I'm assuming one of your first sigs? If it is, this might sound tough but this is what I think:

1. pick one color scheme and stick to it. Don't use purple, pure red and black.
2. you did a pretty good job cutting, but try to get rid of the white stuff around him. Also colorize him.
3. Change the quote.
4. Experiment with more backgrounds. Search for tutorials.

What should it way, what colors should be on it?

Well I would usse what you learn there, because you have the same background for both your sigs and it's one of the simplest and most common backgrounds you can make.

Just made a Baron Davis sig. That's my first Cinema 4D render in the background.

haha..nice one (Y)
i wondered how to get a old movie effect to a pic...i searched but didn`t find anything :?

Sun May 08, 2005 9:17 am

Easy. I'll even post pics. :D
Start with this.

Image

Desaturate your image, then go image-->adjustments-->colour balance. Set red to about 75, blue to anywhere from 0 - -15, and yellow to -100. You can of course alter these to get a better effect for certain images.

Image

That's all you need. But if you want you can take a light grunge brush and brush white on top in a new layer. After you've done this, go to hue-saturation and set it to a hue of about 50, saturation of 50, lightness of about -70.

Image

Done.

Made a quick VC sig, not great but I was bored.

If you're looking to improve that I just using a more "dreamy" font and softer red. And the Vince pic looks like it has a bit of a harsh contrast for this pic. I saw a tutorial once about duplicating your pic layer, applying a gaussian blur at something like 5, then fading the effect with some option. Try that out.

I made myself a pretty good (IMO) render in Cinema.

I made that out of pure boredom without very much effort, so I'm not going to do anything to it. Sweet render though.

not exactly :P ...i used Movie Maker and took a screen :P

Mon May 09, 2005 8:09 am

I would say to do that...
Do what Colin told you, then add a layer of noise on top of the pic. Then play around with the blending style and possibly the opacity to make it look older. Then for the lines select two thin lines on the noise layer and do Hue + Saturation >>> Brightness up some. This is my guess though.

Mon May 09, 2005 8:37 am

For lines you could also make a selection that's just 2-3 pixels wide and then fill that with noise, then use a grunge eraser to get rid of some of it so it isn't so uniform.

Mon May 09, 2005 8:50 am

I wanted to use a font Conrad gave me so I made this:

Mon May 09, 2005 9:00 am

Only thing I don't like is the stroke on Ivy, it doesn't look smooth.

You know what pisses me off, you can;t rasterize layer styles. :x Merging layers to rasterize is annoying, let me right click and rasterize. I would say that is the most annoying thing in Photoshop.

Mon May 09, 2005 9:45 am

What do you think? Outer Glow?

EDIT: Image

Mon May 09, 2005 10:18 am

I don't usually like glows, strokes, etc. on people. Maybe make a duplicate layer, and on the one underneath do a radial blur like the background. Maybe another duplicate layer on top of all and set it to hard light. If the hard light makes AI's features too dark just change the levels (ctrl-L) on that top layer.

Mon May 09, 2005 11:23 am

I meant like this:
Image

Mon May 09, 2005 11:29 am

Yeah, I tried that but the background is too bright so you can barely see it.

Mon May 09, 2005 12:30 pm

Made this for YoG!'s dynasty. Jersey's changed, other than Magloire's of course.

YoG, type this in your sig. It will link back to your thread. (Y)
