Computer-generated Rookies

In franchise mode, has anyone come across a true game-changing, superstar player via the draft (not counting any players you might have created and added to the data-base).

I mean a franchise, top-tier sort of player created by the computer -- regardless his position -- that you, or another league squad, drafted in the offseason.

Please describe the player in specific fashion . . . and how many years into your "franchise" did this player become available via the draft? I'm looking for stories from Live 2000, but feel free to share tales from later editions of Live. Thanks.

you still play 2000?man why didn't you say so in the first place?
i have a couple of players there that came up into the 90's in overall rating....and to my suprised both were SF. but that was when i was active playing that game a couple of years back....it happened in the 8th season of the franchise

2000 and none other. The cpu seems to have a knack for creating draft eligible small forwards . . . often to the mutual exclusion of players at any other position. Decent centers & point guards are especially rare. "Good" centers and point guards seem nonexistent. I'm almost scared to see my current franchise in its eighth season

Are the cpu rookies better (and more balanced position-by-position) in the later editions of Live?

In Live 2004 the computer generates good players at every position (including center), but the problem is that they are way too many good SG generated, and too few C and PF, so many teams are lacking in these spots.

yep i find it very rare for a generated center to be at above the rating of 82. but the ratings in live 2000 is not what generates wins. actually i have a roster of 7 players with ratings of mid 70's and win champoinships. its how you established your plays and defense.

alex is right EA seem to be bias for the guards and SF. they dont generate good centers that much.

mr.alex have you started playing live 2005 yet? pls post if you have done so already and what you think of the game

So Alex, did/have you come across any great (highly rated) cpu-generated players in 2000, regardless their position. Please describe. I just want to know if I should be looking forward to an All-Star game full of 76s & 75s by 2011, after all the real players retire and/or their skills peter, and the cpu-players become the league's "stars." Hoping the cpu generates some legitimate top tier ballers at some point, at some position.

Err, I haven't simulated a franchise that far for a while now; but as far as I can remember, the CPU generates a bunch of rookies rated 90?

Hmmmm . . . I don't think I've ever simmed a Live 2000 franchise beyond the 2005-06 season; but I've simmed/played many through three, four, five, or six seasons -- I've never come across a cpu-generated player rated that high. I'll keep the forum posted as I proceed though. Approaching the end of the playoffs in season #2. Conference Finals: Lakers vs. Spurs/Hornets vs. Bucks.

Yes. I always play the franchise mode until the 25th year. I've written down the name and position of legend players who impressed me until retirement.

I am away from home now and I can't check it out but two players in the game are still inscribed in me.

One is PF, Derek Mourning and the other is C, Bobby Justice. I don't remember the exact stats in their peak but Derek played like Shawn Kemp (in Seatle, not in Cleveland or Portland). Bobby established justice on the court.

Bobby was very raw in the post raising my eyebrows by missing easy layups. But he had a strong body with good potential. As time went on, he continued to grow his skills and finally became a terrific blocker and inside scorer. I loved him so much that I used his name in the other game, Diablo2 (barbarian).

Both of them were drafted by me and ended their careers in the team. I almost always get the last pick, which means they were the last picks in the first rounds. So you have better chances of landing a better player if you have higher pick. (I was never able to get a right to higher picks and I don't know much about it yet.)

I usually skip all-star games but don't worry. There are many 80ers and some 90ers in the 2020s too.

Again. Don't worry. At every position, you can find excellent players though you have to pay the price. It is true that balancing the position gets more difficult later on. Therefore, you start as an NBA GM but you have to adjust yourself to be an NBDL coach later. Adjust your play to the players you've got when getting the perfect player is hard or just bothersome.

I sometimes start the season like SG, SG, SF, PF, PF if I can't get the right combination. I tried PG, SG, PF, PF, C too.

True, but play to your teams identity to establish some kind of style of play

started a team of SG, SG, SF, SF, PF recently,

used to have a SG, SG, PF PF PF team

but all my PF's had high speed, and field goals, and high defense and rebound.
my SG was the best perimeter defender, having 2.5+ steal seasons for more than a decade.

i obviously used the best dribbling PF at SF
but all of my players had really high OFFENSIVE AWARENESS (my PF who Played Center, Lexie Roberts had about 8assists per game at one point in his career (about his 11th year))

but earlier on my teams used a halfcourt offense more like with emphasis on defense and fastbreaks were really orchestrated things
