Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Matthew, Andrew, I don't know if you guys have actually watched a P.T.I. episode but in the United States, there's a show before that called Around The Horn.
The show resolves around four journalists from four different time zones and a moderator. It starts off with two main topics in which each panelist gives their opinion on. The topics are usually answers to questions. The panelists are scored in how good their response is. On the show, they're given points as they talk but if we tried that, it might be a bit more difficult to do that here.
Then we go to a commercial.
The next is the "Buy Or Sell" round which involves three topics in which one statement is made, and the panelists need to say if it's true(Buy) or false(Sell) and then give a reason why. The answers are usually shorter in this round. Here's an example -- "Buy Or Sell: Lebron finishing his career better than Jordan." Once again, the panelists are given points off of their responses.
After the "Buy Or Sell" round, an elimination is made. The ax goes to the panelist with the fewest number of points. Then we go to another commercial.
Now down to three contestants, a big topic is given -- much like the first two. This should probably warrant the biggest response. Once again, panelists are scored. After that one topic, another elimination is made. Now we're down to two contestants.
Lastly, we have the "Showdown" between the final two panelists. It's a matter of debate. The question would be such as "Who is more important to their team: Shaquille O'Neal or Steve Nash?" The first panelist might choose Steve Nash, then give a reason why, and the next panelist will have to choose Shaq and give a reason why. Whoever comes up with the best debate is given a point. Then another question is given, this time, the person who went second goes first...First one to two points wins. They're usually allowed to make an off or on-topic statement after that.
So if you guys are interested, I'll be willing to collaborate on a method to do something like this. I think it would be really cool to do so.

Sounds complex... I know Matthew watches PTI, can't see why they wouldn't be interested though.

sounds like fun. might be a problem finding a time when everyone's on (and not inebriated). regardless, great idea. if you need a panelist, i'm available

We could give it a shot at least, providing we can all get online at the same time.

you have to lock the thread too. we can't risk poeple having to post irrellevant stuff to the debated articles

It would probably be posted on the main site as the other feature articles are.
I'm not sure if I'd be involved in this one, but I'd be happy to publish it if a few folks were interested in participating.

I'd participate but my NBA knowledge doesn't extend past slanderous comments about players families.

Id like to participate, but do you have to be an NLSC member to do so
Thu Mar 10, 2005 2:03 pm
Not necessarily, though the folks involved probably would become part of the feature writers portion of the team.
