Port forwarding behind a router

Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:51 am

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldnt find it via search.

Can anyone tell me what ports need to be forwarded for playing games via network tcp/ip if you are behind a router?

Thanks.

It would seem this secret is better guarded than the recipie for KFC

Ive played in Madden leagues for years and always could find this information for madden. For this series there seems to be no information which I find curious because Im sure not everyone that plays online uses the eanet format. Dunno maybe Im wrong.......

It used to be on the EA website, and i had it :(

But i lost it when i upgraded the firmware in my router.

If you are using a firewall or a router, you will need to open the following ports to play online:

TCP/IP ports must be open in the outbound direction:
HTTP 80 TCP/IP
HTTPS 443 TCP/IP
MsgConn/IM 13500-13599 TCP/IP
Roomsvr 26500-26599 TCP/IP

The following UDP ports must be opened for game packets for the outbound
and inbound connections:
Game Packets 3658 UDP

Please refer to the manual that came with your firewall or router or consult its manufacturer for instructions on opening these ports.

Just found it again :D

I would of thought however if you forward port 80 to your computer no other computer on your network would be able to browse the internet :(

Well for the newer routers I think you can designate inbound and outbound so that wouldnt be a problem but with the older ones like I think mine is I dont know if you can designate that. Thats stupid to use that port but with past experience with EA they do a lot of stupid things :?

Thu Mar 24, 2005 8:20 am

how to u do that outbound stuff

Thu Mar 24, 2005 8:33 am

on the newer routers you can designate if you want ports open to inbound or outbound on the older ones you just direct the ports for both inbound and outboud.

I could be wrong though Im not at home where I can look at itl

i just hosted a game fine and i didnt have either the HTTP or the HTTPS ports forwarded to my computer, you might need those forwarded for the official EA Sports matchup but you dont need them for direct internet connect.
