nickname audio... so frustrated right now... help!

Thu May 12, 2005 7:02 am

i KNOW i've gotten this to work before... i recently re-installed nba live 2005, and when i open players.dbf in my working databases folder, and change my created player's nicknameid's to something in the 9500-9519 range, nothing happens. i save the file, open the game, and then when i come back to the dbf file after i close the game, it has reverted to the original state, with my created players having -1 in the nickname field.

i know i had this working before. does anybody know what i'm doing wrong? this is such a minor thing, but its driving me nuts...

and i hope somebody at easports got slapped for not remembering to put a nickname option in the 'create player' menu...

As far as I know you can't assign an audio nickname anymore. The NICKNAME ID field is a text-only field, related to values in nicknames.dbf.

i believe that the working directory is overwritten by what's saved in the "OrigDB" directory. If you want to save the NICKNAMEID, you have to save it to the OrigDB directory (there's one in your My Documents folder and also one in the installation folder...not sure which one is the true starting point...I'd save it to both OrigDB directories)...not the Working directory

That's how it works for me...

I've created my player and went to nicknames.dbf and wrote that nicknameID to the players.dbf, and the commentator said BIG FREEZE in my game.

slam it like josh wrote:I've created my player and went to nicknames.dbf and wrote that nicknameID to the players.dbf, and the commentator said BIG FREEZE in my game.

It works exactly like that. I assign nicknames to rookies from the rookie Patch, like JJ for JJ Redick

Does he have to be created? When I toggle in players.dbf to "ISCREATED" to true then Marv/Czar will say his name but I lose his face but when I turn ISCREATED to false, then he gets his face back but loses his name...can anyone win in this situation?

hope this would help...

ok here's what you have to do:

dbf files needed

-nicknames.dbf [ID(9500-9519)]
-players.dbf (ID7)
-appearance.dbf (APPEARID)

1. open players.dbf and go to your created player

2. change its ID7 number of your created player, to the corresponding ID you want ex: 9500 (ATM)

3. then go to appearance.dbf

4. locate the player that you have modified in players.dbf

5. then, change its APPEARID value similar with its ID7 value in players.dbf

6. save all record.

7.load your roster and play the game.

Enjoy! :D

Note:

set iscreated to False

calling your created player to his surname.

dbf files needed

players.dbf (FNAME,NAME,Number,PLYRPKG)
appearance.dbf (APPEARID,ID7)

ex: Marvin Williams

PA Announcer will call him as Monty Williams ;)
Marv will call him as Williiams not by his jersey number. ;)

things to do:

1. search for monty williams' record
2. edit fname and change it to marvin
3. edit name and change it to williams
4. then go to plyrpkg and change it from MOWILLI to MRWILLI
5. after this open appearance.dbf then locate APPEARID value 269
6. then change ID7 MOWILLI to MRWILLI

then that's it load the game ;)
Important:

you should have marvin williams cyberface etc..
back-up your roster first before doing some necessary changes.

I've got few 'odd' things in ur tutorial Gameboy:
1. There's no ID7 in players.dbf (maybe you mean NICKNAMEID).
2. Isn't the APPEARID in appearance.dbf is related with PLAYERID in players.dbf & shouldn't to change?

I know about dat (thanx, btw) . What I mean is in the tutorial (step 2) it sez dat we should change ID7 in players.dbf.
Also, isn't ID7 in appearance.dbf is all about cyberface, not the nickname?
Followin a couple posts above; do u know how to add a nickname for created player with cyberface??
