GAME 1

SIXERS 149
CAVS 145 (OT)

Sixers win big

LeBron's performance not good enough

Image
Dalembert's 9 blocks and plays like this helped Philly win.

Today each team was determined to win. There were many lead changes, stuff like that. In a high scoring battle between two good teams, there was plenty of excitement. Earlier in the game, Andre Iguodala and the rest of the Sixers shut down LeBron James, holding him to 12 points through 3 quarters. But then King James came right back at them to show them why he is the MVP. In the 4th quarter and OT, James had 22 points, including a killer 3 that hurt Philly.
Image
But Philly would not go down. Under the leadership of Allen Iverson, the Sixers were able to get back the lead. At the end of regulation, Eric Snow missed a 3 to send it to OT.
In the overtime session, two Sixers, Dalembert and Chris Webber, fouled out. The reserves stepped up, and hit the free throws to get the win.

Sixers Go Home, up 2-0

Philly has chance to win the series

Chris Webber helped Philly win with plays like this.

C-Webb was unhappy with the way he performed in Game 1. Although the Sixers won, Webber fouled out early in overtime and had 12 points, 8 rebounds. So in Game 2 he stepped up. Webber had 31 points on 15-21 shooting to lead the Sixers.
Philly will now go home with a 2-0 lead in the series. They can easily wrap it up.

Webber catches this from Sarunas.

The Sixers played very well today, and now have a 3-0 lead on the Cavs. All they need to do is win one more game and Philly will have beaten LeBron and the mighty Cavs. In this game, the Sixers were better defensively, holding the Cavs to 18 4th-quarter points en route to the victory.

PLAYOFFS 1ST ROUND RESULTS

WEST

(1) Memphis
defeats (8) LA Lakers 4-3

Image

The Grizzlies did not play very well against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. They almost lost the series in 5 games, but they won by 1 in Game 4 and won by 2 in Game 5. They might not be ready for a very good Dallas team, who just beat the Spurs.

(5) Dallas
defeats (4) San Antonio 4-2

Image

AND ITS GOOD! Jason Terry's 3-pointer at the end of overtime sent the Dallas Mavericks to the 2nd round. Dallas was able to respond to the 47 point blowout loss in Game 4 with key wins in games 5+6 to go on and face the Memphis Grizzlies, who had just played a tough 7-game series against the Lakers.

(6) Houston
defeats (3) Sacramento 4-3

Image

Tracy McGrady was great in the series, making clutch shots all over the place. He was a big reason why they won the last 2 games comfortably against the Kings. They will face a roughed-up T-Wolves team, and they are exhausted.

(2) Minnesota
defeats (7) Phoenix 4-3

Image

The Timberwolves just barely, and I mean barely, beat the Suns. They almost lost the series until Steve Nash's 3-pointer at the buzzer in Game 5 clanked off the rim. With that they won the next two games, and will face Houston next.

EAST

(8) New York
defeats (1) Miami 4-3

Image

Let history repeat itself. Miami goes down to New York again, and the Heat were also a #1 seed. For the third time in playoff history, an 8 beats a 1. The Knicks will now face the well-rested 76ers, who are coming off a sweep, in the next round.

(5) Philadelphia
defeats (4) Cleveland 4-0

Image

The Sixers absolutely crushed LeBron in his first playoffs, winning the series in 4 straight, including Game 1, one of the highest scoring games in playoff history. They will face a tired Knicks team, who completed an upset over Miami.

(3) Boston
defeats (6) New Jersey 4-1

Image

It was a team effort for the Celtics. Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, Gary Payton, and Ricky Davis had a combined total of 76 ppg in the series, including 26.8 from Pierce. They will now face Reggie Miller and the Pacers in the next round.

(7) Indiana
defeats (2) Detroit 4-2

Image

It was all about Reggie Miller. Playing in potentially his final playoff series, Miller stepped up, adding to his list of clutch performances with his play in Game 3, 5, and 6, all Pacer wins. Indiana will try and beat Boston in the next round.

2ND ROUND PLAYOFF PREVIEW

WEST

Image

Dallas defeats Memphis 4-3

The young, inexperienced Grizzlies were roughed up in the last round against the Lakers, while Dallas easily beat the Spurs. The Mavs should be able to win the series and move to the conference finals.

Houston defeats Minnesota 4-3

Even though they both won their 1st rounds in 7, they would find out its a lot easier to come back from 3-2 then 3-1. Houston is less tired than the T-Wolves, and will upset them to make an All-Texas Western Conference Finals.

EAST

Image

Philadelphia defeats New York 4-1

The Sixers are very well rested after sweeping the Cavs, while the Knicks fought in a tough 7 game series. New York will show how tired they are as the series goes on, and will lose to the 76ers.

Indiana defeats Boston 4-2

Reggie Miller's quest to win a championship will still be alive after round 2. He and his hard-fighting Pacers will beat Boston, then face the Sixers in the conference finals.

GAME 1

KNICKS 112
SIXERS 121

Sixers win opener

Image
Chris Webber made plays like this to help Philly win.

Philly was able to win today against the Knicks, but it was not very easy at all. Tied at 53 going into the 2nd half, Lenny Wilkens kept Malik Rose in the game, who had 5 fouls. Jim O'Brien instructed players to get the ball to Webber, who would draw the foul on him. They did just that, and the Knicks starting power forward was gone.
Even without Rose playing, the Knicks played well. After Tim Thomas made a 3, the Knicks were up by 11, with a few minutes to play. Then, Philly was able to go on an 8-0 run, and eventually tie the game. The Sixers took the lead for good after a Kyle Korver 3, and sealed the deal with an AI 3.

GAME 2

KNICKS 116
SIXERS 113

MARBURY EXPLODES

Sixers had 10 point lead entering 4th

Image
This 3 by Kyle Korver was not enough for the Sixers.

Stephon Marbury was the man tonight. Down by 10 entering the 4th, Marbury came up with clutch plays time and time again to beat the Philadelphia 76ers.
"I felt great out there today," said Marbury "It seemed like every shot i shot in the 4th was going in."

Marbury, obviously was the Player of the Game His 23 4th-qtr points were more than the sixers 4th-qtr points (21)

INJURY REPORT
Image
On this play, Kurt Thomas suffered a strained calf muscle. He will be back for the conference finals if the Knicks get that far.

Sixers lead 3-1
Iggy has career-high 38 points.

Webber had some big dunks en route to the win.

New York, New York (AP) -- Andre Iguodala had the night of his career, scoring 38 points, to go with 10 boards and 6 assists. But with his performance, AI was not very good tonight, scoring only 11 points, but the Sixers still won. The Sixers shot 55 % compared to the Knicks 44%, which was "a big difference" according to Knicks coach Herb Williams.

This win was not as easy as it looked like it was for the 76ers. Up by 21 entering the 4th, the Sixer defense got lazy and was torched by Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford, as the duo scored most of the 13 unanswered points. However, New York could not cut the lead to any shorter than 5, and by then, the Sixer defense was able to stop them. One of the key points in the game was Herb Williams electing to keep in Malik Rose. With that, Rose made a stupid reach-in against Andre Iguodala, finishing his night. After that the Sixers made their free throws and sealed it.

Next Game will be at the Wachovia Center, where the Sixers would like to end this series and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
