EFFICIENCY:What's Your Lineup's value? Now BOX SCORES incl!

Tue May 03, 2005 5:53 pm

Now that I'm getting back into the swing of things in playing Dynasty Mode, I wanted to find out
what was my most potent starting lineup. So, based off of the infamous Birdie Formula, I re-worked
some code to find out the Value of a player's Performance per Minute that they're on the court:
(for those who are familiar, that would be Raw Birdie Points per Minute)

And so I contrived a tool for all of us to share: HERE!
Like always it extracts the stats from your pstat file.

Here's a screenshot:

Obviously, the higher the value, the more productive that player is on the court.

Let me know if you have any feedback or if you find this tool helpful!

Whats this mean honorglow?

it means that the player that uses his times on the court most efficiently to help his team is Kobe Bryant and then Brian Grant....

I decided to throw in pstats at 35 game point in my season and check it out....guess who was most efficient? 'Meka? no, he was 2nd....GA? no he was 4th...That Guy? no he was 6th....the most efficient was Nene :D

I'll post it in my dynasty in a sec

Yeh, thanks for elaborating The X, we always shave to keep in mind that being efficiently productive doesn't always mean you have to score…of course, playing good solid defense is also productive and this tool is the attempt to quantify that efficiency.

Shaq on my team…doesn’t score a lot but it blocks and rebounds the heck out of himself when he steps on the court.
My question to you is…who the heck is Roger Mason Jr??? He's a crossover maniac on my team(not to mention the leading scorer) but only rated 54? I'm assuming he's not really a scoring machine in real life.

I guess my next task, is to give you comparative numbers from real life players so you can see how your players measure up…I'll also try to break it down by positions…perhaps Point Guards are more 'effective' generally than lets say Power forwards…hmmmmmmm

Hey HonorGlow, I wish you could finally give me my Birdie Info from the end of the regular season  I know you've been busy, but I've been waiting for quite awhile now. About a month in a half.

Wed May 04, 2005 3:23 am

Yeh, I know I've been suckin' it up…and if anybody deserves a shout out is you…I think you've waited even more than a month and a half…I better program myself to not be such a slacker for Live 2006. Perhaps because I'll physically be in Seattle at that time things will fall into place..the freezing Midwest gets to ya…ya know.

...Efficiency rating... now compatible with your BOXSCORES data!

Instructions of course: HERE!

The key stat to look at is Raw Bidies per minute(RawBirdiePmin), this stat should generally be less than 1.

However, for one single game, efficiency on a per minute basis can be somewhat misleading, as a benchwarmer can come in for 49 seconds, drill a 3, and then sit back down but his RawBirdiePmin stat will show something way above 1.

Nevertheless, I made the tool extensible to BOX SCORE stats too! So, enjoy, and post your results! ...and I hope this makes you happy!
