We got ourselves a NEW FASTEST MAN!

Postby Jackal_ on Wed Jun 15, 2005 7:39 pm

We all watched Donovan Bailey break the world record in the men's 100 meter in 1996 in Atlanta with 9.84 seconds...then Maurice Green with 9.79s...and THEN Tim montgomery with 9.78s. Many thought the record would never be broken... then Mr. Asafa Powell stepped up and clocked a 9.77s performance. That's unbelievable.

Full Story...

Do you think this record can be broken? And if it can, who do you think will break it?
Preparation will only take you so far. After that you've got to take a few leaps of faith.

Asafa Powell believes he can run even faster after setting a new 100m world record of 9.77 seconds.
"It wasn't perfect, my coach is mad at me," said Powell. "In the last 30m, I was tightening up because I was trying to push it too hard when I should have been relaxing down. I can be faster."

There was a time where people thought the 11 second barrier would never be broken, it's just one of those things. I'm sure 50 years from now they'll be up near the 7.9's or something.
