TORONTO 94, MIAMI 73
RAPS COOL DOWN HEAT

MIAMI, Dec. 1 The Toronto Raptors pulled away from the Heat in the third quarter en route to a 94-73 rout of Miami. Behind 20 points from former-Heat Rafer Alston and Chris Bosh’s 16 and 8 the Raptors were able to stop the Heat.

“I’m not taking anything from them, they are playing great basketball but we beat ourselves tonight committing turnovers and just not playing smart basketball,” said Heat coach Stan Van Gundy.

The Heat wasted a great performance by Dwyane Wade who continues to impress with his first career triple-double (20-10-10). Miami also got 18 from Shaq who also grabbed 12 rebounds.

The seemingly inconsistent Heat will face New Orleans on Dec. 3

MIAMI 98, NEW ORLEANS 89
HEAT GET BACK ON TRACK

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 3 The Miami Heat improved to 11-7 with their victory over the New Orleans Hornets who were without star Baron Davis who is on the injured list.

The Heat got 26 a piece from Wade and O’Neal and back-up center Michael Doleac scored 13 points in 13 minutes doing a great job while Shaq rested.

Rookie J.R. Smith who scored 19 led New Orleans and starting in place of Davis, Junior Harrington score 14.

Miami has struggled to find a groove and have been inconsistent. They will try to improve their record against the Milwaukee Bucks Dec.6

Rising Suns Eclipse Heat
Shawn Marion leads Phoenix Past Miami

The Miami Heat fought hard and after trailing for most of the game got within one with 8:31 remaining, 71-70. And then the Matrix went wild. Shawn Marion went on an aerial assault in which he took a steal the other way for a one-hand slam. He then finished a fast-break alley from Nash and on then went coast-to-coast taking a steal all the way for a crazy two-hand dunk that had everyone talking. Even the Heat players couldn’t help themselves. Said Wade: That was an incredible dunk, I didn’t know Shawn could get that high. He really took over in the fourth when we were getting close”. Marion's fourth quarter explosion helped Phoenix improve to 11-4 with the 94-86 win and finished with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Steve Nash recorded another double-digit assist game dishing out 10 and scoring 21.

Image
Marion flies in for two of his 26

For Miami Dwyane Wade had a nice night despite the loss. He scored 21 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and had 3 steals and 3 blocks. Dwyane has been showing great improvement in his defense and he is really putting the effort into getting better and become a great defensive player,” said Van Gundy. Shaq contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds and Damon Jones came close to his first career triple double with 12points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. The loss drops Miami to 12-9 and will face the Sixers on Dec.13.

good thing u didnt lose to the bucks because that wouldve been a heartbreaker. you almost beat the suns, only lost by 8 but marion was a little too much for you  this is a solid dynasty. keep up the good work, and try to post the main player stats of each game since you cant take pics of box scores. your players stats are also very realistic. its probably people that would like this dynasty, but its hard for people to visit the live 04 dynasty forum when its so many live 05 forums. ill try to keep in touch with this one though because i loved my grizz dynasty for 04

Dwyane steals the show in the first Kobe-Shaq showdown
KOBE-SHAQ I

Miami, FL (JAN 16)-In his first game against the Lakers -- who he helped lead to three NBA titles and last season's Finals -- since being traded in the offseason all eyes were on Shaquille O'Neal on Friday. But it was his new sidekick who stole the show. Dwyane Wade finished with 31 points and 11 assists and recordeda career-high 7 steals to lead Miami to the victory over the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, 136-131.

O'Neal, who asked for a trade after he felt Bryant forced coach Phil Jackson's departure after losing to the Detroit Pistons in the Finals, said in the buildup to the game that he was "a brick wall" and Bryant "a Corvette," and that everybody knows what happens when a Corvette collides with a brick wall.

During the game Bryant wasn’t shy about driving but couldn’t get anything with Shaq in the middle so he settled for the outside shot on his way to 50 points.

"I know there is a lot to talk about, the brick wall and all of that," Bryant said. "But I think that was just to hype the game. Ultimately (Shaq) is just going to come out here and play good basketball and that is what he did. The fans were treated to a good ballgame."

"I wanted to come in and get my team a win," O'Neal said. "I wasn't worried about doing anything crazy or out of my team's character. I would rather get a win every time."

O’Neal finished with 30 of his own and grabbed 20 rebounds.
But in a high paced game Shaq was wearing down late and the Heat looked to Wade to carry them.

"Shaq said to me to just go ahead and get this one for him," Wade said of O'Neal's fatigue. "And I said, 'I got you,' we've all got each other's back. I just tried to be aggressive and make good passes and just try to make plays."

This was a high scoring affair but Miami managed to get the stops late in the game to seal the victory.

"We dug in defensively and got some stops," Wade said. "We constantly talked about making them take tough shots because they were shooting the ball unbelievable. At the end we had to make them take tough shots, and I think we did a good job of that."

Kobe Bryant stayed optimistic after the loss.

"It was disappointing but it is a good learning experience for us," Bryant said. "We have been in so many of these games, about three or four of them against the top teams in the league, but have not been able to close them down. The more the season goes on, in January and February, you are going to see us winning these games. We are close."

Kobe wasnt shy about taking it on Shaq. Bryant finished with 50 in the loss.

HEAT NOTEBOOK
MIAMI ADDS WOODS, RELEASE BEASLEY

MIAMI, Jan. 19 – The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed free agent forward Qyntel Woods, waived forward Jerome Beasley and placed Wesley Person on the injured list.

Woods, in his third NBA season, has averaged 3.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.8 minutes per game with the Portland Trail Blazers. In 62 games (eight starts) with the Trail Blazers last season, he averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.9 minutes per game. He was waived by the Trail Blazers without playing a game this season.

A 6’8”, 221-pound forward, Woods was drafted by the Trail Blazers with the 21st pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. Prior to that, he spent two years at Moberly Arena Junior College in Missouri before transferring to Northeast Mississippi Community College where he averaged 32.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 23 games.

On October 29, 2004, Woods was suspended without pay for five games for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program. Woods’ suspension will begin with the first game he is eligible to play; Feb.1's contest versus the Minesota Timberwolves.

Beasley was selected by the HEAT with the 33rd pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. He was unable to find any minutes behind the deep rotation of big men which includes Shaq, Doleac, Allen, Laettner and Haslem.

Said HEAT president about the transactions: We've been looking for a forward to add to our rotaton especially after Shandon's injury but we were finally able to aquire Qyntel who we feel could do something for our team and unfortunately we had to part with Jerome because we had a full roster. But thats how the business is and we are just excited to improve our roster with an athlete like Qyntel"
