Low Post Master

Postby sventhedog on Thu Feb 10, 2005 5:38 am

hi. i play nba live 2005 in both pc and ps2. i use san antonio spurs tim duncan. i use off ball to go to the left side of the court (somewhere near the end of the free throw line) with the angle to a bankshot. tim duncan loves this spot of the floor. then i isolate so i could start making a move:

- shotfake then 1 dribble then bankshot.

- shotfake then drive for a dunk.

- fake right analog stick right. go left then elevate for a one hand shot. i love this move but cpu blocks this shot most of the time.

- i backdown with ball in left hand, go the other way, then fade away.

those are some of my moves.

i score 30 pts in 5 min quarters superstar. auto subs on. tim duncan playing 20 mins or less. is that good? or just average?

are you a master of the low post? can you score well with a big man? what's your low post technique?

one good way to be a low post master is by watching shaq's moves.he will back you down then hit you with a shoulder then dunk it.fake both ways about 6 feet from the basket then push square on ps2 and your player will perform his power move.

If you truly are the "low-post master" as you claim to be... You just don't take the best low-post player and do your thing with him. Take like Dan Gadzuric or someone with equal talent for the offensive game and rule with him. Then you can call yourself "master"... Anyone can score easily with Tim Duncan, KG, Webber, JO, Shaq etc... Try to do it with a slow and offensively challenged center, than you really see how much skill you have rather than how much skill does Timmy D have...

It's sometimes pretty hard to score with a big guy that has no skill... The CPU does a good job at defending the post... With Tim Duncan you should be able to score next to at will...

True

Im playing with Dallas and I like to score some what with Erick Dampier on the low post not hig post. One move that I have is that after backingup I hit the Prohop button for the dble fake but i hit the dunk button before the animation ends and 80% of the time the defender jumps as to block a jump shooter and I hit an easy layup.

I also work the higpost with DW. Thes are my favorite moves.

1. Triple threat to the left than go right and fadeaway jumper

2. Shoot a fadeaway jumper imidiatly after receiving the pass.

3. Triple threat to the right and release before the animation ends for a free lane to the the basket and if confronted by another player pass for and open Three or jumpshot

I have DW 2nd to KG in the MVP Run with these stats

ppg 27.9, rpg 11.9, apg 4.2, spg 2.0, bpg 2.1

I play 8 min quarters at superstar. I play him like 24 mins

Well I play with the Grizzlies with 6 min on All-Star. I used a modified version of PAred's Sliders. Gasol scores about 20 points per game sometimes 25. I usually make by subs at the half-way point in the quarter. Sometimes I leave he and Williams in a lil more than other people. A lot of times I probably start of fast with Gasol in the first quarter then he usually slows down as the game goes on. I might hit 3 or 4 shots in first quarter off the post up.

I don't think you should have to play with a weak post player. I mean if they were meant to be post players they'd have better ratings. I had actually found it hard to score inside with Gasol on superstar and all-star but now I'm getting a more realistic game out of him. Ofcourse I also raised the short range shooting rating by 5.

Though I do need to get better at playing in the post like I want. I need to get better at doing the exact post and move I want. I guess I could try posting up sometimes with Swift too, but I usually just play a different type of game when Gasol is out.

Low post master or not but superstar mode AI learns from its mistake and will double your big guy if he scores that much. guess your not playing in SUP mode. but i'll give you a slack. great job with your timmy d. got Yao to average 21pts per game and i use him to PF and mutombo the C. im no master but i win games and championships

I'm not a low post master (although I'd like to be), but I'll normally either play with a team with a good post player (which will obviously give you points), or just try to get a decent center who can score on mismatches/transition/doubles. For the most part I like to use Eddy Curry, because his strength basically makes him unstoppable on backdowns.

Triple threat is when you have the ball in half court offense. You shoot, pass, drive. It's when you haven't started dribbling yet.

tnx. didnt know you call that triple threat. i call it "just standing w/ the ball."

nway.
off-ball switch.

i use spurs. parker has the ball. i use off-ball switch to duncan to go to low post. duncan has blue circle. i press pass. duncan gets the ball and the blue circle remains on him.

how come this happens sometimes:

i use spurs. parker has the ball. i use off-ball switch to duncan to go to low post. i press pass. duncan gets the ball but the blue circle moves to nesterovic. is that a bug? or you can really do it? how do u do it?

do you guys use the quick release at the low post? or u just shoot as if you were shooting a 18,20 ft jumper/threepointer?

I'm playing a full season with Orlando, and I mak a killing with Dwight Howard in the post. I usually get someone like Stevie Franchise to dump the ball inside, and then it's just a matter of a shot fake-spin-then drive for the dunk.

Averaging 44ppg on a 65% clip with him. Could score more but I stop when I et to 50, although I got 104 in a game once.

(hardest level btw, and it was a close game)

My best lo-poster is Carlos Boozer. He's so strong and he is good at putting in the adjusted shots and free throws.

Nikoloz Tskitishvili is one of my favorite players to use in the post. He has a pretty good FG rating, as well as good quickness.

A rookie Karl Malone CAP is also pretty fun to play with. The strength and quickness of the mailman makes it fairly easy. Same with Amare. Quickness is the biggest tool to me when it comes to Post Playing.
