Thanks X. I see what your saying. I actually signed Jelani, because Theo was playing like 44 minutes a game, and he was the best backup C out there. But then the Knicks were very interested in him. I mean I didn't purposely do it.

Anyone have ideas on who to get for Nick and Viktor?

Portland, Oregon- This mourning the Bucks and Blazers announced that they had made a 6-player deal involving veteran Nick Van Exel and young center Dan Gadzuric. The Bucks got Nick Van Exel and Slovenian Bostjan Nachbar, for seldom-used Calvin Booth, Dan Gadzuric, and Toni Kukoc.

"When we were offered this trade, we had to pull the trigger. With Ford rehabbing from his almost career-threatening injury we needed a veteran that could come in and start for us for the year. Nick was the perfect guy were looking for." said Bucks GM.

"Nick was definitely expendable for us, with Telfair now able to backup the PG spot, he's development will be even faster. Nachbar is a very young player, but he just wasn't fitting into our system and had some problems with other players on the team, namely JR Smith." said the Blazers GM, "We needed a young, back up C to relieve Theo, because Theo can't play 40 mpg, and in this trade, we got one. Not to mention we got a nice shooter in Kukoc.

Blazers end November 6-8

The Blazers ended a trade-filled month with a 6-8 record, losing the last game to the Sonics. Early in the month the Blazers decided to go young when they traded for HSer JR Smith and Trevor Ariza. While most don't expect the Blazers to make the playoffs this year, this young core of players are surviving. Barely out of the playoff hunt, and only 2 games under .500 is pretty good for a team that only had a few players older than 23.

Below is all of the stats, results, standings and players/rookies of the month:

Portland, Oregon-Blazer's Rookie Shooting guard JR Smith won West Rookie of the month yesterday while averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Even though JR has been inconsistent, as the season progresses so does his game. As the season wears on Smith seems to become more consistent, while also teasing us with flashes of potential. JR is just happy to actually have the oppourtunity to play, let alone start for a team.

"When we traded for him, we didn't expect nearly this much out of him at first. I remember his first game as a Blazer, he had 25 points, 8 rebounds, and around 7 assists. Those are amazing stats for anyone, let alone a 19 year old rookie. So JR has definitely exceeded expectations so far, and I'd like to be the first to congradulate him on winning this award" said the Blazers GM Jason

"I just love this city man. The fans are the best in the NBA, they are so supportive, but they want you to bring your all every night. I'm glad I won this award, but I think that I'll bring home a few more awards before the seasons over." Said Smith while smiling.

We sure hope so kid.

Blazers Make What Should be Last Trade

Image

Blazers Trade:

Washington Trades:
Image Image Image

Portland, Oregon-The Blazers made what should be their last trade of the season trading the newly-acquired Toni Kukoc with Chris Anderson and European Rookie Viktor Khryapa to Washington for 26 year old Etan Thomas, veteran shooter Anthony Peeler and Damone Brown.

The Blazers plan to use Etan as the backup PF and could play spot minutes at the 5 when Dan and Theo need a rest. Anthony Peeler could turn into the shooter and streaky scorer the Blazers need off the bench, and Damone Brown will be used mostly as an IR filler.

Blazers GM Jason said they made this trade because they needed a fairly young backup 4 they could rely for rebounds and some scoring and was locked up for a few years. Etan sure fits the bill. He is 26 and is under contract for 6 more years at about 4.9 a year. Jason also said that Kukoc is a veteran looking to be on a competing team because he will most likely retire after this season, so the Blazers did him a favor and shipped him to Washington where he can get playing time while competing and playing with a exciting trio in Jamison, Arenas and Larry Hughes.

"Viktor and Khryapa are both good young players, especially Viktor, but with Ariza, and the arrival of Etan, we thought it would only be fair for them to both get playing time in Washington where they are in need of better bench and post players." said Jason.

The Wizards GM had this to say: " Jason pretty much summed it up, it was a great trade for both teams because we got what we wanted. They wanted a great backup 4 in Etan, and we wanted depth and younger players."

---------------------------------------------------------
Unless one of my main players gets injured, I am pretty sure this is my last trade for the season. I got a nice mix of young players, with veteran backups, and we should start reeling off the wins hopefully.

Pretty nice trades here man, you've got 3 rookies on your roster now and I think the can all contribute immediately. Also nice pick up with Gadzuric, he's from my country so I gotta root for him.
Just trying to help here: if you want to play more efficiently with Ariza, play like pick and roll's and such. He can also pass very well for a SF, you will find out when you give him more time. :D Also just train him on his shot.

In 1-2 years, you'll have a really deep team. With that Hawks pick you can also select a young good player (personally I'd go for a big man, but it's early).

The trades aren't great on either end. Crappy players for crappy players.

John WB, my goal for the team is to get young together, and try to make the playoffs, but if not, then thats fine. I plan to be a contender in 2-4 years with the development of Telfair, Smith, Zach, Miles and Ariza.

Game Notes:
-Zach Randolph and Darius Miles both finished with double-doubles. Zach had 18/10, and Darius had 10/10.
-Gadzuric had 8 points and 6 rebounds in 19 minutes, showing why the Blazers got him, as 32 year old Ratliff only player 29 minutes and had 7 points and 5 rebounds.

-Amare, Marion, Johnson and Richardson all finished in double figure scoring, while Nash only had 4 points on 1-8 shooting.
-Waltah went 3-3 from the field and 1-1 from 3 point range.

Blazers Cut Peeler, Sign Baxter and Kutluay

Portland, Oregon- After their loss to the Phoenix Suns, Owner Paul Allen and GM Jason held a press conference announcing the release of Anthony Peeler and the signing of Lonny Baxter and Ibrahim Kutluay. Blazers Management stated during the conference that Peeler had been acting up since the trade from Washington, and was distrupting the teams chemistry. They felt signing Kutluay would replace Peeler's shooting, and even could help JR with his form and shot. Baxter was signed to fill the roster, and to challenge Etan and Zach in practice. He could see minutes during blowouts, and even moving to the primary backup 4 if Zach or Etan get hurt.

Image-"The Blazers had no reason to cut me other than the development of JR and because I didn't fit in with their 'youth' movement. This is bullshit."
