changing someones mind on a subject isnt winning a debate. its making better arguments and not changing the subject as you enjoy doing.

We've talked about Drilling for awhile? You want to get back to it?
Here is my opinion:
If drilling Alaska saves me a fucking cent I am all for it.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:58 pm
actually there is no winner in a debate.......put that in mind guys......

anyways great debate you have here.....
Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:58 pm
and thats the point you have used over and over again.
if it turned out there was oil under times square, and central park, basically under the entire city of new york. would you support tearing up that city and tearing down buildings in order to get a small amount of oil?
if you say yes, you are just a dumbass for no reason.
if you say no, you are a true self centered capitalist.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:00 pm
He's not self centered, remember.
He's joining the army.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:04 pm
If I was self-centered why would I put my life on the line and become a solider?
And to answer your question, indypacers I would have to say no. You know why? Because tearing up an urban area where millions of people work, live and play wouldn't be wise. All that is up in alaska is animals and I don't like animals.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:09 pm
have you think about the future of your children or your grand children and the grandchildren's of your grandchildren's uncle's children.......
they wont have pets or animals anymore!!! if you drill in alaska......
what am i talking about? what kind of animals does live in alaska anyways.......
seriously what indy is trying to stress out is provisions for the future.......if i guess it right
Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:10 pm
It's not like they are going up there and destorying everything in site. They won't throw off the whole ecosystem. I don't see what the big deal is. Isn't the government suppose to make life better for it's people?

Riot wrote:And yes, I am self-centered and I am selfish. That's why I'm joining the miltary
Of course you are. Jona explained it well with the "bubble" theory, so go and make America proud!
Riot wrote:Isn't the government suppose to make life better for it's people?
lol, the government? The government just does everything that is more convenient for them, not necessarily make life better.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:56 pm
I know, most of the times they don't, but isn't that what the goverment is for? To help the people?
Mon Mar 21, 2005 2:50 pm
Just because that's what it's for, doesn't mean that's what it does.
Mon Mar 21, 2005 2:56 pm
They keep America safe, whether CNN says it or not.
Tue Mar 22, 2005 11:18 am
joining the military may not be a selfish act but there are plenty of selfish people in the military.
Tue Mar 22, 2005 11:21 am
LOL good one indy
first they started as patriotic men in tight gears........they end up with bulging stomachs and a loose gear full of greed.....and i'm not generalizing here

Careful what you wish for... How would the Nissan move then?
Wed Mar 23, 2005 10:48 am
by the time this world runs out of oil (probably 150 years or so) we hopefully will have developed a better, less harming alternative.
Wed Mar 23, 2005 1:41 pm
Well, some people think that isn't the case.
America is a highly industrial society and we rely on oil more than any other country. Now, in 50 years or so the world won't be "out" of oil but the demand will go up alot (they say oil prices could reach $4-5 in 2 years a gallon. For the average american that's over $4,000 in gas prices a year). Now, it doesn't take a 100% of the society to run out of oil for the society to crash...it only needs about 10-15%. You guys get what I'm saying? There is this website that explains it alot ebtter than me...lemme find it.
http://www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net/
Anyways, I think it's complete bullshit but it sort of backs up my earlier debate.

Well, good thing they're working on hybrids that will eventually pave the way for electric cars. We'd be seeing electric cars now if it wasn't for the Exxon and Shell snipers
Thu Mar 24, 2005 6:51 am
My dad has a hybrid.

Well, that website/idea is bullshit anyways. I don't buy it.
Hydrogen can be used if you turn it into a liquid. I think.

The only problem with hydrogen right now is that it's more expensive to convert into energy than the energy is worth. That's why it's not used much right now. Unless I'm confusing it and it doesn't work that way for cars... science can confuse me but I heard that somewhere.

I thought it was difficult to extract hydrogen and easy to convert to energy? - i.e. hydrogen bomb.

It could easily be that, I might have mixed it up.
