I'm Officially College Bound :)

Tue Apr 26, 2005 2:11 am

I enrolled in Butler University in Indianapolis today. It is a fantastic feeling because I am one step closer to my goal of working for the Pacers in some way. My foot is in the door, and I hope to get my whole body in the door soon.

I am doing the Postponed arrival program they have there though, so I won't start school untill January 06 because my girl still needs to fill out all her transfer stuff, and we still need to decide where we are going to live there, (if not the dorms) and what we are going to do exactly.

So its a good day for me! now GO PACERS!

Nice one (Y) now you can continue your blossoming romance with Eddie Gill  joking joking.

Tue Apr 26, 2005 3:05 am

Congrats! Maybe you'll meet Ron Artest and he'll eat your nose!

Tue Apr 26, 2005 3:27 am

Congrats, keep up your ambitions, and good luck with your girl too

Tue Apr 26, 2005 3:48 am

Nice. It's always a good time when a young man goes to live alone for college...

What would you like to do for the Pacers anyway?

Tue Apr 26, 2005 4:25 am

That's exactly what I was going to ask. Other than "mop-boy" or those grungy dudes who put the floor together, I didn't think there were many job opportunities for university degree holders at NBA teams.

Congrats on getting to university though :D

Im majoring in journalism so ill hopefully be able to write a collumn for the indianapolis star or something like that. Im minoring in brodcasting, so ill have many assets that the pacers will be looking for.

BTW, Indy, now that your gonna live in Indiana, here's a few laws you should know:

  • Baths may not be taken between the months of October and March.
  • Oral sex is illegal.
  • A man over the age of 18 may be arrested for statutory rape if the passenger in his car is not wearing her socks and shoes, and is under the age of 17.
  • You can get out of paying for a dependent's medical care by praying for him/her.
  • One man may not back into a parking spot because it prevents police officers from seeing the license plate.
  • Check forgery can be punished with public flogging up to 100 stripes.
  • Pedestrians crossing the highway at night are prohibited from wearing tail lights.
  • Men are prohibited from standing in a bar.
  • Drinks on the house are illegal.
  • "Spiteful Gossip" and "talking behind a person's back" are illegal.
  • All males 18 to 50 years old must work six days a year on public roads.
  • Mustaches are illegal if the bearer has a tendency to habitually kiss other humans.
  • If any person has a puppet show, wire dancing or tumbling act in the state of Indiana and receives money for it, they will be fined $3 under the Act to Prevent Certain Immoral Practices.
  • Anyone 14 or older who profanely curses, damns or swears by the name of God, Jesus Christ or the Holy Ghost, shall be fined one to three dollars for each offense, with a maximum fine of ten dollars per day. (This doesn't apply to me yet... :D)
  • The value of Pi is 4, and not 3.1415. ( )
  • It is illegal for a man to be sexually aroused in public.
These are all REAL laws. Remember, when taking any Math class in college, remind your professor that pi is in fact 4. do it on teh first day to make a good impression.

Tue Apr 26, 2005 6:17 am

Tue Apr 26, 2005 7:09 am

Congrats Indy. Nice to see that you're following your dreams. Good luck with your studies and girlfriend and all.
It'll be intresting to hear how the work pans out for you, make sure to keep us updated :)

And that was a nice read G.O.A.T. (y) Are you 100% that all of those are true? I meen the 'Baths may not be taken between October and March' and 'The value of Pi is 4' doesn't make any sence at all... The other ones are just stuiped, but those two are just simply fucked up.

Acoording to this site, in Kentucky there is a law that a person who has been drinking is considered "sober" until you "cannot hold on to the ground"...
how "sober" do you think was teh person who wrote that law?

Tue Apr 26, 2005 7:33 am

LMAO, so as long as you still can "hold the ground" you're allowed to drive even though you have been drinking all nigh?
Americans, never quits to surprise me

Tue Apr 26, 2005 7:58 am

Yeah there's tons of really old stupid laws like that. Stuff like "You can't mow your lawn on Thursday without a shirt on", I have no idea what the purpose was for some of them.

I was laughing so much at the laws I forgot to congratulate Indy. :\ Good luck Indy man, I hope everything comes out well for you.

Did you take any AP classes in high school?

How much does/did it cost to get in?

Tuition is expensive, its about 22,000. Boarding is about 7,000, so me and my girlfriend are still trying to decide if its worth it to live in an apartment or at school.

I had a college bank account that i have been putting half of the money ive made from my jobs in to for the last 5 years since i got my first job, and i now have 19,000 there. So i am going to pay about 5,000 each year for my tuition and my parents are going to pay the rest.

But i also have to pay for pacers season tickets, so i am going to have to work alot when i get there, which is another reason i am doing the postponed start program.

Wed Apr 27, 2005 4:19 pm

Wow you've saved up $19,000? That's a fair effort. I would've bought the gigantic TV I walk past every day that's on sale for $6,000. I'd suggest boarding, I moved into my own place in a different state on my own and the amount of hassles I had to begin with were overwhelming. I couldn't really imagine how difficult it would be with two of you while you're both trying to concentrate on school aswell. So I'd suggest boarding until you get used to the surroundings and everything else, also until you get financially secure to the point where if you get 'surprise' bills (like I seem to get every week) you won't have to panic about it.
