What do you play on?

-Supertstar

-All-Star

-Starter

-Rookie

This can directly affect what you are complaining about.

Yea, I got the same thing, and I suppose the best way is to just take control of that player and play defence yourself...

Is Superstar, it's more difficult than Rookie, when they're jumping all over the place blocking all kind of shots. Like Dahl said, you have to take the players control to block whta you want.

Throughout the series, your CPU teammates have been less helpful defensively on the highest difficulty setting (especially since Superstar was added).

On superstar they don't do anything, if you let them play D then when the cpu shoots they won't jump, I guess it's to take away from always playing cpu D. Which is why I guess leagues like to use superstar.

That's because on the harder difficulties they have to hit a certain amount of shots to keep it interesting.

the most annoying thing is when you have a loose ball and you've got 3 of your own defenders standing around the ball like vertical coma patients and then some cpu player 5 metres away starts the loose ball gather animation and picks it up before you can select the closest defender and move one step forward to pick it up..

yeah and with contesting the cpu shot attempts having virtually no effect I hate it when the commentary rubs it in your face as if you didnt just do everything humanly possible to stop the shot attempt..

the sooner it's 10 human players on court the better

Trying not to sound boring here, it's about percentages (keeping it close). The CPU has to make a certain percent of its shots to make the game close. That means that a certain amount of the CPU's shots are going to go in no matter if 5 Yao's were standing in his face. The only way to make him miss would be to block it. At least that's how I interpret it.

Yeah I hate that. They are so slow to react to the ball. you know last I pressed the dunk button and I sware my man when after the loose ball.

I figured out the secret to fix the CPU not contesting any shots. You have to Player Lock on one of the players at the start of the game. That will fix the problem in Superstar mode.
