Blazers opt to start Tinsley

Image Image

Bassy has been hampered by a sore neck he sustained against the atlanta hawks several nights ago, so the Blazers are going to go with Tinsley as the starter, and may stick with him if the team performs well. Tinsley is averaging 9.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 6.1 apg, and 1.5 spg. He has scored in double digits in his two games with the Blazers this season.

Bulls BackCourt Too much for Blazers

Kirk Hinrich and Rookie Ben Gordon outplayed veteran players Ray Allen and Jamal Tinsley in Chicago tonight. Ben Gordon led the bulls with 20 points and Hinrich chipped in 19. In comparison, Ray Allen was held to 14 points and Jamal Tinsley scored 12. Reef led all scorers with 21 points.

Kirk Hinrich - 19 points, 5 assists, 6 boards, and 3 steals.

Too much Reef for the Bucks

The Blazers ended a 6 game road trip on a positive note defeating the Milwaukee bucks by 14 points. Abdur-Rahim had a dominate game scoring 29 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Van Exel had a huge game off the bench scoring 21 points and dishing out 7 assists. Michael Redd led the bucks with 25 points but it wasn't enough.

Blazers inconsistency Continues

The Blazers returned home to face the Philadelphia 76ers. In true Blazer fashion, the blazer's lost to a weaker eastern conference team at home. Chris Webber scored 24 points leading all scorers, picking up the slack for allen iverson who only scored 13.

Chris Webber - 24 points, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 13 boards

Blazers Lose 2 in a row at home

Leading the game all the way into the third, the blazers collapsed and let the spurs win the game. Brent Barry was having visions of his dad Rick
and went off for 35 points tying Ray Allen for games top scorer. The Blazer don't seem to play any better at home than they do on the road.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim abused Amare stoudamire on the blocks, scoring 31 points before leaving the game half way thru the 4th with a minor injury. Amare stoudamire, Quentin richardson, and steve nash all scored 20 + points but it wasn't enough to overcome the combination of Abdur-Rahim and Ray Allen.

The Dwayne Wade-less Heat played a valiant game, but 25 points by shaq wasn't even enough to stop Ray Allen from willing his team to victory. Van Exel had a nice game off the bench scoring 16 points and dishing out 5 assists. The Blazers are currently on a 4 game win streak, but go on a 5 game road trip starting Jan 9.

The Rebirth

Image

Portland, Abdur-Rahim, Ray Allen...not names many have associated with winning the past few years. But here we are in 2005, Portland, Abdur-Rahim, and Ray Allen all 11 games over .500 and currently on a 6 game winning streak.

Abdur-Rahim and Ray Allen have come together to form one of the deadliest duos in the NBA, either one can put up 30+ points on any given night, and they both do it in different ways, Rahim with the inside game and Allen with the outside and slashing game. Bringing the two of them together has been a blessing for both of their careers, Allen is currently averagingn a career high in points and is 2nd in the league in points per game, and Abdur-Rahim has never played on a winning team. They compiment each other so well, and have portland headed for the play-offs.

Blazers come back from Succesful Road trip

The Blazers organization has to be extatic, the team has just returned from a 6 game road trip winning 5 of the 6 games, giving them a record of 25-12. The blazers picked up wins against the knicks, 76ers, Wizards, Hornets, and the kings. Their only loss coming against the powerful t-wolves. The team managers were considering several moves the team could make with the trade deadline coming up next month, but if the winning continues the blazers plan on sticking with the roster they have now.

Blazers pick up win against Cavs

Ray allen scored 27 points pushing his team past lebron james and the cavs. The blazers have only lost one game in january with 4 games remaining...which includes the T-wolves, Spurs, and mavericks.

Growing Rivalry?
Image

In their third match up of the season, the blazers and twolves duked it out again, with a different out come this time. In their previous 2 match ups the Twolves battled their way to 2 victories, but today the blazers were the victors. Every game is a battle between these 2 teams, they match up very well against each other, and could possibly face each other in the first round of this years playoffs.

Blazers Coming Together

Image

The Blazers are starting to play great collecting wins against several play off teams this month. In their past 2 games they've knocked off the spurs and the twolves. The team's next game is against a revamped Dallas team. With a combination of Pryzbilla, Pollard, Ratliff, and Rahim, the blazers were able to contain Tim duncan, while darius miles shut down brent barry and manu ginobli in the backcourt. The Blazers are showing signs of being a real team.

Blazers struggle on offense, defeated by Mavs

Image

Michael Finley and Dirk Nowitzki led the way against the Blazers. Michael finley led all scorers with 28 points and Dirk Nowitzki earned player of the game honors scoring 18 points and grabbing a handful of offensive rebounds.

Michael Finley was on fire and couldn't be stopped. The Blazers tried covering him with ray allen, darius miles, derek anderson, and nick van exel, but to no evail.

Dallas' victory overshadowed rookie viktor khryapa break out game. Khryapa scored 14 points and grabbed 12 boards, keeping the game within reach in the first half when reef and allen were struggling. Allen struggled offensively and defensively scoring only 10 points and being scorched for 28 by Mike Finley.

If both teams maintain their playoff positions, they would meet each other in the first round which would be bad new for the Blazers who have struggled against the top teams in the west.

Blazer's lose to Clippers, 2 home game losses.

Image

The Blazers have lost two games in a row, and seem to have a better record on the road than they do at home. The home crowd may not have been completely won over by the new players just yet. Hopefully by playoff time, if the team is in, we can re-establish some faith with our fans, and we'll play better at home.

Relaxin' with Jesus

January's Superstar interview is with new Blazer...RAAAYYYY JEESSSSUSSS ALLEN!!!!

Image

JakeTheBlazer: So ray, i know you're down with some old school singers, who'd you recommend our younger fans listen to?

Ray Allen: Well i'll start them off with some basics, everyone should listen to these two greatest hits cd, to get into the mind set of Ray. Chaka Khan is just straight out funky and Teddy Pendergrass really knows how to set a mood.

Image Image

JakeTheBlazer: HEY! i have both those cd's! we have something in common!

Ray Allen: uhhh yeah...calm down man.

JakeTheBlazer: Ok, lets move on then, I saw you in He Got Game, how fun was that?

Ray Allen: Well you know, its always nice to work with a beauty like rosario dawson...and a legendary actor in denzel washington. It was a great experience.

JakeTheBlazer: Denzel seemed pretty wack at basketball

Ray Allen: No comment.

Image

JakeTheBlazer: Ok, i feel like you dont want me here, one last question

Ray Allen: Make it quick, i have a manicure appointment in 30 mins.

JakeTheBlazer: fineeee...you've been with jordan brand for quite awhile, what's your favorite J of all time?

Ray Allen: I'd have to say the all black 13's, they were extremely sleek looking...they retroed the thirteen but only came out with 2 of the original colorways, one colorway was all black and had some neon green accents, but nothingn compares to the originals.

Image

JakeTheBlazer: Ok jesus, thanks for your time, i'll let you get to your nail appointment.

Ray Allen: Don't make it sound so queer.

JakeTheBlazer: Well that's all the time we have this month blazer fans! write in with your requests for next months interview if you can find the time!

Ray Allen vs. Kobe Bryant

Image

Even tho he's changed teams, Ray Allen and Kobe still have a feud between each other that Ray Allen likes to play down. Tonight they faced off in Los Angeles and Ray allen won the war and the battle. Leading his team to victory on 28 points and holding kobe bryant to 17.

About his victory over kobe bryant and his lakers "At the end of this season, we'll see who's name doesn't belong in the same sentence...we have a better record than his lakers, and tonight I outplayed him, i think the end of season results will show who the better leader is. Kobe needs to grow up."

Darius Miles on the kobe allen feud "Kobe needs to mature, Ray Allen didnt come into this game focused on his feelings towards kobe. Ray kept his mind on the team and getting us a win, he's a much bigger man then kobe bryant will ever be."

With Trading deadline a week away, Blazers trade disgruntled center

Image Image

The Blazers and Bucks have agreed to trade theo ratliff and richie frahm for Toni kukoc and alan henderson.

Ratliff has been unhappy with his role with the blazers, collecting several DNP-coaches decision this season, while playing back up minutes to Pryzbilla and Pollard. Ratliff was averaging 4 points and 5 boards this season and was making 11 million dollars.

Kukoc has been averaging about 5 points and 3 boards off the bench for the bucks, and should provide a nice offensive low post precense who can step out and hit jumpshots for the Blazers. THe blazers have been looking for a player who could score in the low post off the bench and they found their man in toni kukoc who is making about 3 million dollars this year, and will demand a smaller contract next season than Ratliff.

Blazers waive Alan Henderson, Sign swingman

Image

The Blazers have signed Eddie Robinson to their roster. He brings some great athleticism on the wing. He plays shooting guard and small forward and should provides decent back up incase of injury.

All-Star Weekend Comes Just in Time for Blazers

After an amazing month of january, loosing only 3 games, the Blazers have come into all star weekend with a february record of 5-4 with a couple losses coming at the hands of the bobcats and hornets.

Ray Allen on the upcoming break: " we really needed a rest, we've added a couple new teammates this month, and hopefully we can all get rested and on the same page and make a push for the playoffs after all-star break."

Carmelo shines in front of home crowd, Sophmores crush rookies

It was a blow out from the very beginning, Lebron led the way in the first half, and carmelo finished it in the second. The '03 draft class, may be the best class since the '97 draft. How's this for a line-up - Bosh, Anthony, James, Wade, and Hinrich...in a few years that could be an all-nba line-up. Carmelo Anthony scored 33 points, grabbed 9 boards, and dished out 5 assists, and had 3 steals. Lebron had 28 points, Bosh added 20 boards, and Wade dished 8 assists. Delonte West led the rookies with 21 points.

2005 NBA ALL-STAR 3 POINT SHOOT OUT

Participants:
Image Image Image Image
Image Image Image Image

In an exciting first round, ray allen made it to the final round scoring 28 points out of a possible 30. Rafer alston and Scott Padget both ended up with 26 points and had to go into a tie breaker round, where alston prevailed. Alston went first in the final round and put a lot of pressure on the Blazer's ray allen, by scoring 27 points. Ray Allen came out and hit every basket on the first three racks, but missed 2 regular shots on the 4th rack meaning he had to hit all the balls on the 5th rack. Jesus Shuttlesworth pulled through and nailed every single ball on the 5th rack, earning himself the three point champion, and making the city of portland proud!

Congratulations Ray Allen on winning your second 3 point shoot out!!!
