Missing Text Problem

Thu May 12, 2005 11:17 am

Hey guys. I've searched for related threads, but couldn't find any. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

I got caught up in playoff fever and finally went out and got NBA Live 2K5. Got it home, installed, and then patched it, as I know to do with any EA Sports game, heh. Here's my problem:

Everything runs flawlessly, except that certain portions of text are missing in the game. Certain menu options, what I'm assuming are instructions in Dunk School, there's a blank text box at the beginning of 3-Point Shootout, sometimes a blank text box during games, and when I exit a mode, the part where it likely says "Are you sure you wish it exit?" is blank.

I've tried running in all of the preset detail modes (Low -> Maximum), and even some custom ones. Nothing has fixed it.

My stuff:

GeForce 4200 Ti (newest drivers)
SB Audigy 2 (newest drivers)
Athlon 900 (old and slow, but within the required specs)
512 MB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP2

Any ideas? None of the other EA Sports game from the newest generation that I've purchased have this problem (Madden 2K5, MVP 2K5, FIFA 2K5). None of my other games are performing poorly, either. I'm at a loss.

i believe i kno the problem, but to identify, you must tell me which drivers did you get? newest from nvidia.com???

Yes, the 71.89 drivers from nvidia.com. I have a BFG Tech card, so the reference drivers are what it's built to use. The problem also existed with the 71.84 drivers.

yes, back then with my old ti 4200 i had same problem, here is my suggestion, get rid of those drivers and move onto somethin else, i recommend omegadrivers
i think url is http://www.omegadrivers.net
let me kno how those turn out for ya

The Omega drivers wouldn't work for me. They switched my moniter into standby upon bootup, with both Quality and Performance installs.

I tried DHzer0 drivers, but the problem is still there.

I guess I'll try to find another solution tomorrow.
