Besides, I didn't know who they were at the time and not all of them were on my list so I couldn't block all of them.

I like it, but think of a different slogan.

You can block them by right-clicking on their nickname, there's a block option in that pop-up menu.
You can disable people that aren't on your list from talking to you, it's an option in your personal settings.
