LA Clippers with Fantasy Draft v2 [Game 2 recap up]

Postby OrangeBlood on Fri Apr 01, 2005 7:44 am

Here goes my second attempt at this, instead this time I will be using NBA Live on my CPU instead of on PS2 like my previous dynasty was.

This will be a fantasy drafted CPU simulation dynasty, meaning I will control the team like a Owner/GM but will play the games CPU vs CPU.

Dynasty Settings:

Image

I will be using NLSC v1.09 rosters and my own slider edits.

Coming up will be the draft results.

Fantasy Draft Results:

Using the draft randomizer the Los Angeles Clippers recieved the 12th pick in the draft.

Round 1:

Image
Jason Richardson
Position: SG/SF
Height: 6-6
Weight: 225 lbs
College: Michigan State

Has good vision on the court , Has a tenacity for rebounding, unbelievable vertical. Has developed a nice mid-range, and is becoming very good at hitting the three pointer. A major workhorse, always critical of his game always trying to improve it. Loves to play in the transition. Very exciting to watch because when the ball is in his hands, something exciting usually happens. Really loves to play in the big games.

Round 2:

Image
Richard Jefferson
Position: SF
Height: 6-7
Weight: 222 lbs
College: Arizona

World class athlete with great strength. Defense is his greatest asset. Potential is very intriguing despite his current skll level due to the fact that he was a post player in high school. He is still getting a feel for the perimeter after three years at Arizona on the wing.

Round 3:

Image
Emeka Okafor
Position: PF/C
Height: 6-10
Weight: 252 lbs
College: Conneticutt

A tremendous rebounder and shot blocker. Emeka is an extremely intelligent and hardworking player with a great future ahead of him. Okafor possesses unbelievable shot blocking instincts, making him a true difference maker on the defensive end. He is excellent at timing his jumps and moving his feet to alter shots. His intelligence and athletic ability has also made him a proficient rebounder and outlet passer. Offensively he shows good touch and a nice assortment of post moves. His jump shot is really developing and in time will become a nice weapon. In addition, he has good footwork and is very coachable.

Round 4:

Image
Jamaal Tinsley
Position: PG
Height: 6-3
Weight: 195 lbs
College: Iowa State

Electric ballhandler, and passer. Very good strength and determination. Can knock down the 3 ball or shots off the dribble. Very good at creating for teammates, and running the show. Excellent quickness, plays big in big games.

Round 5:

Image
Chris Mihm
Position: C
Height: 7-0
Weight: 265 lbs
College: Texas

Very good offensive game, can score in many ways on the block. Good medium range shooter. 7 footers with his agility are rare. Potential is very good.

Round 6:

Image
Antonio McDyess
Position: PF
Height: 6-9
Weight: 245 lbs
College: Alabama

Once an athletic freak. Was one of the best rebounders in the league and an excellent defender. Could score 20 points per night thanks to his once amazing physical skills. More of a finesse player now. Still a very good player.

Round 7:

Image
Devean George
Position: SF
Height: 6-8
Weight: 240 lbs
College: Augsburg

Good attitude and athleticism. Good rebounder for his position. His outside shot lacks consistency. Mediocre ballhandling skills. Not a threat one-on-one.

Round 8:

Image
Dahntay Jones
Position: SG
Height: 6-6
Weight: 210 lbs
College: Duke

Awesome athlete. Can get to the basket. Great offensive rebounder. Good perimeter defender. Jump shot still needs work.

Round 9:

Image
Brevin Knight
Position: PG
Height: 5-10
Weight: 170 lbs
College: Stanford

Plays under control and makes good decisions. Great quickness, and an excellent defender on the ball. Hard to see him missing that 18-foot shot and is not a threat from beyond the arc.

Round 10:

Image
Fransisco Elson
Position: PF/C
Height: 7-0
Weight: 235 lbs
College: California

Very strong and athletic. Good shot blocker. Runs the floor well. Can occasionally hit the open jumper. Doesn't have much of an offensive game. Foul prone.

Round 11:

Image
Royal Ivey
Position: PG/SG
Height: 6-3
Weight: 200 lbs
College: Texas

Four-year starter, who finished his career ranked 24th on the Longhorns' all-time list with 1,036 points. Known mostly for his defense, both on and off the ball. Great perimeter defender. Earned Big 12 all-defensive team honors two times in his career. Had 124 steals at Texas, including 41 in 2003-04. A natural shooting guard, but also filled in at point guard. Moves well without the ball. Holds the school record for games started (126) and is tied for third with former teammate Brandon Mouton for career games played (133). Had 300 assists at Texas, including 141 in 2003-04. Has trouble breaking down offenses and creating opportunities for teammates, and isn't much of a shooter. His deficiencies make him a marginal NBA prospect.

Round 12:

Image
DeSangana Diop
Position: C
Height: 7-0
Weight: 300 lbs
High School: Oak Hill Academy HS

DeSagana Diop is a very athletic big man. he's 300 pounds and runs the floor like a small forward. He's very fast. Coming from Senegal, Africa, he's only been playing competitive basketball for a few years so he figures to get a lot better. Right now his best asset is his defense. He can hold opposing centers virtually scoreless with his smothering style of defense. He is a very good shot blocker, and can also help out and block other opposing players shots.

Los Angeles (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers look to avoid a season opening loss when they host the Seattle Supersonics tonight at the Staples Center.

After finishing last season on a sour note loosing 14 out of their last 15 games and missing the playoffs once again the Clippers want to get out to a fast start on the season to avoid any lingering effects of last seasons poor performance.

Jason Richardson joined the Clippers over the offseason after scoring 18.7 ppg in the 2003-2004 season to lead the Warriors. Richardson is on the cuspt of becoming an NBA superstar and became a household name after winning the slam dunk contest both in 2002 and 2003 joining only Michael Jordan (1997 and 1998) as the only two players to win back-to-back slam dunk contests.

While Emeka Okafor is only a rookie all he did his senior season was lead the UConn Huskies to a NCAA National Championship. He was a National Player of the Year candidate and started all 67 games in his two seasons, averaging 11.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 4.4 blocked shots per game. Has 28 career double-doubles... Holds the UConn career record for blocked shots with 294 (4.38/game) and holds the top two single season marks for blocks with 156 (in 2002-03) and 138 (in 2001-02)... His 4.38 career blocked shot average is No. 7 in NCAA history and the best overall average in BIG EAST history.

With the newly aquired talent head coach Mike Dunleavy has decided to implement the inside triangle offense to highlight the skills of Richardson, Richard Jefferson and Okafor. Not only does he hope this will lead to increased production out of his stars, but that the new offense will lead the Clippers to the playoffs as teams running the triangle offense have won 9 of the last 14 NBA Championships.

It will not be easy to start off hot as the Sonics come in sporting a superstar cast of their own. Vince Carter joins the Sonics after leading the Nets last season in scorimg with 26.5 ppg. He will be joined in backcourt with Larry Hughes who averaged 22.0 ppg last season.

Look for this game to get off to a frenzied pace and come down to the wire.

Recap:

Clippers Soar Past Sonics 117 - 101

Image
Jason Richardson notched 35 points for Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 (Ticker) -- Jason Richardson is giving the Los Angeles Clippers hope for the future.

Richardson scored 35 points and made a series of big baskets down the stretch as the Los Angeles Clippers won their first season opener in seven years, a 117-101 victory over the Seattle Supersonics.

"Jason is a tough matchup for anybody," said Sonics forward Vince Carter, who was assigned to Richardson most of the game. "When he really gets it going, they're tough to stop because then you get to focusing so much on him that you tend to forget about the other guys and those guys can hurt you."

Richard Jefferson did just that as he accounted for 27 points and 4 rebounds on the night.

"The bucket's looking pretty big right now," Jefferson said. "I feel like I can get my shot off when I want. I feel when I release it it's going to go in. It's a great feeling to have." Jefferson drained 10 of 18 from the feild and 6 of 9 from the charity stripe on the night.

The Sonics made it close late behind the strength of Chauncey Billups 28 point night, but just didn't have enough in the end to stop the dynamic duo of Richardson and Jefferson.

"It was close and then we turned the ball over a couple of times," Seattle guard Larry Hughes said. "We missed free throws, easy layups. They made them on the other end.

Hughes had 13 points and two assits as every Sonics starter scored in double-digits.

Game Photos:

Clippers huddle late in the second quarter to think things over.

Jason Richardson sinks a few more free throws in the forth.

Okafor returns an offensive rebound to its rightful place.

Vince Carter goes skyward.

Los Angeles Clippers (1-0) vs. Portland Trailblazers (0-1)

Image
Richard Jefferson soared against the Sonics.

PORTLAND (Ticker) -- Jason Richardson looks to continue to provide a spark for the Los Angeles Clippers when they face the Portland Trailblazers tonight for the first time this year.

Aquired during the off-season Jason Richardson collected 35 points and 6 rebounds Wednesday as the Clippers posted their first season opening victory in the last seven years, a 117-101 win over the Seattle Supersonics.

Richard Jefferson is looking agian to provide that one-two punch he and Jason Richardson had in Wednesday nights game against the Sonics when he had 27 points and 4 boards.

Waiting for the Clippers will be Dirk Nowitzki who exploded with 18 points and 15 rebounds in the Trailblazers first game of the season. Nowitzki will look to continue his stellar play heading into tonights game as he is looking to add to his MVP type numers.

Joining Nowitzki will be defensive specialist Ron Artest who surprized many in his last game putting up 21 points and 8 rebounds in Wednesday's dissapointing loss to the Golden State Warriors.

with CPU vs. CPU, you just watch the games?

That sounds extremely boring. Why not play? And I don't see the point in a dynasty if you're not going to play.

Actually its kinda of entertaining as I work from home and watch while I am working. I can't play, but I can watch and hit F12 to take pictures for this dynasty story while I am working.

It's just like watching a basketball game on TV. I actually play the games in my other dynasty with the Dallas Mavericks but I wanted to see if I could make the game more realistic, achieve realistic scores, stats, and results which is why I am doing this CPU vs CPU dynasty.

Yes but they both took 23+ shots to get to those numbers and Richardson went to the line 7 times.

I can deal if its a one game trend. If it continues to happen I'll change the sliders alittle to compensate.

Hey I like Devean George, he's athletic. Started 79 games. He put up 8.3 pts/g, .8/rb/g
and 1.3 a/g yeah the rebs and assidts need work but he was my sesond leadin scorer. i played a lakers dynasty 2min, rookie settings went 77-5, won championship, went 16-0 in the playoffs mainly cuz of him and kobe hitting the 3balls. im not sayin ur wrong for tryint o get rid of him, but give him a chance, whenever j rich or jefferson gest tired put him in at SG.
Maybe next year Lakers!!!! It's Shaq's turn this year.
