Shouldn't be too surprising, it stands to reason that a talented player is leaving the Clippers. As usual, their loss is another team's gain. So far the offseason has been kind to the Bucks.

With Simmons gone, Clippers is trying to play Kerry Kittles at the 2 (if only he is fully heal), this shift Correy to the 3. Else, if Kittles is still injured then Clippers did lose a very talented players who is now a good basketball player.

Dont get too far ahead of yourselves. The Bucks have added a good roleplayer, but I doubt they'll be a contender for the playoffs. They need that one goto guy, and Michael Redd isnt that guy (he may well develop into that though, think ray allen in 2001).

I think the Clippers should try and get Glenn Robinson to replace simmons.

I think we all can agree with that. They have a nice team, I'd say they probably make the playoffs. But being title contenders is a couple years away, IMHO.

??

miami, indiana, detroit are just as strong as sas, suns, mavs

playing in the east means bogut playing against shaq, ilgauskas, curry, ben wallace, dwight howard 4 times each

on paper, the bucks should contend for a playoff spot but it won't be a walk in the park. the only pushovers in the east are nyk, atl, and charlotte... maybe toronto

Kerry Kittles is not even returning to the Clippers, that has been made clear by both sides. The Clips are now looking to get Mobley, or who knows, someone else from the FA market.

The drafting of Korolev is looking even more painful...

Damn, hate to see him go... one of the few reasons that I actually watched the Clips on local TV.
Imagine having (almost) 164 games televised and half of them are Clippers games...

Mason -> 17, 4 and 3 on 44% from the floor. Has no three, is a decent defender.

Simmons -> 16, 6 and 3, 47% from the floor, 43.5% from 3, is a GREAT defender and hustle player and is much stronger than Mason.

Hmm... *strokes his goatee*

Mason is a nice player but his energy is best served coming off of the bench, especially since his jumper is not one of his strengths and he has no outside game whatsoever.

Simmons' percentages will come down a little; he was a bit of an unknown as a scorer and had Elton Brand and Corey Maggette taking some of the pressure off of him with the Clippers but not too much.

Why? Because he is a smart player. He takes shots he can make and that means that no matter what happens, his percentages should be reasonably strong. He's got a physical advantage over Mason even though Mason is more of a freak athlete because his game doesn't rely on something that will diminish over time. He's got decent athleticism and good strength. He can bully people on the block a little and he's quick enough to keep up with pretty much anyone. He also learned dirty defensive tricks from MJ.

In the meantime, he's got Michael Redd to keep the pressure off of him a little bit. Bogut will be a hack offensively in his first year or two, so he doesn't count but if the Bucks can use whatever remains of their free agent money to get their hands on a decent backup C or a starting PF, then they will make it a little easier on Simmons.

Furthermore, if Joe Smith could score a bit more, that would also help (or at least maintain his current rate of offense). It wouldn't hurt of Marcus Fizer could contribute more. Anyone who establishes themselves as an offensive threat (even as a spot-up shooter or put-back specialist) can help the team in that regard, taking pressure off of the main guys.

Whatever happens, it'll be interesting to see how Simmons follows up after such a great season.

DAMN!!! Yo fgrep15 we are fucked!! I cannot the Clips did not even make a counter offer. I know he was unrestricted but do something for gods sake. We was our most reliable shooter. It would be nice to score mobley but it looks like FA's do not want to go to the Clips. Shit man.

Howard and Curry isn't a big threat at least not now. It's not like Bogut has no help at all anyway. If he is as good as people say he is, he can compete in the East with those few big men he would have to worry about facing. As far as that go-to-guy for the Bucks, Redd is that go-to-guy IMO. He is an all-star and I don't think they can get any better than Redd through the free agency that hasn't been signed yet. They will make the playoffs this season and I believe theres no question to it, but i know for a fact they may not be a top 4 or 5 team to make it.

Bucks have some nice shooters now but they need someone that will cause defensive shifts so the shooters can capitalize.

How good is TJ? Never saw him play.

TJ can play, he won the Naismith award in 2003 before heading to the NBA. He averaged 7.1ppg and 6.5apg in his first season in the league in 26mpg. Here are some of his college stats along with NBA stats:

good post up to there. the bucks will probably have to worry about teams going after either gadzu or pachulia, probably moreso pachulia. they can match but i'm not sure they will if someone comes with a big contract.

maybe fizer can be that guy. when his knee is ok, he's capable of scoring in bunches, albeit via ballhogging

anyway, it's great to see simmons put it together. he did show he possesed all around skills when he was back at depaul but underacheived there.

On a side note, Bucks have resigned Dan Gadjuric...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=a ... &type=lgns

If they can resign Pachulia as well, they'll have a fine young big men trio along with Bogut. Plus Dan is one heck of a backup Center.

Wow, huge payraise for Gadz, $6M a year? Wasn't he making $600k?

This is indeed the season to pay players way more than they're worth. This is how baaad contracts are made.
