The on-ball defense affects the frequency of bumping and bouncing off the defender. If you set it higher, you will get bumped more often.

which means, making it harder to post up?

Fri Feb 18, 2005 12:10 am

^^ means, its harder to drive to the basket..:)

If you want a more difficult post up game, try to raise the CPU Dunk/Layup Block slider. But be careful not to raise it too much, or the CPU will become a blocking machine.

I've set it to 30 at superstar level, and even with Dwight Howard it gets really difficult to drive to the basket. At 30 sometimes you have some spectacular blocks by the CPU, but on the other hand it will fight hard on every post up to stop your way to the basket.

Hope this helps!

correct. :!: the defenders seem to be right in your tracks and you get to bang them up. then your player gathers his dribbles backwards and lose his momentum to drive. sometimes the defenders will get in your face and stick close to you. setting this settings lower will make them stay a bit farther from their man to man and you can drive to the basket more.

imo the CPU steal rating is way too high and the Reach-In Foul rating is too low.. perhaps if it seemed to differentiate between stripping the ball from dribbling opponents as opposed to opponents holding the ball it wouldnt be such an issue.. but as it is I offend find myself being stripped while in the tripple threat a fraction of a second after receiving the pass.. I'm playing a game atm and I'm only 5 mins in and I've already had the ball stolen 5 times.. 3 times while stationary and not dribbling.. this is a bit of a one off.. but in real life if you try to strip anyone who knows the first thing about protecting the ball you're just begging to get pinned for the reach in.. plz to raise reach-in rating to atleast 20

Got a question about the Charge/Block Foul Frequency. I used to think that if I raise this one (say 90), when the offense player drive to the hoop and create contact, it will be more likely to call a blocking foul on the deffense player instead of a charging foul on the offense player. Is that correct? Or it means if it's high, when there is contact, either the offense or the deffense player will get a foul more often but whether it's charge or block will depend on the suitation? Can anybody tell me? Thank you! :?

hi. i play 5 min quarters, superstar level.
i use default roster ratings with updated player nos. and positions and roster. i use the san antonio spurs. i use all default slider settings but i'm looking for a better substition slider setting.
i tried slider setting fatigue to 50. user substitution 50 and cpu substitution 50.

are these 3 settings all i can adjust for better substitution?

i also changing user substitution to 70 and 100 but i cant seem to get a good substitution pattern.

i want a slider settings to make substitutions better. i hate it when all starters are all given rest at the same time. this doesn't/rarely happen in real life. coaches leave at least a starter or 2 on the floor.

ex. this is what i want to happen: when nesterovic sits, horry replaces him to play with duncan on the floor. when duncan will go to the bench, nesterovic returns with nazr mohammed. in short one of the two starting big men (pf,c) is left on the floor. i think this is what they do in nba games i've watched. hope u can help me. tnx.

If you leave all the shooting percentages 50 for the CPU on superstar, they will never miss one shot and shoot about .500 fgs a game . To fix this is just change all the percentages including the adjust shot frequency and adjust shot percentage.

i have it at 97 and yea they do actually sub

This game is so F$%cked up. First the CPU shoots around 30% around 1st 2nd quarter. Once they reach 3rd Quarter they shoot 40 %.. and then at 4th Quarter they f&*cking shoot like 100%. They somehow shoot over Tim Duncan.. Shaq.. This gets freaking annoying. First i have such a nice lead, and they some how get 100 points in the 4th. How do i keep the CPU shooting normal, and not cutt down the lead by shooting 3 after 3 in the 4th? I always freak out when this happens

question. does player positions affect playing time? i mean when eg. jim jackson (player off the bench, sf/sg). if his primary position is sf, will he play more minutes at sf than at sg? if i make him a sg/sf, will he be used more as a sg? or both primary and secondary positions has equal bearing?

Does anybody have an answer for this question? thx

My understanding is that the contact will result in a foul more often, but the call will depend on the situation.

Thank you Andrew. Then what I used to think was wrong.

CPU seems to be unstoppable when backingdown. Players like O'Neal, Duncan or Yao get FG% about 80%-90% what sliders should I use to lower this?

Sun Mar 13, 2005 4:40 pm

The short range field goal slider, as well as the dunk and layup percentage sliders; those would be the sliders to adjust if you feel the CPU has an unfair advantage in the low post.

Sun Mar 13, 2005 8:40 pm

Yeah, but that's another problem. I have too high scores (nearly every time both teams above 100points - 12min quarters) because of too high FG% (both above or around 0.500). The problem is, that there is lot of shots and lay-ups with 2 or even 3 defender around bothering the shooter. Is there any slider that affects FG% with some defenders around? If I lower the shot% and lay-up% the players stop hitting open opportunities and lay-ups even if they are alone at the basket.
