Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

Hi guys, i've been playing LIVE 05 using Andrew's sliders. I'm curious as to whether u guys have this problem stopping CPU mid range jumpers. Seems that any Tom Dick or Harry shoots the mid range jumper at an incredible percentage as long as i'm leading, even if by just 2 pts. N i do guard them myself instead of letting the CPU do my dirty work cause they do it worse. Doesn't matter whether i jump n put a hand in their face, or 2 guys jumping at them, they'll just sink it. Andrew, any help here? I dun think i'm tt bad till the CPU can do this to me all the time... many thanks for ur time...

Decrease their mid-range shooting
Or call for a double team when they start to drive or something

Try reducing the sliders, but remember that part of the CPU's challenge, especially on harder difficulty levels, is to make impossible and heavily contested shots.

Mid rang are hardest to contest, you have to be right up there to stop the look. Further out you dont need to be quite as exact to put them off and further in you get help d from the big guys. Mid range? its screen city baby.

Thanks for the advice guys, i'll either adjust the sliders or live with this glitch. I just don't like it when the score on 12 min quarters end up wif like 136-129 or something along tt line. Can never seem to keep the cpu under 100 with that bizarre midrange technique of theirs. Lotsa thanks to you all, appreciate it very much!

Why don't you give them a taste of their own medicine?, match mid-range jump shot for mid-range jump shot

Try playing only 10 minute quarters so you won't get the scores that high...
And do you have that "AI assist" or something like that on which makes the scores close in each game.
You can do the same mid-range stuff the CPU does too with a good shooter.
Check your settings...

Ok, this is absolutely pissing me off... I used to play wif Rockets but i figured to use a lesser team to try out. Started playing with cleveland, lowered to 10 min quarters. Played against Bucks, Redd and Mason shot like 80+% against me. Same problem again, their mid range jumpers. Din piss me off that badly cause i won that game eventually. Played Atlanta and same problem happened again. Lue, Childress, Josh Smith shot 80+% against me. I guess i can accept Redd and Mason, but Lue? Childress? Josh Smith!!?? Getting abit out of hand here... Best part, with 1.2 seconds left, I'm up by 2 points, Atlanta inbounded the ball in their own half, Lue put up a shot at his own free throw line, swished! buzzer beater in his own half that beat me. I tried looking for the Ai catch up option, I don't think it's in Live 05. I remember that option on live 04, but i cant find it on 05. I tried to do all the weird mid range shots that the CPU does on me, used Lebron cause the CPU uses it with Lebron too. Shot less than 50%. Would have been worse if i didn't drive to the basket afew times. Guess this is the last straw. Giving up playing live 05, gonna switch to Fifa 05 for the Career mode there. Guess i'll be checking in on the forum when Live 06 comes along, really do hope for realistic plays. Lastly, Andrew, i salute this site of yours, been getting stuff on your site since live 03. You rock dude!!!

I think he was missing the "CPU Assistance" because that's what it's really called. I know that can be frustrating, Shaq hit a buzzer beater 3 against me to win when I accidently had CPU Assistance on.

After playing fifa 05 for just a short while, i started to miss Live 05 already.. I used to play fifa more than live, but switched over to a live fan in recent years. Guess i'll try to tweak the settings abit to get the CPU to play more realistic. Don't get me wrong, i'm not having problems beating the CPU, just a gamer yearning for more realistic gameplay by the CPU. Cause it gets kinda boring when the CPU does all their "superman" kinda shots n sink it while all i do is drive to the basket in order to keep pace with the CPU (btw i play with keyboard so no freestyle stuff to keep it real). What i'd like to see is not that i make crazy shots like the CPU, is that the crazy shots do miss, just like if i attempt them i'd miss. For example, if my PF or Cs are near primary 1 area n go for the open jump shot instead of the dunk, they tend to miss alot, whereas the CPU with the SAME player that i used is able to make it with a hand in his face.
Fender, i have the CPU assistance off cause i thought it was an option that the CPU would help you shoot or pass or something...
And i was thinking about what andrew said regarding the harder settings part. I guess it's true, cause there are lots of ways that as a user i can abuse the CPU for their dumb mistakes. But it sucks if i'm trying to keep things realistic like purposely settling for jumpers instead of driving to the basket & missing them, but the CPU does unrealistic stuff. Kinda wish that the AI will be able to differentiate styles of play... ha ha ha, wishful thinking...
