Can't resign players after installing roster patch

In the offseason in dynasty mode, i can't resign players. Their salaries show as either 0k or 7k when i go to resign them. When i move onto the next day the game crashes. What?

I've tested the roster thoroughly, and have not encountered this error. Have you made any changes to the dbf files yourself, and are you sure you're using the NLSC update?

i havnt touched the dbf files and the roster was dl'ed from a link here, the original rosters that came with the game have also disappeared; when i press reset it goes to an old roster that i had with a random created player.

That shouldn't happen with the NLSC update as it doesn't replace the default rosters unless you manually do so by copying files to the originaldb folder.

is there anyway that i can fix this without reinstalling?

Simply restore the originaldb folder from your NBA Live 2005 CD. Even if you do have to re-install, you can just backup your save folders (though the game doesn't remove save folders during an uninstall/re-install, it doesn't hurt to back them up as well).
