NBA Draft Chise .::All-Teams::.

Postby SKempSonics on Sun Mar 09, 2003 4:39 am

Hey guys, i'm going to be making a franchise post here on these forums about my NBA re-draft league. However there's a few catches, the 1st, i'm playing as every single team, the 2nd, i'm using NBA Live 2000, but hey, nobody ever goes to the NBA Live 2000 chise sites so i won't be using it, and you guys should never noticed the difference anyway

anyway, here's the first round

Financial Problems are Causing the NBA to make Drastic Changes

The NBA commissioner has made a very interesting statement in his press-conference earlier today. He was noted as saying "Well, I regret to inform everybody that we've finally achieved what we've worried about for so long. The salary cap issues have completely destroyed the NBA, not allowing many players to play on teams because of the coralation of high-paid NBA players. With this lack of money the NBA has started to run out of players to play due to these issues. As a result, we've attempted to create a temporary solution to this problem. Effective immediately, all players that are not retired in the NBA shall be pooled in a NBA Re-Draft. Now I know this will be very awkward for the fans, and for the players themselves, but we believe it is the only way to solve these problems. We've also decided to set a league maximum for the amount of money that can be paid annually to an NBA player. These guys play the game for the love of basketball, and not the money, so as a result they unanimously voted that they would take pay-cuts to keep the NBA enfranchised. We will be holding the draft sometime later, and each team will be able to select their players."

Comments: The surprising play of Pat Garrity allowed the Wizards to establish an early 32-25 lead at the end of the first quarter. Throughout the rest of the game the Hawks only held the lead once by a single point before Stephon Marbury and co. took it to the house. A triple-double game for Stromile Swift shows that the Wizards could very well be the surprise team in the NBA this year as they beat out a highly praised Atlanta Hawks team.

Post-Game Interview - Pat Garrity
Reporter: Pat, can you tell us what you did to prepare for todays game?
Garrity: Well, I basically worked as hard as possible in the off-season to imrpove my game. I knew whatever team i went to the starting position would be up in the air due to this re-draft. I was just glad I was able to prove to the Wizards that they made the right decision.
Reporter: Congradulations on getting your player of the game award, what can you tell us allowed you to perform so well today?
Garrity: Well i just went out there and gave it one-hundred percent. I managed to get some great wide-open shots thanks to the heads up play of my teammates, if it wasn't for them this wouldn't have been possible.
Reporter: Thank you, and finally, Garrity, do you believe your team has what it takes to do what the critics say you can't do, and that's go to the playoffs.
Garrity: Without a doubt, these people obviously don't know what they're talking about. Our team is a contender each and every game we play no matter who the opponent is, you saw that today, and, of course, i'm behind my team all the way.
Reporter: Thanks Pat, see you next week.

Comments: This game went into double overtime before a winner was finally annoucned, the 76ers found themselves down by 14 at one point but managed to fight their way to a victory behind the strong playing of Antoine Walker. The only upside for the Spurs was the surprising play of two members off the bench, Gordan Gerecek and Dragan Tarlac. Gerecek wrapped up 14 points in 10 minutes and Tarlac put up some nice defensive numbers and 6 points in only 7 minutes.

Post-Game Interview - Maceo Baston
Reporter: Baston, what do you believe allowed you guys to overcome this large deficiet and eventually come out with the victory here.
Baston: Well, our team managed to create alot of turnovers against the Spurs. Luckily for us they started to play sloppy and we were able to catch up with them by the 4th quarter. Also some key offensive rebounds for us managed to help.
Reporter: You certainly had enough of those Maceo. But on another note, many people have criticized the sixers choice of selecting you to be their starter, they believe that somebody like the likes of Michael Dickerson should take over, what are your comments on that?
Baston: Obviously, i want to play as much as possible. But if the people upstairs don't believe I have what it takes to start I will respect that decision. Mike's a good guy and I know he can get it done. However I think I made my point today.
Reporter: You sure did, a great double-double for you on opening night, any expectations for your next game?
Baston: Well, I don't believe anything should change too much from tonights game. We'll just have to wait and see how it goes, but I'll continue to try my best.
Reporter: Thanks Maceo, see you in a couple days.

Dude, type that stuff in an editor where you can use this cool feature called "save". :D Then copy and paste.

BTW, I had been thinking that if I ever did a franchise site with the fantasy draft, I would have used the excuse that the competitive balance in the NBA was screwed-up. Your's is pretty good too.

thx ;)

yeah, i've learned that the hard way, which is why the Team Rosters, are screwy with all those letters ( i typed them in one proggy and cut -n- pasted onto this mboard)

Should have the Pheonix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets at least up today, big games for Clifford and Glen Robinson of the Suns. Not to mention Stockton putting up 14 assists.

Comments: This was a close one, both teams are pretty well equiped with the players they needed, however the Suns came in as favorites and left it at that. Clifford Robinson had a nice day grabbing the Player of the Game award, as well as a decent outing by Glenn Robinson and a surprising scoring output by Voshon Lenard. The Nuggets struggles when Wallace was sitting on the bench and during the time where Wallace was out the Nuggets were outscored 29 - 8.

Post-Game Interview - Voshon Lenard
Reporter: Voshon, you had a great game from the field today. What can you equate to your success?
Lenard: Basically they weren't anticipating it. I saw how they would double Glenn and Cliff all day, so at the half I told my teammates to start shooting it out to me more because I had tones of open shots.
Reporter: This was a big victory for your team as you come in and defeat a well establsihed Denver Nuggets squad in their house. What do you think was the most decisive action towards your victory?
Lenard: Actually, I think the reason we won this was our bench. Some guys stepped up big for us in their absence. Namely, Tony and Doug. If I recall Doug came in and nailed about 5 shots and nabbed over just as many rebounds, granted I think we'll be giving him some more p.t. in the weeks to come if he keeps it up, hehe.
Reporter: Yeah according to our numbers your bench outscored them 34 to 20 and Doug West had 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists in only 8 minutes.
Lenard: Yeah, my boy Doug got it done, and the rest of our team got it done as well.
Reporter: Thanks Voshon, good victory and we hope to see you again sometime soon. Back to you.

Comments: This game was a complete destruction by the Cavaliers team. Tyson Chandler was the only force through the knicks throughout the game, however he scored 20 in the first half, as he slowed down considerably in the second. Clevland's bench scorched the Knicks with 35+ points to 22 for the Knicks (mainly thanks to Shandon Anderson), however the game was an early blowout as the Cavaliers mustered up a 85 to 61 lead at half-time.

Post-Game Interview - Shawn Kemp
Reporter: Shawn, the first thing we'd like to ask is how does it feel to come back again to Cleveland, despite not having too much success your first time?
Kemp: Well, other then Seattle, this is my other home. It felt great to come play for this ball-club, and it did help that this team established some top players early such as Dirk and Vince.
Reporter: Many people are marveled by your success story and people are saying that you've got a legitamate shot at going back to the player you once were for the Sonics. Is tonight any indication of what we will be seeing?
Kemp: Yeah, i've been working hard, getting myself back into shape for the season. Right away i'm hoping to make an impact, i feel all-around better then I was before, and thought I played pretty well in my first game.
Reporter: Many people are already arising rumors about you being traded away to the Supersonics as their GM is frantically trying to re-sign you. Any comments on that?
Kemp: Well, I don't think anything is going to happen this year, i've signed a one-year deal with the Cavaliers, and judging by this team they've got setup, we'll see how far we can get. But right now i'm almost one-hundred percent positive that I will remain with the Cavaliers, at least for this season.
Reporter: Well thanks for your time Shawn, hope this is the beginning to a good year for you.

Comments: This game was a great game, the leads kept on changing back and fourth, and the veteran stars mingled with the young stars. The amazing play of Tracy McGrady managed to surpass the combined efforts of veterns Shaquille O'Neal, Karl Malone, and Scottie Pippen. However, the complete lack of scoring ability by both of New Jersey's guards has brought up questions as to whether or not Shammond Williams should start for the team (he had 13 pts in 12 minutes while the starting guards combined for 10 points in 50 minutes)

Post-Game Interview - Tracy McGrady
Reporter: Tracy you really proved out there that you have what it takes to step it up with the big-boys. Now answer the question we've been wondering, what have you been able to do against these veteran players?
McGrady: Well, I try to bring something to the table that these guys have never seen before, and that's hard considering all the games they've played it. Then again, you try not to let things like this bother you psycologically. You try to not put a face on your opponent so emotion doesn't get in the way of victory.
Reporter: Many people are very high on your team right now, power rankings have your Pacers ranked in the top 5 consistently of all the NBA teams, what are your thoughts on this?
McGrady: My thoughts are that somebody's been anakyzing correctly. *chuckles*. In all seriousness, i'm glad these people think we have it takes to be a contender, because just like any other player on any other team, we all have an equal shot at victory day in and day out.
Reporter: If you were able to choose one of your other 4 starting members to claim helped you the most today, who would it be?
McGrady: If I could, I would answer all of them, i truely would. But since you asked i'll say Tony, Delk that is. He threw me about 5 good passes inside the paint that allowed for some easy scores. Many people seem to underrate the ability of a good assist in the league, and if i had to i would single him out.
Reporter: Well thanks for your time T-Mac, we'll hope to catch you again some other time.

Comments: This game started off with alot of great defense, but as the second half rolled around, Sam Cassell hit 18 of his 22 points and it became an offensive shoot out. Keon Clark had an amazing game posting 23 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocks! However him alone would not be able to out play the tough Detroit Piston team. The combined defensive efforts of Isaac Austin and Hidayet Turkoglu made it easy for the Pistons as they were up 61 - 40 at half-time. However an amazing 70 point rally by the Heat made it close, however in the end the deficet was too much for Miami to handle and Detroit pulled out a decisive victory.

Post-Game Interview - Keon Clark
Reporter: Clark, you had an absolutely amazing game today, what do you believe made you play this good, and how do you feel about it?
Clark: I guess I had a good game, but I don't see how you expect me to feel, we just lost. Right now i'm just trying to go over my own mistakes and figure out what I need to do to help this team inch out this victories. Sure statistically it may seem good, but it doesn't matter if I scored the 116 points up there, if we don't come out with the big W.
Reporter: This is true, however, you still had a great game. Where do you think your fellow Miami teammates rank in this tought league?
Clark: Well, obviously, like everyone else, I believe we have a shot at getting wherever we want to be. We need to just work a little bit more on some teamwork.
Reporter: What exactly do you mean by teamwork?
Clark: What I mean is we need to spread the ball around more. Get some of the backups more into the game. If you noticed nobody really outshined the others off the bench today, and that's something that hurt us. I believe we're going to need to assist the ball more. Too many selfish shot attempts lead to too many misses that could've really helped us out later in the game. If we can start getting the ball around to the open shot better then we did today, then we should be able to prove that today was merly a bad day, and it won't be the norm for the Heat.
Reporter: Well said, and thanks for your time Keon. Tough loss, but hopefully will see you smiling at your next game.

Comments: This game was a very defensive game, i tried messing around with some new settings to get a more realistic game. However I found some big-names not getting many points, I.E. Kenyon Martin being held to just 8 points in 27 minutes. The Assists weren't as flowing as I would've liked and rebounds were kind of erratic. However, the game was a big-threat as it was tied 84-84 in the 4th with 32 seconds remaining. A last second three by Alvin Williams put Charlotte up 87-84. The Magic went down but horribly missed thier shot, and immediatly opted to foul the Hornet defender. Jim Jackson missed the first one, leaving hope for the Magic, but he hit the second to give them an 88-84 lead with 5 seconds left. A last second 3-point shot fell short as did the Magic's hopes of victory.

Post-Game Interview - Shareef Abdur-Rahim
Reporter: You had a huge game tonight, and especially near the end, what do you equate to the success
Abdur-Rahim: I just got alot of good dishes from my teammates. Overall I think we passed the ball around nicely and I got the reads I was looking for. The Magic just left too many open holes underneath the basket for me to finish off.
Reporter: Many people believe that the Hornets do not have a stand-out player to help push them into the playoffs. What are your thoughts on that?
Abdur-Rahim: I'm not very happy with those people, and I believe in our team. I mean you saw what we did tonight against a team with more then capable players in Finley and Bibby. We may not have a stand-out player, but we have a solid teamworking group here that can get it done. And every once and awhile, myself and Stephen may turn out to be that one guy that the team rests their shoulders on.
Reporter: Who's play impressed you the most today on your team?
Abdur-Rahim: Without a doubt, Stephen Jacksons, he put up as many points as myself and 3 times the rebounds (11), I'm actually surprised I was present nominated the player of the game, when my stats pale in comparison. I really like this kid, he's young and vibrant and this should be a deciding year for his career.
Reporter: Well said, and thanks for your time Shareef, great victory!
