A sad day for sports (not just hockey fans)

An entire season lost becuase of business... I'm not even a hockey fan, and this makes the nba look better, but its a sad day for sports.. so many great athletes, so many enthusiastic fans, and no games..

Will the NHL ever recover?

In Canada, yes, in most American cities, not a chance.
When they eventually get a deal done and start playing again, within a year, 10 teams will be gone, and the talent level will rise and that will help the game. Half the teams now are useless, they are in terrible markets that have no interest in hockey whatsoever. I'm hoping they get it down to about 18-22 teams.

Then againn, chances are this could be happening to the NBA this time next year. I doubt they will lose a season, but I definitely think they will lose some games.

You would have thought the nba would have learnt its lesson about how important it is to not allow the lockout into the nba season... whether it happens or not is a completely different story.

I never really payed attention to hockey until the playoffs started, becuase they play until you get a result. Competition is the key to any sports league, and maybe you're right about the league and contraction... If they dont get it started by the begining of next season though, this could turn even uglier.

Thank god it's finally gone. I'm soooo sick of hearing about how Bettman wants this, and the players want this. This takes up valuable time where they could be showing something that is actually news, not just a repeat of what they said 3 months ago.
