Prince's 1st Triple-Double Carries
Pistons over rival Celtics.

Image
Tayshaun prince had a great game against the Celtics tonight.

DETROIT (AP) - Tayshaun Prince was thePpistons Mr.Everything tonight nabbing a triple-double in Detroit's 97-90 win over Boston.

Prince had his career game in a great fashion. He had 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the win. Not to mention the 2 steals and a block.

"I had a great game tonight," said Prince who also stoped any chance of a comeback by blocking Paul Pierce's three pointer with 34.7 secounds left. "I just was getting everyone involved and I even got to play the point a bit too."

When asked about that coach Larry Brown said "That was just somthing I tried in the 2nd to see if we could use him(Prince), Rip, McDyess, Ben and Rasheed on the floor at the same time." said Brown. "We really played them hard all game and Rasheed has been in a little slump latley and he broke out tonight."

Rasheed Wallace led the Pistons with 25 points and 8 boards, with Rip scoring 24. Ben Wallace shut down the paint to the big men tonight and grabbed 9 rebounds to go with 12 points, just short of a double-double again, Chauncey chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. For Boston Paul Pierce had 24 points, Gary Payton had 15, and Ricky Davis had 14.

The status of the Pistons bench swingman has repotedly been solved with Detroit trading little used G Horace Jenkins to Houston for G-F Reece Gaines

Pistons Acquire G-F Gaines From Houston

Image
Reece Gaines hopes to start fresh in Detroit.

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Pistons have made the first trade of the NBA season trading 30 year old rookie Horace Jenkins to Houston for 2nd year player Reece Gaines.

"Reece has been an interesting player since the draft 2 years ago. We would have picked him if he fell to us but that didn't happen. Reece is here to fill out our guard rotation, hes been behind Tracy McGrady his whole career, Theres not much playing time in that situation." Joe Dumars Piston's Vice-President of Basketball Operations told media Tuesday morning.

Gaines, the Former Louisville star has not played a game this season and averaged just 1.8 ppg in 38 games with Orlando last season. Jenkins is expected to be released by Houston and then resigned by Detroit.

~~~~~~Was it a good trade guys or should i have kept looking?~~~~~~
Fri Apr 01, 2005 11:00 am
I think it was a real good deal. Nothing real big, but in the long run, Gaines could be the better player. Nice job on the dynasty so far (Y)
Neither really do anything from the games I've seen with them.
I've never played with them in NBA Live though.
Williams 23 Second-Half Points Sink Detroit
Image
Memphis Grizzlies' Pau Gasol only had 7 points Wednesday but his energy led the Grizzlies to an 88-95 victory over the
Detroit Pistons in Memphis, Tenn.
DETROIT (AP) - Tayshaun Prince was the man in Memphis until the 4th quarter.
Prince had his string of good games going. He had 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 17 minutes.
"It looked painful," said Chauncey Billups. "I got hurt like that in the playoffs 2 years ago and it put me away for awhile."
You may wonder how did how did he get hurt? Well It happened with 1:01 left in the game when Tay drove to the basket and was fouled hard, and then he left the game with a sprained ankle. This wasn't the first injury tonight with Lindsay Hunter getting hurt in the 3rd but he was able to come back. From there Jason Williams sealed the game making 8/10 free throws in the fourth.
When asked about the injury coach Larry Brown said "That was big. We had no other 3point shooters down the stretch except Chauncey, and Tay had to leave for the locker room."
Rasheed Wallace had a dissapointing game with 5 points and 6 boards, with Rip scoring a bad 8. Ben Wallace shut down the paint to the big men tonight and grabbed 7 rebounds but nothing else, Chauncey had 18, 15 points in the fourth. For Jason Williams had 34 points, Mike Miller had 18, and Shane Battier had 14.
The number 1 team in the league as of now is Memphis at 10-1 and Detroit is 7-4.
The Prince is Out
Image DETROIT -- Detroit Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince will miss the next three games because of a level 2 sprained ankle, including Saturday night's matchup with the Washington Wizards.
Prince, who was Fouled hard with 1:01 left during a loss against Memphis, also will be out for Sundays game at Miami and the game against the Lakers.
Pistons coach Larry Brown was very dissapointed with the MRI results.
"With anyone else, you would just tape it up a little tighter and go," Brown said. "With Tayshaun, we're just hoping he'll be back soon. He's carried us these last few games, you don't want him favoring it, which could throw him out of balance and potentially cause a problem."
Forward Ronald Dupree or guard Carlos Aroyyo are expected to fill his role in the starting line up, Brown said.
Prince is averaging 13.3 points and 3.4 rebounds, and is the Pistons 3rd leading scorer. Also announced is that newly aquired G-F Reece Gaines has benn activated
Guard Lindsay Hunter is expected to sit out the Wizards game with the flu.
That really sucks. A loss and you lose a key player.
Princeless Pistons Struggle Against Wizards
Image
Larry Hughes after sealing the game
with two free throws on Saturday.
DETROIT (AP) Their star Point Guard, Chauncey Billups, had had a horrible game. But that was no excuse. Despite Chauncey's terriable totals (12 points, 0 rebounds, 5 Turn overs, 3 assists) they should have won. Rasheed's 4 threes in the fourth should have sealed it.
But they lost.
The Pistons had been down 10 points at 1:13 left in the 4th. They rushed out of a Larry Brown time out and Rasheed Wallace all of his points in that quarter but all four of his threes were in that time.
They led 37-35 at halftime and they lost it in the fourth.
"This one probably hurts more than any of our previous losses," said Rasheed Wallace, who scored all 16 of his points in the fourth quarter. "We definitely should have played harder down the stretch. I thought we were over that."
"I still don't believe it," said Rip Hamilton, who had a hard fought 14 points. "We're just shocked."
Despite 6 Pistons scoring in double figures, the team just couldn't come through after Gilbert Arenas hit back-to-back threes in the final 2 minutes.
Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, and Carlos Delfino (11) all scored in double digits.
But Washington got balanced offensive performances from Gilbert Arenas (26 points), Antwan Jamison (14 points), Larry Hughes (16 points), and Juan Dixon (7 points), and that was enough to prevail.
Many Pistons refused interviews after the game, including Ben Wallace.
Atkins Torches Detroit
Bryant Add's Finishing Touch
Image
Kobe Bryant after draining his Buzzer Beater
three-pointer to beat the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
Detroit - Think back to two nights ago(oops you cant :oops: ), when the Detroit Pistons trailed by 2 points with 1.1 seconds left, only to come down and defeat the New Jearsy Nets on a buzzer beater.
Well, now the Pistons know how the Nets felt.
The Los Angelas Lakers, who trailed by one with 3.2 seconds left, capped off an improbable full-court rundown with a game-winning triple by Lakers star Kobe Bryant as time expired, defeating Detroit, 79-77.
LA went on a 7-0 run to begin the 4th quarter. The cool-and-collected Pistons then mounted a comeback, going on a 7-0 run of their own. This run was capped off with a dunk by Rasheed Wallace, who had 10 points, which gave the Pistons a one point lead with 7.1 seconds to go. However, Los Angelas took it right upcourt, and Bryant nailed the three as the buzzer sounded.
"I knew Larry(Brown) wasnt going to play the defense in the front court so I just ran up and put up the jumper," said a tired but happy Bryant. "I saw Chuck (Atkins) WIDE OPEN at the top of the three point line but I had to keep my rep(Ball Hog) up and shoot the three."
Ronald Dupree tried his best to topple the team he almost signed with last off season, scoring up 10 points and grbbing 2 rebounds for the Pistons. Chauncey Billups added 12.
"This loss...it feels just like when Kobe hit that shot in game two of the Finals last year," said Pistons Coach Larry Brown. "There was nothing we could do. He (Kobe) was going to hit that shot no matter what we did to him."
Chucky Atkins posted impressive numbers for LA against his former team, racking up 26 points on 6 of 15 shooting from three. Atkins also had 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Bryant totaled up 21 points.
INJURY REPORT: Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince reinjured his ankle early in the fourth quarter. He did not return, but is not expected to miss any further time with the injury.
Wife of Pistons' Darvin Ham arrested in domestic assault case on husband Ham
November 13, 2004
Image
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- The wife of Detroit Pistons forward Darvin Ham was arrested early Friday on a domestic assault charge, authorities said.
Oakland County sheriff's deputies were called to the couple's Rochester Hills home about 3 a.m. EST, Sgt. John Jacobson said. According to a sheriff's report cited by The Daily Oakland Press of Pontiac, Deneitra Ham allegedly struck her husband on the head with a wine bottle during a domestic dispute.
Ham, who was bleeding when deputies arrived but refused medical treatment, did not wish to press charges against his wife. But deputies took her into custody under a Michigan law allowing a police officer to make an arrest if the officer has reasonable cause to believe an assault has taken place.
Deneitra Ham was arraigned later Friday on a charge of domestic abuse and was released on a personal bond, Jacobson said. Misdemeanor domestic violence is punishable by up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Ham, a reserve who has played in 13 games this season, was placed on Detroit's injured list March 13 with tendinitis in his right knee. He was not present at The Palace of Auburn Hills for the Pistons' game Friday night against Toronto.
Ham, 31, has played eight NBA seasons with six teams. He is in his second season with the Pistons.
This is a cool franchise, Rip- are you planning on making any trades? Or do you want to keep the squad together for a repeat?
If you go the trade route, I suggest getting a go-to scorer. Dwyane Wade for Rip Hamilton and Billups, maybe? Then you can start Arroyo at the point, and your lineup would look like:
B. Wallace
R. Wallace
Prince
Wade
Arroyo
:shock:
But no matter what, don't get rid of Ben Wallace- he's the heart & soul of your team, and the best defender in the world. 8-)
Another loss. That sucks. Your dynasty is great though. Keep it up. (Y)
