keep it up. i'll try to find a computer. though i will be in the countryside for another week before heading to a city again. nice job dude

cheers....happy with 2-0 lead and I've actually been stepping up in 4th quarters, which if you remember from the past 3 seasons, was always a weakness of the 'Cats :D

glad you're holidaying through China....I know you've got a lotta luv for the place, and have a good time

jxuusa wrote:and if the playoffs change and whatnot. see what you can do to aquire me because if the sonics resign ridnour, i am interested in playing for your team ;)

cool....I'll definitely consider you for the Bobcats now that you have shown interest :D I'm in need of a starting SG and you might be an ideal player for my team as I want my starting SG to have PG skills (which you have) so that Arenas can play off the ball, but also have good shooting ability (which you also have)....it will all depend on whether I can get a quality SG in free agency or not (like Wade or someone like that)....I have about $12 mill to spend....I wouldn't bring you in if I signed a big name....you can be a contingency plan, provided the Sonics don't want too much

SHAQ AND FRIENDS DEMORALISE THE BOBCATS ON THEIR HOME COURT

GAME 3 (SIMMED GAME):

FINAL 1 2 3 4 Total
Bobcats 15 25 19 16 75
Heat 26 33 28 19 106

GAME RECAP:

My 1st simmed game of the playoffs and I got blown away by the Heat, as it was never close. Shaq had a moster game with 41pts, 17rebs and 5blks, and seemed to single-handedly dominate this one.

The Miami Heat have now pegged by a game and now trail 2-1 in the best of 5 series. A win in game 4 would tie it up and send the series back to Florida, which is the last thing that the Charlotte Bobcats want. The Bobcats will look to wrap this one while they can, or this series could easily slip from their grasp.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

BOBCATS

G. Arenas - 16pts, 5rebs, 5asts, 3stls, 1blk
B. Simmons - 16pts, 10rebs, 1ast, 2stls
E. Okafor - 8pts, 11rebs, 2asts, 3blks, 1stl

HEAT
S. O'Neal- 41pts, 17rebs, 2asts, 5blks (Player of the Game)
E. Jones - 18pts, 4rebs, 2asts, 4stls
D. Wade- 13pts, 2rebs, 7asts, 1stl

COACH OF THE YEAR

Sacramento Kings' coach Rick Adelman took the 2006/07 Coach of the Year Award as he once again led the Kings to the No. 1 seed in the West. His cause was helped by the improvement shown by 3rd year swingman Kevin Martin, who has stepped in ably for the retired Doug Christie.

Image

Best team out West?!? hmm....they seem to be struggling with the Lakers....good regular season though

TEAM AWARDS

Now for the Team Awards, where the top players, defenders and rookies each get elected by a panel of selectors as the premium players in their fields. We'll start with the All-NBA Teams and work through the All-Defensive Teams and finally, the All-Rookie Teams.

Image
All selections seem just, except for the shocking inclusion of Kings' centre Brad Miller

Image
Shaq leads the All-NBA 2nd team, but it is the Clippers' Elton Brand and Bucks' Michael Redd who have taken their games to the next level

Image
He led the league in steals and was the hub of the Bobcats' perimeter defense, Gilbert Arenas was a good choice to make his 1st appearance in the All-1st Defensive Team. And who said international players can't defend, 3 out of the 5 were born outside of the US (Duncan, Kirilenko and Ginobili)

Image
All of these members barring The Matrix are former 1st Team members. As for Marion, he just keeps getting better and better at the other end of the court

Image
Controversial ROY, the Heat's forward Hakim Warrick leads the All-Rookie 1st Team alongside animous selections, the Clippers' centre Andrew Bogut and the Lakers' PG Leo "Seraph" Reyes. Seraph has to be happy with the honour of the 1st and only NLSC baller to earn 1st Team honours. The final 2 spots are made up of the Hawks' fiesty 2nd Rd PG Travis Diener and the Nets' French centre Johan Petro

Image
The 2nd Team is made up of athletic rookies (Bulls' forward Marvin Williams, Hawks' forward Joey Graham and the Cavs' swingman Gerald Green. But we can't forget a couple of NLSC-ers who have followed The X's 2005/06 effort in making the 2nd Team. The NLSC-ers are the 76ers' PG Mark "match_66" Moore and the Suns' centre Makis "Dweaver" Hassakis

I'm think the Chuckster has some sort of role in the selection of the teams....check the evidence....last season, as a rookie and self-professed fan of the chicken kebab, Mr. Watson scraped into the last spot on the All-Rookie 2nd Team....now this past season, the self-professed King of the Souvlaki, Mr. Hassakis manages to scrape into the last spot on the All-Rookie 2nd Team....Sir Charles has to be involved in this conspiracy....I wouldn't be surprised if Oliver Miller has played a part in this as well

Now go lose to the Heat and keep the damn game realistic!!! j/k

EDDIE JONES HITS TREY TO SEND THE SERIES BACK TO MIAMI

GAME 4 (HUMAN GAME):

FINAL 1 2 3 4 Total
Bobcats 21 24 26 26 97
Heat 29 17 23 31 100

GAME RECAP:

The game started poorly for the Bobcats as Gilbert Arenas picked up 2 quick fouls in the opening couple of minutes in the 1st quarter. He was replaced by Nick Van Exel, who on the very next possession, went down with an injury. This brought rarely used 2nd year SG Andrew Watson into the game as the Heat extended a 1st quarter lead to 14-4. The Heat behind 6pts and 5rebs from rookie Hakim Warrick and a combined 18pts from Shaq, Wade and Eddie Jones, got out to a 23-9 lead. Behind 12pts combined from Guy Dumars and Emeka Okafor, the Bobcats were able to close the 1st quarter down 21-29.

Image
Things went from bad to worse as not only did Van Exel injure himself (above), but ROY Hakim Warrick (below) made the 'Cats look like pretenders rather than contenders
Image

The 2nd quarter was all about the Charlotte Bobcats as they came back from a 27-40 deficit to close out the quarter 18-6 to only trail by 1pt (45-46) at the break. Okafor (8pts, 4rebs), Dumars (7rebs) and Simmons (7pts) led the comeback for the Bobcats.

ImageImage
Wade (above left) finished off a beautiful alleyoop, whilst Guy Dumars (above right) took on the Diesel. Simmons (below left) picks up an easy fastbreak dunk, whilst Nene (below right) tries to stretch out a cramp
ImageImage

Both teams came out in the 3rd quarter and played tough, with the action going from end-to-end, with the 'Cats taking a narrow 2pt lead (71-69) into the final quarter. Once again Bobby Simmons (7pts) was big for the Bobcats, as was Okafor (6pts). The Heat's dynamic duo were also strong (Wade - 9pts, Shaq - 6pts).

Image
In a tight 3rd quarter, the Bobcats used hustle defense to put easy points on the board as seen by the the thieving Marko Jaric (above). Meanwhile, the Bobcats did everything possible to make life difficult for Shaq (below left), whilst G.A. (below right) rose up for the jam
ImageImage

The Bobcats called on an unlikely player in the 4th, the forgotten X-factor, Andrew Watson. Watson immediately made an impact as he drilled a 3 over Eddie Jones. The next time down the court, he used a push-off of Eddie Jones to create space and he launched another 3 in Eddie Jones' face. For a 3rd straight time down the court, Watson set a screen-and-fade on Wade with Van Exel, and drilled a long jumper in Wade's face. Once Watson's outburst had finished, he had 8 straight points and the Bobcats had turned a 2 point deficit into a 4 point lead.

Image
The X called his own number (notice he signals his own name in each play) 2 straight times down court and delivered to propel the 'Cats to a handy 4th quarter lead
Image

The game went back-and-forward for the rest of the 4th quarter with each team coming up with clutch plays at both ends of the court. Aside from Watson's 8pts, the Bobcats got 10pts from Arenas. Meanwhile the Heat got 12pts from Shaq and 9pts from Eddie Jones.

Image
Shaq was giving no easy buckets in the 4th quarter as Meka quickly learnt

The Bobcats found themselves down 94-97 after Eddie Jones nailed a 3 pointer in the final minute. After a timeout, the Bobcats went to star PG Gilbert Arenas who delivered with a clutch 3 pointer with approximately 26 ticks left on the clock, with the game tied at 97 and seemingly headed into overtime. The Heat had no timeouts left so they got the ball to Dwayne Wade, who wound down the clock, and with about 5 seconds to go found Eddie Jones, who sized up the situation and nailed a clutch 3 pointer in Marko Jaric's mug to give the Miami Heat a 100-97 lead with only 1.2 ticks left on the clock. The Bobcats called a timeout with the series appearing to be slipping out of their hands. Everyone knew that Arenas would get the ball, and he did, but he only had time to shoot a rushed 27 footer which clanged off the rim. The Bobcats lose 97-100.

Image
Time for one last play as coach Bernie Bickerstaff (above) draws up the play for G.A. to tie it with a 3 pointer. Unfortunately, G.A. ended up missing a long 3pt attempt (below) and the game was over!

Image

This loss means that the Charlotte Bobcats continued the series trend of the home team losing as the Miami Heat tied the best of 5 1st Round series at 2-2. The series will now head back to Florida where the Miami Heat will have to like their chances of moving onto the 2nd Round. The Bobcats must be worried about Game 5 as they will go into it with Nene and Van Exel hobbling from minor injuries. If the Bobcats can play loose like they did in the 1st 2 games, then they definitely have a chance to win this series, but with the momentum that Shaq provided in Game 3 and Eddie Jones stole in Game 4, the Heat have to look good to advance to the 2nd Round.

Image
There's nothing that anyone in North Carolina could do to wipe off the smiles off the face of Eddie Jones and his Heat teammates (above). Meanwhile, X (below) feels all alone with no-one to console him after the team once again failed to close out the series at home

BOBCATS STUN HEAT, MOVE ON TO NEXT ROUND TO FACE KNICKS

GAME 5 (INTERVENTION GAME):

FINAL 1-3 4 Total
Bobcats 74 27 101
Heat 77 19 96

GAME RECAP:

In the series decider, I interevened in the 4th quarter down by only 3pts and still in with a big shot of pulling this game out. Through the 1st 3 quarters, Arenas (22pts, 8asts) and Simmons (19pts, 7rebs) were the stars for the Bobcats, meanwhile Wade (19pts, 5rebs, 5asts, 2blks, 2stls) and Shaq (15pts, 9rebs, 2blks) were leading the way for the Miami Heat.

As with most of this series, the 4th quarter proved to be an epic battle with neither side willing to submit to the other. As the 4th quarter progressed, the teams went basket-for-basket as the pressure in the Miami Arena reached a fever pitch. When Gerald Wallace hit a midrange jumper it tied the game up at 94 with 2:28 remaining in the game. This game was coming down to the final minute and which team could handle the pressure.

Image
Okafor makes a breathtaking block that not only took the wind out of the Heat's sails, but I would have to consider one of the best blocks in playoff history. It was a beautiful sight

As the game was winding down and with the Bobcats holding a 97-96 lead in the final minute, the Bobcats got a defensive stop, brought the ball up the court and got it to their franchise player, Emeka Okafor, who was being defended by the overmatched Brian Cook. Okafor schooled Cook with a subtle head fake and went in for a layup and a crucial 99-96 lead.

Image
Okafor was cool and calm under pressure and Brian Cook will be having nightmares over this play for a long time to come

Coming back the court, the Heat went to their main man, Shaq, who was immediately doubled down by Okafor, who was helping out Dumars. Then the unthinkable happenned, "That Guy" came up with "That Steal" against Shaq, and was wise enough to call a quick timeout.

Image
Shaq was finally worn down by the dynamic Bobcats duo, and in the end it made the difference

Gilbert Arenas was immediately fouled on the inbounds, and was sent to the free throw line. G.A. missed the 1st one as The X could be seen with a towel over his head, as he couldn't watch the drama unfolding in front of him. G.A. put up the 2nd free throw and missed again as the pressure got to him. The Heat had one last real opportunity to tie the game up and send it into overtime. However a missed 3pter by Dwayne Wade and defensive rebound by Luke Walton essentially sealed the deal. It was just up to "The Great White Hope" to ice the game, and that he did, making both his free throws to give the Bobcats an unasailable 101-96 lead, which they held after another missed 3pter as G.A. dribbled the last couple of seconds away, and the Bobcats' celebrations began. Bobcats win, 101-96 and move on to face the No. 3 seed New York Knicks in the 2nd Round.

Image
Seal the deal Luke, just seal the deal. Looks like The X will have to shout Luke a pint or two

Image
History is made!!! The Bobcats are dancing into the 2nd Round to face the New York Knicks

This historic win means that the Charlotte Bobcats take the the best of 5 1st Round series over the Miami Heat by 3 games to 2. This was an epic series that initially looked like Charlotte had in the bag after winning the 1st 2 games on the road, and only needing to win 1 of the next 2 games to move on. However Shaq had other ideas as he dominated in Games 3 & 4, and sent the series back to Miami. The Heat had to be favoured in a Game 5 at home, but true to the form of the series, the road team won, in an unprecedented series where no team held a single game on their home court. That is truly unbelievable. For the Bobcats, Emeka Okafor was huge, as he stepped up every facet of his game. Guy Dumars played admirably against the best in the business and did what he was suppose to. G.A. was strong, especially in the 4th quarters of games. Bobby Simmons also stepped up in the latter part of the series and added an extra offensive weapon to go to. For the Heat, it was all about Shaq, Wade, and to a lesser extent, Eddie Jones. The Heat's lack of depth seriously hurt them in this series and had to be the only difference that separated these two teams. For the Heat, it's time to rethink their roster over the summer, especially if Shaq hangs up his size 20 shoes. As for the Bobcats, no one could have seriously expected them to come in and beat Shaq, Wade and the Heat, and they did. Now they must face up against the surging Knicks, who are trying to win their 2nd title in the last 3 years. This Cats-Knicks series should be a dandy.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:

BOBCATS

G. Arenas - 27pts, 2rebs, 8asts, 1stl (Player of the Game)
E. Okafor - 16pts, 13rebs, 3asts, 2stls, 1blk

Aaaaaah, the intervention

cheers :) I think :? what do you mean by this  ? intervention makes it a lot tougher than actually playing whole game....I got fortunate in this series that in both intervention games, I entered both of them down by only a few points, whereas the simmed game I lost by about 30....and I split the human games....

2nd Round won't be easy....simmed game 1st, before human, then intervention and simmed and human again if necessary....

Nice win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers, Cats move on :chug:

Sit wrote:Damn 1 point loss to the Wiz.... aww man!

ahh well, look at the bright side of it....you can work on your game in the off-season and come back better....but yep, Magic were unlucky....a very close and low scoring series between 2 evenly matched teams....

cheers, although I wouldn't use the word "contender" yet....we're still "pretenders"....if we get by the Knicks, then everyone can jump on the bandwagon  I think Knicks will be tough and should be another even series that could go either way....I'll take one game at a time, and hopefully Arenas dominates Marbury

Yes! No title for the Heat  At least thats guarenteed now. I'm glad you beat them and Arenas stepped up with that 27-point performance in a big game. Maybe your title hopes can start now. :P

congrats to ceekay in Round 1 for his score of 14....now if only he had got completely behind his Knicks for a sweep, he would be streaking away....whilst he picked 4 correct teams to advance, unfortunatley for magadag25, he was the only person who didn't pick a series result correctly and languishes at the bottom in unlucky 13th....

LEADERBOARD (After Round 1)

1st - ceekay (14pts) *NLSC-er*

that's all for now....need some sleep....if I got anybody's scores wrong which is always a strong possibility given the number of people, let me know what I've got wrong and I'll adjust your score....

I'll post previews and brackets for round 2 tomorrow so you can get picks in then unless you want to put them in now....

cheers
