Online Gameplay: Rant about Abusers

After playing a series of online games via "EA Sports Online", I asked myself how the hell could I let myself waste so much time. Playing online is fun, I won't deny it. It's nice to ALWAYS have someone to play other than the computer. But now I'm sorta leaning into the other direction.

As much as I'd like to use realistic sliders, I force myself to conform to the ways of the default gameplay settings because not all of them can be changed for online games.

I want for this thread to be a gathering for all those online gamers out there who actually "appreciate" the game of basketball. I'm sick of having to play against people who think basketball is a simple game of racing down the court and putting the ball in the basket. In a game, it's easy to do, and doing it wins games much easier. But I refuse to play any basketball game this way.

Of the 20 some games I've played online... NONE of my opponents went about the game in a strategic way. They complained about my game being too slow, and once they had control, they jacked the speed back to 50, and sometimes even higher. But why? Why don't they see that basketball isn't suppose to be such a fast-paced game (in terms of physical movement, I mean)

20-30 players, all of who used turbo the whole way down the court, periodically pushing up on the freestyle buttom to spin their way to the whole, and finally press square to either dunk on me, or draw a foul because of a collision that wasn't even mid-air (Thanks for including the great defense, EA. Putting your hands straight up really works great... If you want your big men to get fouled out before halftime)

What happend to swinging the ball to find an open man. What happend to looking inside and doing some fakes with your big man and shooting jump hooks. What happend to pick and rolls? It seems to me that very few of us want to use these things to get enjoyment out of the game, and it's really p***ing me off.

Am I the only one suffering from this problem? Or are there others out there dealing with similar issues? If so, then we should keep online gaming between ourselves. There's already and online gaming thread, but I want for this to be for a select few gamers.

For those in favor of this idea, post your opinions with perhaps your preferred online game settings. I'm sure we can make some kind of compromise.

Yup, some run with turbo and jack up 3s or dunk.

And the game speed is way too high. When I play with my dynasty, it's at a good normal speed, but then when I play online I'm shocked into having to play a much faster game than I'm used to.

It's like playing the Phoenix Suns on speed.

Exactly. It's aggrivating. That's why I'm attempting to get all of those who concur to exchange SN's and maybe get a little online league/playoff going.

Why do you think im undefeated, Its somthing called Good Defense/Good Midrange
The highest amount of 3's i have shot in a game was 8, Highest amount of FG's was 78. Avg Team FG% 75%. You do the math.
People dont understand the values for taking smart shots so im going to explain it to all of those who dont understand.

The Value of the Midrange Shot:
We will use Steve Nash as an example, Steve Nash is by far one of the greatest at what he does but when it comes to 3's he nitpicks everything. He will hardly ever shoot with someone in his face becuase hes so small. I would say if Nash shot only 3 Pointers an entire game he would come out of it with about a 30% FG Rating. NOW if he shot only Midrange he would probably have about a 80% not to Mention the increased amount of fouls he would pull and the higher chance of making a 3 point play from the inside. Maybe im just old fashioned and i beleive that when a defender jumps you jump into him and shoot causing the foul and maybe a Old Fashioned 3 Point Play. What do i know maybe i should think like everyone else and just say, "Hey 3 is 1 more than 2, We should light em up from outside becuase its worth more yay!!!" WRONG!! When you gain the lead in a basketball its becuase you made Consistent and Consecutive shots and i doubt you can make all your three's even with Peja Stojakovic.

So on to the answer i get from all 3pt Lobbers. "Its too hard to shoot midrange" No it isnt people...... Try....

Anyways i think i just like to type too much but i do beleive people dont understand the complete concept of the game but thats why people like me are beating people like them day in and day out.

I know a lot of people that are undefeated for reasons other than what you've just stated. They tell me straight up. "Give me anyone that is fast and can dunk, and I got the game." And as much as I hate to admit it, they're right. Between either strategies, I'd much rather play and lose against you than the next player. This is my point.

And i would much rather lose to a person who accually owns me on both sides of the court with skill, Oh and by the way if someone gets someone like say....Wade and trys to fastbreak and dunk on me Rasheed will send the ball down his throat before Shaq can say FLASH!

100% of my wins have come without shooting more than 8 3's, My Defense is unstoppable and my Midrange is too.

You play on Xbox? If so then we can play, Im starting to use Rockets now and i had to accually go easy on a guy ranked 26-2 so i wouldnt beat him so bad in 1st so he wouldnt quit, Becuase people do that so you dont get the win if thats the same way it works on PC. I mean i lay the hurt down. When the second started i smoked him 63 to 19 and he quit in second, Dont know if i got win yet becuase he turned off his Xbox. BTW he was using Spurs.

You can do some braggin'. lol. How do you know you aren't just playing bums? I was talking about the PC. I don't know if there's much of a difference when it comes to online gameplay but... Heh, you should give the PC version a shot. Otherwise, your wins mean crap to me.

yall can change all those settings on PC and PS2? But yeah it is more fun to play against someone playing realistically win or lose, though it does feel good to be a no-skill cheeser when you don't stoop to thier level.

any1 who is 368-0 and claims to play a fair game is talking out of their ass. im sry but ive played ppl who play fair b4 and they defeinitely r the ppl who DONT hav the best records. the ppl who r 100-0 and better r the bullshiters who do wtv it takes to win. i GUARANTEE U that R3MO would start playin SOOO CHEAP if i was up by 5 wit 2 minutes left in teh game, its jus the way it is. on the other hand the clean players lose games cause they dont do wv it takes to win

P.S. shooting mid range shots isnt necessarily clean lol. any1 can take dirk and shoot the elbow jumper and hit it 95% of the time, thats jus as bad as knocking down 3s all day.

Never liked the mavs Shiva, And i HATE dirk hes anoying. And i assure you that i play clean and yes if you were up by 5 with 2 minutes left i would shootsome 3's becuase in the real NBA they would do that. I dont care if you dont beleive me i dont give 2 shits. Thats a matter of opinion and i can walk in my room and stare at the screen to asure my record. Not all people who play fair suck, you just havent met any good ones.

And to Chancellor, I do brag allot but i can do that. Its not my damn fault that every game i have ever played i was the best at it. When i accually used to play PC i was at the top of CAL League in a number of games.

People like this who love to bash on me for being good and say im just blowing out steam make me wanna just grab a really crappy team and go give myself loses so i can make my record look more normal so when people look at it they can say.... Hmmm his record looks about normal i bet he doesnt cheat at all and plays completly...Normal.

lol so u only play wit 2 teams. c theres the thing... in live 04 online pc i played wit any random team i was jus watchin on tv. y? its fun. i dont need to kno the players that well and do all that shit, cause i dont care that much about winnning

u must be an amateur cause u think that only dunk dunk dunk block block block 3 3 3 is cheese... there are much more subtle ways of playin cheap to get the WIN. plus... u say that u shoot midrange all day. so u take advantage of it is wat u mean. CLEAN PLAY IS WEN U DO A LIL BIT OF EVERYTHING. and u dont play in routine. sounds like u play in a very successful routine or u wouldnt be undefeated. either that or u hav no life

ok look man trust me... last year i was really good at live i was ranked top 10 in ea sports online. my record was 300-30 or somethin like that. but that was wen i THOUGHT i played clean... but i played so cheap. spun all day, dunk, dunk, 3, steal inbounds, etc. then i joined a league where cheese wasnt allowed, so i got into the habit of playing clean. then i realized the huge difference of what i THOUGHT was clean and wat i really was doin. its hard to admit that u dont play clean. now ive never played u, but from wat u say, u sound like the type of player i dont wanna play.

u see, shooting midrange shots doesnt make ppl clean players, cause u can jus spin down court and shoot it, its unstoppable. or freestyle like crazy b4 shooting it, its unstoppable. the real clean players r the ppl who take the realistic shots, which arent always the highest % shots to take. thats y those players lose more often

I shoot wide open shots.

If you think thats....cheese or whatever dairy product you like then you got problems.

If people cant play D on one of my guys thats their problems.

And if shooting a wide open 3 or midrange or taking it to the hole becuase im open makes me a cheater then i quit this game. lol

I disagree with your comment about Wade. It doesn't matter whose in there the cheesers can find a way to use Wade or Francis unrealistically. This is all EA's fault. Turn on fatiuge in ranked games and have a quick energy bar that goes down when you use turbo and freestyle.
