Dynasty Stats Program

Postby Exube on Fri Feb 25, 2005 3:40 am

Hi !

Just a Question:
Is there any programm that parses the boxscore.txt files and is generating Stats like on nba.com?
If not: im working on it!

If there r any wishes for such a program, place it here.

Im currently designing it for parsing all of the boxscore files of a season, giving you individual player higscores, game-by-game stats, teamstandings, higscores and so on.
Will be a java-programm, where u can export the data as html or xml+xsl i think, adding game-picture or descriptions and maybe the generation gamedescriptions by the given stats (thats a future feature ;))

Think a final version will be on in 1 month.

Good idea!

But please note the boxscores can be saved (boxscorexxx.txt) in dynasty mode ONLY WHEN MORE THAN ONE GAME HAS BEEN PLAYED THIS DAY; I mean if your game is the only played that day, you won't be able to save the boxscores.

So better work with plyrstats files (those saved in the post-game screen).

Ya, i know.
But i testet it out with a 82 games nba schedule, an there r always at least 2 games at 1 day (except allstar game).

There r other known problems doing it with the boxscores (like duplicate Player Names) but im able to parse all games of the season.

Working with the plystats only gives u the data from your team ... but im going to implement that also because theres no other way to get the stats of the playoffs.

At the first version it will support boxscores only i think.
After that i'll take a closer look at the database. Perhaps theres a way to extract the Stats of the last games (somehow they have to generate the boxscore-files from that).

So then, keep playing and saving stats ;)
