Phoenix Pummels Bucks- Annihilate & Embarrass Milwaukee on Their Home Floor


MILWAUKEE- The NBA’s trading deadline has now passed, so if the Milwaukee Bucks are going to find improvement this season, it will have to come from what they already have.
That’s bad news for Bucks fans, who witnessed firsthand the Phoenix Suns come into their building and hammer their home team by 24 points. The box score numbers were extremely lopsided in favor of Phoenix: they had 9 more field-goal attempts, 9 more assists, 12 fewer turnovers (1/3 as much as the Bucks’ 18), had 12 blocks to the Bucks’ 2, and also had 7 more steals than Milwaukee. When asked for a response to these, all Bucks coach Terry Porter could offer was “Ouch.”
Surprisingly, the Bucks (9-12 on the season now) got off to a solid start against Phoenix (improved record to 14-4). They held the Suns to 37.5% shooting, and led by 3 after the first quarter. And although they turned it over 6 times, rookie Dwight Howard has 12 of his 19 points in the period, and there was hope of an upset in Milwaukee.
Those hopes turned into wishing and dreaming very quickly, however. In the second and third quarters, the Phoenix Suns simply played, “Phoenix Suns basketball,” as coach Mike D’Antoni put it. They outscored Milwaukee 58 to 33 to take a commanding 22 point advantage into the final period. Steve Nash was led their dangerous offense throughout, feeding his all-star supporting cast for easy baskets. Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, and Amare Stoudemire scored practically at will, and the Bucks’ cold shooting on their end led to the huge deficit.
There was one bright spot for the Bucks, however, and that came in the form of Antonio McDyess. “Dice” came off the bench to score 23 points and grab 6 rebounds, hitting 10 of his 12 shots in a multitude of ways. Jumpers, drives, strong or finesse, there was no stopping Antonio in this game.
But in the end it made little difference. The Suns held on to their large advantage throughout the fourth quarter, sparked by veterans Jim Jackson and Walter McCarty, while many of their starters rested. Little-used Paul Shirley, best known for his nba.com blogs, even saw some action. Yes, it was a game to forget for the Milwaukee Bucks, and a nice victory for the Phoenix Suns.

GAME NOTES
The Bucks’ point guard play has been exceptionally weak lately. Maurice Williams has really been struggling with his shot, and Chris Childs also has been very streaky. Also, neither point guard has been racking up assists like is expected from the 1-spot in the NBA. In this game, the Bucks had more turnovers than assists: 18 to 17.

Big Fundamental Gives Education- Tim Duncan Leads Spurs, Shuts Down Howard in Win


MILWAUKEE- Tim Duncan, nicknamed “The Big Fundamental” by Shaquille O’Neal, showed the Milwaukee Bucks why he’s universally regarded as one of the top 5 players on the planet. He carried his San Antonio Spurs to a 12-point victory over the struggling Milwaukee Bucks last night at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In a game when the Spurs normally-electrifying backcourt of Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili really struggled, it was San Antonio’s frontcourt that came up big. Duncan had 29 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, and starting center Rasho Nesterovic contributed a huge game of 23 points and 12 rebounds. Spurs coach Gregg Popovic commented after the game, “Timmy and Rasho were great tonight. They controlled the paint offensively and defensively, and that gave us control of the tempo, and ultimately it was good enough to get the win.”
From the opening tip, it was evident that Duncan came to play. He had 15 first-quarter points, and 6 rebounds to go with, scoring at will over anyone who tried to stop him. Defensively, he was also dynamite- he completely shut down Bucks rookie phenom Dwight Howard over the course of the entire game. Howard was stifled into a 4-for-17 shooting night, failing to score in double figures (just 9 points in the game), and into committing 5 turnovers.
“I’m disappointed with my performance tonight,” Howard said, “but I’ll tell you this- I learned a lot. Tim Duncan plays so smart, that if you’re paying attention, you can pick up little moves and tricks that he does. I wish I could play him more often- it would make me a much better player.”
The Spurs really showed their collective smarts and championship experience in the second half. Milwaukee tried to make a push in the third quarter, and had their best scoring period with 25 points, but the Spurs hung tough. Despite shooting only 36% in the quarter, they managed to match the Bucks’ 25 points, and retained a 4 point advantage into the final quarter.
The Bucks once again tried to make a run to start the 4th, and found a spark off the bench in Reece Gaines. Despite receiving inconsistent minutes off the bench this season, Gaines showed no rust, hitting 5-of-8 shots. But the Spurs used a variety of players to maintain and extend their advantage. In the quarter, Nesterovic shot 5-7, Duncan went 2-4, Bruce Bowen hit both of his 2 shots, Tony Parker sunk 2 of his 3 attempts, and Robert “Big Shot Bob” Horry also was 2-3 when it mattered most. In the end, the Spurs played like the championship contenders they are, and the Bucks continued to show the inconsistency that has plagued them so far this season.

GAME NOTES
The Spurs backcourt was especially bad shooting the ball against Milwaukee. Manu Ginobili shot 6 for 25, and Tony Parker went 4-16, both about 25%.

The Bucks tried a different starting lineup against the Spurs. Jason Terry moved to the PG spot, and Erick Strickland came off the bench to start at the 2. The move didn't work very well.

Everyone- I'm going to get the latest animated gifs up soon, and also I figured out how to add created players to an existing franchise, so after this season, all the real rookies are going to be in my franchise!

I'm going to put them on the teams that they were drafted to in real life, except for Andrew Bogut (who was drafted by the Bucks). To make the game more challenging for me, I'm going to put Bogut on a bad team that needs a center (Atlanta maybe?), and instead I'm going to take for myself my favorite player in the draft: NATE ROBINSON!#2, 5'9", 181 pounds, out of Washington University. He's an athletic marvel, played on Washington's football team too. He can dunk, plays great defense, is really intense, and overall is extremely exciting.

Actually I like Bogut a lot- I just want this to be very challenging, and it will be with Gadzuric in the middle instead of Andrew. I think he'll be a really good player in the league, though, and probably Rookie of the Year...

The editing is all done- I've created all the rookies from the first round who are going to be playing in the league next year, so far as I know (a few are staying overseas). I also created just a few 2nd rounders, like Salim Stoudamire. I figured out how to use DB Commander 2000 Pro to copy players from one roster/franchise to another, so after this season is over, I'm going to insert the real rookies into my franchise, and delete the ones that are generated through the rookie draft. It should work out well.

Game 23: Boston Celtics (18-6) @ Milwaukee Bucks (9-13)

Not-So-Sweet Home- Bucks Fall to 3-8 At Home With Loss to Celtics

MILWAUKEE- The Bucks fell for the third consecutive game last night against the Boston Celtics, and all three games were held on their home floor- the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Yesterday’s defeat worsened their home record to 3-8 this season, among the worst in the league. When asked to try and explain this phenomenon, Bucks coach Terry Porter scratched his head. “I don’t know, really, why we’ve been so bad at home. It’s not the fans- they’re great, it’s either our guys are more nervous to perform well and win at home, or their too relaxed…”
The Boston Celtics didn’t care where they were playing last night- they were going to score the ball regardless. Very wisely, they turned the game into a fast-paced, up-tempo, offensive game. That favored the Celtics heavily because of their multitude of explosive scorers, like Paul Pierce, Antoine Walker, Ricky Davis, and Raef LaFrentz.
All four of those players scored in double figures in the game, and Paul Pierce led the way with a game-high 29 points. Davis had a great game off the bench with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Additionally, LaFrentz (17 pts, 14 rebs) and Walker (25 pts, 10 rebs) each produced double-doubles for the Celtics.
After a close first half of basketball that saw the Bucks trailing by only points, the third quarter was proved to be disastrous. Boston scored 37 points in the period, on 54% shooting, led by Walker’s 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting. If not for a great quarter and overall game by Jason Terry, who had 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists while shooting 50% (9 for 18), the Bucks may have been playing in front of an empty stadium in the final quarter.
Pierce was spectacular in the fourth, hitting 4 big shots to keep the Celtics in command. Milwaukee’s Desmond Mason was very aggressive and tried to spark a comeback for his team, but he simply couldn’t hit anything. Mason was 0-for-7 in the final quarter, and had to watch in anguish as the Celtics ran out the final ticks of the clock to seal an 11 point victory.

Calvin Booth had his second-best game of the year off the bench for Milwaukee. He racked up 6 points, 10 rebounds, an assist, and 2 blocks backing up starting center Dan Gadzuric.

Game 24: Milwaukee Bucks (9-14) @ Los Angeles Clippers (11-11)

Clippers Overwhelm Bucks- Bring It Offensively & Defensively, Especially in 4th


LOS ANGELES- While the Los Angeles Clippers are battling for playoff positioning in the Western Conference with their (now) 12-11 record, the Milwaukee Bucks are just trying to stay afloat and not eliminate all chance of postseason play this season. They lost to the Clippers by 10 last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and consequently their record worsened to 9-15. They are now guaranteed of finishing with a losing record, as there are 5 games remaining and if they win out they’ll be just 14-15. However there still is hope. They are just a few games from the 8th spot in the weaker Eastern Conference, and are currently holding the 11th best record in the East.
The Clippers, however, played like they wanted this crucial game more. They battled ferociously at home, holding the Bucks offense down and keeping the game in their control until they exploded for a 32-point, 61% shooting fourth quarter that gave them a double-digit advantage and eventually, win.
Corey Maggette was the player of the game for the Clippers, scoring a game-high 29 points, while also contributing 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Power forward Elton Brand also played great, scoring 17 points, and was a monster defensively with 13 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Both of them got the Clippers off to a strong start to the ballgame, scoring a combined 14 first-quarter points, as Los Angeles jumped out to an early 15-5 lead.
The Bucks answered the challenge, however, going on a 16-4 run of their own to take a 2-point advantage going into the second quarter. It was then that the Clippers defense took over. Antonio McDyess was held to an 0-6 performance in the quarter (and was just 1-10 in the game), and the Bucks as a team shot a horrific 7-24 (29.2%) in the period. The Clippers were everywhere defensively, forcing 5 turnovers, and then sent a message as Kerry Kittles nailed a half-court shot as time was running out on the first half. They led by 6, 47-41, by intermission.
It was in the second half that Maggette and Brand resumed their offensive dominance, and they needed to, because the Bucks’ Jason Terry and Dwight Howard were intent on getting the “W” for Milwaukee. Maggette dropped in 19 points in the second half, and combined with center Chris Kaman’s 5-5 shooting in the fourth quarter, helped put away a dangerous Milwaukee team. Terry finished with an excellent, well-rounded game of 25 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals, while Howard managed to rack up 21 points and 9 boards against one of the best power forwards in the West in Elton Brand.

GAME NOTES
Bucks coach Terry Porter was dejected as he addressed the media after the game. “It’s not looking good for our team. I think that realistically we have to win all 5 of our remaining games to have a chance at the Playoffs. We’ll see what happens.”

Milwaukee Bucks coach Terry Porter had to watch in anguish from the sidelines as his team was pounded, knocked around, and overwhelmed by an incredibly athletic and tough Philadelphia 76ers team. Philadelphia’s starting lineup is full of thoroughbreds: the pesky & dangerous Allen Iverson at point, the amazing Andre Iguodala at the 2, the athletic marvel Eddie Robinson at small forward, veteran all-star Chris Webber playing power forward, and defensive cornerstone Samuel Dalembert at center. These 5 players led a defensive gem of a game for the 76ers that was in the end too much for Milwaukee to handle.
That statement would have sounded absurd after the first quarter, which really was an offensive shootout-showdown. Jason Terry of the Bucks was lighting up Phili from everywhere. He scored 15 first quarter points, including three 3-pointers. For the 76ers, Webber started off hot, scoring 10 points on 4-7 shooting. His patented 17-foot jumper was clicking, and it allowed Allen Iverson to face single coverage as he broke down his defender and scored on drives to the hoop.
From that point on, the game transformed into a scrappy, sloppy, ugly defensive contest. This favored the 76ers. Their rookie SG Andre Iguodala showed why he’s regarded as a lockdown defender in the league already. He displayed his supreme athleticism, length, timing, and defensive awareness in the form of 7 blocks and 2 steals in the game. As a team, Philadelphia had 20 blocks and 15 steals. The blocks came in bunches, too- oftentimes there were multiple blocked shots on the same possession.
Chris Webber had the highlight of the game in the fourth quarter with about 7 minutes remaining and the 76ers starting to assume control of the game. The Bucks had possession, and the shot clock was running low thanks to yet another great defensive stand by Phili. Antonio McDyess got caught with the ball at the top of the key at the three point line, and had to fire. Chris Webber lept up and blocked the shot behind McDyess, sprinted out to get it, and took the ball all the way by himself for a monster one-handed jam. The crowd was already going crazy, that just about brought the house down.
Milwaukee’s 7 fourth quarter turnovers represented 7 nails in their coffin in this game. With each one, the 76ers’ momentum was fed like wood to a fire, and in the end it was the Milwaukee Bucks who got torched by a final score of 99-90.

GAME NOTES
After hitting for 15 points in the opening period, Jason Terry finished with 36, a season high. He needed 30 shots to get them, though. He’s averaging 28.7 ppg in his last 3 games. Coach Terry Porter commented on Terry’s and the team: “I don’t like the fact that Jason has been forced to carry so much of our offense recently. He’s playing out of his game. He’s not a guy who should be shooting 30 times in a ballgame, but with the way that we’ve been playing as a whole lately, frankly that’s the only way we’ve been able to stay in games. Next season I don’t expect to see Jason shooting nearly as much, but still putting up great numbers because he’s such a great percentage shooter. I’d like for him to average around 18 points per game like Desmond [Mason], not 22+…”

Yeah, I'm basically out of contention now, though. It's not official, but I think the 8th seeded team (the Bulls, I think) would have to lose all the rest of their games, and I'd have to win all the rest of mine, but my schedual has been tough. I play your team next- the Kings don't worry though, this is just my first season in a franchise, and I really think I'll make it next year. I have a lot of salary cap room, and with a year of development for Dwight Howard, the Bucks are gonna be good...

Still Struggling- Bucks Give Valiant Effort, But Still Lose 6th Straight Game


SACRAMENTO- The Sacramento Kings played a smart, patient game versus the Milwaukee Bucks last night at Arco Arena to win and improve their record to 14-11. The Bucks on the other hand played a scappy, desperate game, but still lost their 6th consecutive game. Their record slipped to 9-17 on the year, and although mathematically they still have a chance at making the playoffs with 3 games left, right now they look much closer to the NBA Lottery than the NBA Playoffs.
In search for some kind of spark, Bucks Coach Terry Porter moved backup point guard Chris Childs, who’s been playing well as of late, into the starting lineup. Volatile starting PG Maurice “Mo” Williams was relegated to the bench. The move didn’t pan out as Porter had hoped. Childs shot 3-for-9 in the game, with only 3 assists, and while he did hold Mike Bibby to a 6-17 shooting night, he didn’t stop Bibby from running the Kings offense to the tune of 11 assists. Williams was 0-5 without a point as a reserve, so it still was an upgrade for Milwaukee. Truly, it just tells the dire state of the point guard position that has weighed down the Bucks throughout their entire season.
The Kings led 47-43 at halftime, and then came out with great energy in the third quarter. Quickly they built a 55-45 lead, but the Bucks refused to fall behind by any more. In fact, they went on a run of their own, a huge 21-2 spurt that put them up by 9, 66-57. Their defense was downright hounding, as center Dan Gadzuric was rebounding everything and pairing up with rookie Dwight Howard to reject many shots inside.
Milwaukee led by 4 entering the final quarter. The Kings saved their best for last- they scored 36 points on 58% shooting in the period. Peja Stojakovic led the way, scoring 7 of team-high 29 points. The game was still within reach for Milwaukee in the final minute, until Mike Bibby drained a dagger of a 3 pointer to give the Kings a 97-89 advantage with about 40 seconds remaining.
The Bucks turned to their late-game hero, Jason Terry, to see if he could get hot, but tonight wasn’t the night. Terry did score 29 points in the game, but shot only 2-7 from 3, and committed 6 turnovers in the ballgame. He couldn’t rescue his team this time, and the city of Milwaukee had to once again watch their team bow down in defeat.

Big man Dwight Howard, not known for his passing, led the team in assists with 5- the combined total of the 2 Bucks point guards. This position is one that will definitely need to be addressed next season.

It Stops At Six- Bucks Break Losing Streak With Win Over Hornets


MILWAUKEE- Finally, the Milwaukee Bucks put an end to their 6-game losing streak. They defeated the New Orleans Hornets last night at the Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee by a score of 93-86.
The previous game, Bucks head coach Terry Porter had inserted Chris Childs into the starting lineup at point guard to try and spark the team. It didn’t work, so for this game he put Jason Terry at the 1, and brought Erick Strickland off the bench to play shooting guard. Despite being just 6’2”, Terry has been playing SG this season, because he’s a scorer first, passer 2nd, and he’s known as a combo guard who can play either position in the league.
Terry had mixed results in this start at the point. He struggled with his shooting, especially in the first three quarters, but dished out a season-high 12 assists. Porter commented, “Jason has the mentality of a 2, although he’s unselfish enough to be a 1. He’s just sacrificing his all-around game when he has to distribute the ball and get the offense going. I don’t like to see him start many games at the 1 for our team, but we needed him tonight because we were really struggling. Thankfully, he led us to the victory.”
A defensive battle over the first three quarters (the score was 59-58 after 3) turned into a shootout in the fourth quarter. While everyone was chipping in for New Orleans- 6 players scored in double figures in the game, no one with more than 14- Milwaukee was glad to see Jason Terry find some sort of offensive rhythm. After scoring 8 points on 3-12 shooting over the first three quarters, Terry scored 12 fourth quarter points while making all 3 of his shots and all 5 of his free throw attempts.
The key play of the game came with 1:00 left in the game, and the Bucks leading 85-78. The Hornets were swarming all over the court, playing with great desperation and intensity. The Bucks had possession of the ball, but the shot clock was running low, and Terry found himself with the ball behind the three point line. With nothing to do but launch, Terry fired over the outstretched hands of his defender, and SWISH! That took the wind out of New Orleans’ sails, giving the Bucks an insurmountable 88-78 advantage. All Milwaukee needed to do then was make their free throws, which they did, and they would have the win they had sought and missed for 6 consecutive games, which they got.

GAME NOTES
New Orleans rookie J.R. Smith played very well off the bench. He scored 14 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, had 3 steals, made both of his three point attempts, and also threw down 2 highlight-reel worthy slam dunks. Desmond Mason commented on Smith: “JR has game. He did a little bit of everything tonight, and he’s really, really explosive. That guy’s just overflowing with talent- watch out for him in a couple of years…”

i used to be an assistant network database administrator, so i work in a server room monitoring servers and stuff. i was promoted to network systems analyst director astep incremenet of about 30% for the pay and a big cubicle at my disposal...now i manage 5 poeple which do most of the works for me instead of me programming like i did a while back, i just now check their individual submitted programs and to some error checking and stuff mostly the credits just go to me j/k my company is a supplier of oxygen gas worldwide, so i have to make updated programs for our plants/factory and inventory systems.....quiet a work huh? and still i find time to be here in the forums

That was a really big promotion, good work there...Does the work get repetitive, or does it challenge you? It sounds really technical. I took a computer programming class for one year in high school, and it was really boring, although maybe that's just because it was a basics course that taught the old programs like COBOL and C++...

Mo’ Problems for Pacers- Recently Benched Maurice Williams Leads Bucks Over Pacers


MILWAUKEE- Maurice “Mo” Williams wants his starting spot back. Or at least, he played like it last night as the Milwaukee Bucks won convincingly over the Indiana Pacers on their home floor in Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Williams lost his starting point guard position after Milwaukee’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers 3 games ago. That game was the Bucks’ 5th consecutive defeat, and coach Terry Porter had had enough. He inserted Chris Childs into the starting point guard spot, the Bucks lost again, and then he moved Jason Terry from the 2 to the 1. Since then, the Bucks have now won 2 consecutive games. Terry’s averaging 21 points and 10 assists in those 2 victories, although it’s very possible that the “W” against the Pacers would have been a loss without the efforts of “Mo.”
During the second quarter of a tight game, Williams got on a roll. He used his supreme quickness to cut around and through a great defensive Indiana team and get to the basket for layups and three-point plays. Williams scored 10 points in the quarter alone- double his regular season average! Indiana still possessed a small lead at halftime though, with the score being 46-43.
In the third quarter the spotlight shifted from Maurice to a fierce showdown between the teams’ small forwards: Desmond Mason of the Bucks and Ron Artest of the Pacers. Both are very physical players, and both are extremely intense players, and facing off against each other turned into a great battle. They exchanged baskets as much as they did tough defense. Mason scored 14 points in the quarter, although it took him a 5-14 shooting effort to get them. “No one shoots 50% on Ron Artest,” Mason said after the game, smiling.
Milwaukee led 67-63 entering the final period, and their lead swelled over time: 80-71 with 7:00 left, 89-79 with 4:00 left, 94-81 with 2:30 left, and 98-83 with 1:30 left. Their points were hard-earned, but still came in bunched due to a mind-blowing fourth quarter shooting percentage: 78.9%! Of their 19 field goal attempts, Milwaukee hit 15 shots, and 11 of them were assisted. Maurice Williams got hot again, sprinting past defenders for fast-break layups, and hitting outside jumpers and even a huge 3-pointer. By the end of the game, Williams had scored a season-high 24 points, on 90% (9-10) shooting! “I had to rub my eyes a couple of times,” Coach Porter said, “I kept asking my assistants, ‘You sure that’s Mo’ out there?’…He was just incredible tonight.”
Was it good enough to get his starting spot back, though? “No, the way I look at it, we’re now on a 2 game winning streak with Jason [Terry] at the 1, so I’m going to keep the lineup as it is,” Porter explained. Oh well- surely Maurice is happy enough to get a win and be an important contributor in it.

It Is Finished- Bucks Lose Final Game, Have To Place Faith in Future


MILWAUKEE- The Milwaukee Bucks wrapped up a disappointing season with a loss to the Toronto Raptors last night by a score of 95-91. They finished the year with an 11-18 record, 7 games under .500, and well out of playoff contention in the Eastern Conference. Toronto has also struggled this season- the win improved their record to 10-18, and they also will not be participating in the postseason this year.
As for the game, both teams tried to compete just for the sake of competing, despite knowing that the game was a pointless one. Rookie Dwight Howard of the Bucks left a good impression heading into his sophomore season with a 16-rebound performance. Howard had 10 rebounds in the first quarter alone, a season-high mark.
For the Raptors, sophomore Chris Bosh is looking more and more like a legitimate franchise player for Toronto. He played fantastically versus Milwaukee, recording 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting over 60% from the field. Veteran Jalen Rose also played well, giving a nice all-around game of 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists on 50% shooting.
Raptors coach Sam Mitchell commented on his team after the game: “We’ve got one more game left in the season, and we don’t want to discount it, but we already know that in reality the season is over for us- there will be no playoffs in Toronto this season. I’m optimistic for our future, though. Chris [Bosh] is a great up-and-coming player in this league, often compared to Kevin Garnett. We need for him to develop and to get some pieces around him, and then we’ll be as good as anyone in the East. I just ask our fans to be patient.”
The Bucks best player this season, Jason Terry, had a mixed finish to his season. He scored 31 points, hit 5 threes, and distributed 4 assists in the game, but committed 8 turnovers in the game. He wasn’t happy with his performance: “I’m forcing everything too much, and I’m playing outside of my game. Coach Porter has told me that I’m going to be the 2 [shooting guard] next year, so this summer I’m going to be working hard to be a great 2-guard. I’m looking forward to it.”
The other leader of the Bucks this year was Desmond Mason, who finished his year with a 16 point performance. He was plagued with foul trouble, and only played 3 minutes in the first half, but came on strong in the second half and especially 4th quarter. “I’m going to go to work this summer like always, just trying to get better at everything. My main areas that I want to improve in are my shooting, ball handling, and overall defense. I really believe we’ll make the playoffs next season, and I want to be a part of it. See y’all next season.”
