Najira's Thread Round Up(Weekly umm maybe :S)

With Jae's weekly stuff in retirement ....and with me having loads of free time today I thought Id start some sorta a weekly thread and see how long I can go(I know I know, this has Jae Weeky Thread Cheap Immitation written all over it).

I dont take into account newly made threads....even if the thread started of awhile back but still gets replies its eligible. But it has to have a reply made to it 7 days prior to today.

Anyhow Im gonna be rounding up a sorta weekly thread award system....ok lets begin.


ERUPTION THREAD OF THE WEEK
Hands down here....the Post a Pic thread went haywire with a rather unneccessary flame war(as always) between Mr.Jae, Agentdweaver, CoolMac and of course me. A few other people showed up and had their say but none of them was as well taken as Hotshot(aka The Bengali Tiger, because his posting is as rare as the animal). It was a shock that a poster who posts so rarely here came and gave his views on well lets say alot of things, but its all been resolved now so I wont go into details as it might lead to a resurrection.


SPAM THREAD/S OF THE WEEK
It was between Matija's "Is Anyone On This Forum" and CoolMac's and Dweaver's "the for ADULTS thread (minors still allowed)" and well I have to say its a tie.

Matija's thread was created as he was interested to know if their were fellow Croat's in this site, unfortunately that question was not answered till our beloved Andreas Dahl came along and gave a shortlist of known Croat's. As for the rest of the posts well it looks like Toni Kukoc Fever hit the NLSC for awhile as 4 people claimed to be him and a couple claimed to know him personally, I have no clue why anyone will want to be a Euro Role Player but hey its a weird world out there.

The best post and reply, well it has to be CoolMac's post of him being some itty bitty point percentage croation and then the ever lovable/hateable Mr.Jae pointed out what the rest of CoolMac is.

i'm 0.000000031% croatian.........

and 99.99999999969% idiot.

Ok well then lets get on to the Mac-Weaver combo, never have I come across a thread soulely made for the purpose of two members to post about so called "adult matters". Of course it was soon ended before it turned out into a flame fest(as we all know Mr.Mac and Mr.Dweaver are subject to plenty of flaming). Props to Jae for that, yes he did a good moderating job there(no Dweaver Im not Jae's dickrider).

okay heres our thread 20+ year olds......since we already posted too many adult oriented stuff in the other threads and lead them off topic. we can chit chat about anything realting to adulthood here

THE BUST/FLOP THREAD OF THE WEEK
Well Paradizecityz "Houston, Texas" Thread is definitely a candidate, specially considering the amount of replies(spam) the "Anyone On This Forum" recieved. Course its only a query thread therefore its not a true bust or flop.

Its a tough decision this week but Ill head to our brotherhood nearby(aka NBA Talk) and give this weeks crown to "Shaq vs. Kobe Round III". These two are the most talked about players on most basketball forums and in the NBA, so it was suprising it had just 38 replies specially considering the gigantic Laker fan population we have. Im not sure whether its sheer "Oh not again" or "Its all about Bron" to blame, but its this weeks Bust/Flop Thread of the week.


FUNNIEST THREAD TOPIC OF THE WEEK
Dogg's "Help me find one teletubbie's picture, please!" ......as scary as it is its just something so odd that I cant stop laughing when reading it. Dogg is indeed a very amusing character...but I never thought he loved shows made for Toddlers. I have a feeling he wanted to make a "I Love Teletubbies and Im Proud" thread but was worried abt the aftermath.

THE STEAL/SUPRISING THREAD OF THE WEEK
Its another tie, this time its between Rockwell's "Best STAR-surname for a player. Vote!" and Indypacers "Drilling in Alaska OK'd by senate".

Rockwell's thread is clearly disturbing but it also is interesting to reply to at the same time, why? well maybe because some of us here are desperate to be known as the person who named the next big thing in basketball(even though I doubt that kid will be great). But Rockwell's friendliness and no-hater attitude has spurred on more posters to come in and shoutout names.

Well their was nothing in the NBA talk section that could be called a suprise thread but well back in GT our Pacer Fan/Bush Hater made a thread about the senate he loves so much he actually told the community he likes Filip's guns and would like to use them to Kill President Bush. Anyway Its quite suprising that it went to 2 pages and well is still getting posts just like Rockwell's thread. This thread illustrates the unusual nature of the NLSC community and showed how unpredictable certain topics interest level to the members maybe. Imo this thread is almost similar to that of I Hate Bill Walton(where the hell is he?) "Bush's Ass Kiss Gone thread" and most of my threads(as Jackal has been pointing out )
Ok ok lets move onto our final award.

THE THREAD OF THE WEEK
Its an old thread and has been there for awhile but it doesnt mean that it cant be regarded as a candidate for these awards. But IMO the thread of the week has to be the "Rap/RnB Thread". Its prolly the most solid long running thread in GT. The rap community gets along very well and I think the guys that post in there(Skiptomylou, Pikss, Colin and even Matt)are good examples on how a forum can be when everyone is ready to have creative discussions. On a side note The Knicks Thread too is another solid long runner(well maybe cause Knicks fans are better than other fans *cough*Lakers*cough*) and even the Bulls thread bka "Hey! Look who's winning again". .

Yeh I know ......but thats what "deserved" to win the certain "award"...dont worry CoolMac and Dweaver....I honestly am not tryin to pick on u guys here(I told u im tired of flaming).....but after some searching(I searched quite alot).....your stuff was the ideal candidates/winners.....no one's safe....I assure u that.

Well, surprisingly, it was a fun read. It's more humorous than pun oriented, so I like it. Nice job writing it all up in a non-insulting matter. I actually enjoyed reading it

No, I'm not trying to say that you should start being more like EG. I actually wanted to write that in the first post but I left that out for some reason. I agree that you do have things covered when it comes to moving/locking threads and the like but being a moderator, you're supposed to step in and stop things from going overboard. What you did in the other thread was the exact opposite of that. You're the one who started it with the homosexual comment when the least you could have done was just let the dweaver and coolmac just carry on with their conversation. To me, that seemed like you were starting a flame war whether you meant to do it or not. I do think that you are one of the more active mods around but you just don't seem to know when you should shut up and let people talk. The fact that you don't like either dweaver or coolmac is apparent from your posts but before you go out and make posts like the the one you made in this thread, think about your position on this forum. If it's ok for a moderator to make posts of that nature then you can't expect the normal posters to do any better. It just affects the whole forum. I wouldn't have cared shit if you were just another poster but that moderator tag on you makes a whole lot of difference.

I'd say the same about you if you posted more than once a month.

I do have a life outside of the internet. I try to check back and see what's happening on the forums every now and then but I've been really busy with exams lately. I never used to post a lot before either, I know, but that's just because sometimes I'm just a little too lazy to read through everything that people posted before posting a response, so I just don't bother.
And just so you know, I could care less about "winning the argument" because for one I think it's retarded to argue with someone who you don't even know. I just want to get my point across, that's it.
To Naomi's reply, no I'm not trying to get anyone's attention here. If that is what I wanted to do, I'd do something along the lines of what Najira does and make a 100 posts a day. All I did was express my concerns on certain things and Jae took it as a "tirade" of some sort. Just to pitch in my two cents: it's not necessary to post a lot to have an opinion and to frequent the board. I often read the threads on the board but feel I have nothing to add therefore I do not post. Don't judge people by their post count because more often than not, it'll be an incorrect view on that person.

I might do a "special edition" for my 4000th post and maybe I'll start doing the Weekly Stuff threads again after the NLSC Reality Show is over, but until then I'm sure Najira will do a good job.

I like the steal/suprising thread of the week as I hadn't read the alaska one until you mentioned it here because of it's boring name....

yeh I dont want to copy and paste Jae's stuff(even though the basic idea is taken from him)....

Ill add 2 or 3 more features for next week.......I dunno I might expand and give a dynasty power rankings......also stuff like Pic of the Week and do a three little pigs and the big bad wolf section(u'll see what it is next week).

Anyway yeh Ill think of some ideas.....n since this has recieved in an OK manner....Ill definitely do my best to make it more interesting and have a wider orientation of stuff for the next round up.

BTW, dont expect me to be as funny as Jae.....some ppl are born with the ability to make ppl laugh....whilst some get their cracks from retarded/bad jokes aka ME.
