Cyberface problems

Postby VMS on Fri Mar 18, 2005 12:16 am

Well, I tried to make a cyberface, but for some reason, EAGE doesn't show the .fsh files. When I select them, no picture shows up. When I export them, uncompressed, and open the .fsh with FSHed, it says the file's not a valid .fsh file.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Vin.

fshx? I've been using FshEd.

Problem solved for viewing/editing/whatever with the .fsh's.

But...
How do I give a created player a cyberface?
How do you assign a different head mesh to a cyberface? I'm trying to give the player brian grant's head mesh.

And please don't link me to the 2004 tutorial. I know its similar, but similar doesn't translate well in to 'n00bish.'

1) You need to extract Brian Grant's files from NBA Live\sgsm\players. Extract all files named brgrant*.* from plyrface.viv, plyrgr*.viv, plyrlod*.viv. You will probably end up with 14 files (some players have 11 files or less) for Grant. Rename the files to your new player making sure it is unique, no other player can have the same ID name. EA uses the 2-5 naming convention. First two letters of first name and five letters for last name. Ex) Hank Aaron = haaaron.
2) You need to create a cyberface and save it to the two FSH files.
3) You need to create the player in the game.
4) You need to edit the appearance.dbf and players.dbf files. Download the Patrick Ewing cyberface by Kristo Vaher from this site and read the readme file. He explains what needs to be done.

Live '04 and '05 are different... to see fsh files of '05 use EAGE for extract files and FshX to see them.

Edit : my 700th post !! :D

Both FSH files. One is the face the other is a small version of the same file used for reflections.

Run-time error '52':
Bad number of file name

EDIT:

Solved that problem, forgot to open fshx before loading.

The problems aren't all solved yet though, stay tuned.

So mesh editing is not possible yet?

He's the only guy I found with a ponytail, unless you know of another guy.

EDIT: Do you have a messenger? This would be a hell of a lot easier through direct communication. Although I can't pay you for your services, I can give you other crap. :D

Ok, got everything almost figured out. I have the cyberface, it works in the game. But...

Problem #1:
When I go to 'Create Player'>'Edit Player' (where you can change things on ALL the players) and I try to load the guy, the loading panel reaches full, and it stops. What's wrong?

Problem #2:
Since I used Brian Grant's head-mesh for a base, he has Brian Grant's Skintone. I have all the necessary .fsh files for him already imported (plyrlod*'s, and plyrgr*'s) except for the plyrtat.fsh, because I don't want him to have tattoos just yet. I used Brian Cardinal's .fsh's for the gear and lod's, because he has the right skintone. In players.dbf, I didn't find a skintone region, unlike '04. How can I change the skintone?

Here are the changes I made in players.dbf in the save folder:

NICKNAMEID: "-1" ---> "69"
ISCREATED: "True" ---> "False"

That's all the changes I made.

(and this isn't triple-posting, I got my first response via PM'ing.

1) You need to create the new player in-game first. Give him the skin color, accessories, height, weight, build, etc. Create and copy the FSH and EBO files to the SGSM folder. Edit the appearance.dbf and players.dbf files. Change the IS CREATED to False, add the PLAYERPKG to players.dbf. Remember the PLAYERID. Open the appearance.dbf file. Searh for your PLAYERID. Change the APPEARID to -1, add the ID 7 (which is the same as PLAYERPKG). Start the game and load your roster.

2) The skintones are in the appearance.dbf folder. Look for COLOR. 0 = light skin, 4 = dark skin. This should be correct from when you created the player, it will be either 0 or 1. Changing NICKNAMEID is OK.

Using Grants EBO files will give you his head and hair shapes. Make sure Grant's and Cardinal's features (eyes, ears & nose) match up. Otherwise he might end up with four eyes or extra nostrils. To check this copy one face to a new image, copy the second face to a new layer, lower the opacity of the top layer until you can see thru it. Make sure everything lines up.
