Making a foul

Postby Nicoh56 on Mon Apr 18, 2005 10:26 pm

Hi,

I would like to know how to make an "on purpose" foul at the end of a game when there are only 2 or 3 points between me and the CPU team?

I play on PC with the keyboard, and I have not found yet this wonderful key :-)

Thanks a lot for your answers!

Nico

PS: I have made some searches in the forum but, as I am not English fluent, I think I do not use the right words. Sorry if the answer has already been sent in another post

Make sure you've got a key assigned to the "Playcalling" function. Tap this key when you're on defense to call for an intentional foul.

Thanks for your help Andrew

I only have now to check what "Playcalling" means exactly in french ;-)

PS: This key is called "Tactique" in french. It works very well. So well that I can't stop my players making fouls. Is there another key or another way to stop the Play-calling?

Your players shouldn't keep fouling if you just tap the key once - it's not a defensive play that's run every time you're on defense (like Full Court Press or a Zone).

I have tried it on the beginning of the game.
Perhaps I pressed the PlayCalling key more than one time...

Thanks for your answer!

Though I rarely use the playcalling button, it does contain other basic tactics too... Like you can change your defensive formation with it or something like that.

But when you tap it once, it goes for the intentional foul. It is a one time play and a bit too effective one too... There are times when more than 0.2 seconds goes by before a foul is called even when the guys are trying to intentionally foul...

You can rarely escape it even for a second. The AI wraps up the balled man a little too fast in my opinion. It should take a second or two to get the foul called...

In Finland in the lower series the refs sometimes just looks on when a team is trying to intentionally foul... That just sucks and you basically have to do a really hard foul to get the call sometimes, this makes for some fairly dangerous situations... I've seen injuries due to this... In one game, there was a one or two point difference and a guy went for three at the final second. He was fouled hard and he missed the shot... No foul was called, he hurt his wrist in that play and after the game headed for the doctor. The end result was that he had a broken wrist due to that 'non-foul' that really decided the game... On another occation again with a few seconds left, they were trying to foul the ball handler, made a clear foul and it wasn't called, made a second clear foul and it wasn't called, on the third try a guy just jumped hands first into the ball handler and knocked him hard to the floor with the defender toppling over him... End result, this actually ended up with a foul, but the defender ended up with a sprained ankle when he landed on the attacking guy...

I really hate to see these kinds of plays... I would think that the offensive guy would hate getting hacked on the hands on numerous occations before the foul call... It's ugly and it's very dangerous... That's my little rant on the intentional fouling... Hope you never see these kinds of situations...

Anyway, intentional foul, tap 'Playcalling' button once.
