Well Philly is below the Cavs now, and the Cavs have won 2 in a row. Philly has also won 4 in a row, and the Nets 3 in a row. The problem is that the nets need someone to lose because if they all win, it doesn't help them.

Nets @ Raptors will be an interesting game.

Ugh... I have no problems with the Nets, but I absolutely HATE Vince Carter...... I hope Jalen gives him the smackdown like he did last time. I'll be booing him the whole game from my T.V.

I'll be cheering. I so want the Nets to make it, so at least I'll have one local team to root for in the Playoffs.

SI's Marty Burns seems to think highly of the Nets' chances:

they're not done yet.. but a critical 4 point loss to indiana has just hurt our chances big time... fking pathetic loss.. we were on the verge of drawing even.. now we're 1.5 games behind again.. god our front court is fking useless.. gives up 14 offensive boards and leaves kidd to pick up 14 defensive.. there's your 4 point difference right there.. ridiculous.. can't even rebound.. It's one thing for your front court to be totally useless in the post on offense.. it's another thing for them to get totally dominated on their opponents glass

fking reggie

THE STAGE IS SET. RAPS VS NETS - the Make it or Break it game. Well at least that's how I like to think of it as....

If Philly don't hold off the Heat today, the Nets vs Sixers on Sunday will decide this...

well the nets simply can't drop a game from here on in.. if philly have beaten miami and the pacers by sunday or new jersey has lost to toronto then sunday's game won't help the nets any because philly's last 2 games are at home vs the bucks and the hawks.. and I'm not so sure that beating toronto will be any walk in the park considering that the raptors hold a 2-1 sway in their favour this season

EDIT: holy crap.. tied at 104 a piece.. 11 seconds.. miami timeout.

EDIT2: wade missed the game winning shot.. god.. hearts pounding and I'm only looking at box score update.. god i hate the nba coverage in this country... nj season on the line and I'm watching a stat sheet with baited breath

EDIT3: All over now.. shaq had a chance to pull them within 1 but misses both shots from the line (3 of 11 for the night).. wade's career high 48 point night not enough to get them over the line.. big blow for the nets.. I doubt the sixers will have much trouble with the pacers..

Yeah, what a blow... Now I believe the Sixers will make it... But maybe the Nets can catch the Cavs... They hold the tiebreaker...

New Jersey's just edged closer with a victory over the Raptors. As I'm typing this, Cleveland trail Washington 85-83 heading into the fourth.

And now they're 100-92, Wizards up with 6:00 in the 4th. Philly's tied at 74 with Indiana, 7:41 left in the 4th. Dale Davis is a fucktard :x

god.. the nets are so close to 500 i can taste it.. although philly are definately not going to make it easy.. the key clearly is vince having a 30+ point game (the nets are something like 19-3 when this happens).. but ai is the kind of player who can lift his team to a W with shear force of will.. man I wish I had some way of watching this game (can't even download it because of my ffs australian broadband cap).

With just over six minutes left in the 4th Quarter, the Nets lead the 76ers 91-75.

Cleveland also lost to Detroit today.

If the Nets can hold on for the win against the Sixers they will take the eigth seed away from Cleveland.

Nets win 104-83.

Carter scored 43 and Kidd had another Triple-Double.

The Nets and Cavaliers are now both 40-40 but the Nets take the eigth spot because they lead the season series over the Cavaliers 3-1.

This certainly makes the Nets' offseason moves look a little better. It also makes the Orlando Magic's collapse look even worse, let alone the Cavaliers'.

Nets are tied with the Cavs, and hold the season series, so basically they're currently in the 8th spot with the Cavs out of the playoffs.
