Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

Its sad that you can't find one decent game online with someone you don't know. Guys take serious advantage of the gameplay flaws and it really makes the game much harder. I'm not going to quit, but this is really annoying. Does anyone have any good tips when playing against the assholes?

I've learned to play games that has a low ping . Aleast below a 100 cuts down on the choppiness. Also play D-Fense

How can you tell someone's Ping? The FAQ told what the Ping was about, but never siad where it was.

I might have to do that.

It's hard to explain, people online do somthing different every day.
Mon Jan 31, 2005 7:58 am
do you mean like turn up the user sliders for everything?
Mon Jan 31, 2005 8:07 am
No, in ranked games, everything is preset. The biggest issue with ranked online games is that there's no fatigue, so guys would just make their players run around the court like crazy.

So beat them at their own game and make your players run around like crazy!

thats not as bad as the problems with the Madden online gaming
people would go for it on 4th down everytime, to stop it you could waste a time out then if you did that they would just punt it, if you didnt waste a timeout, they would easily get the 1st down.

Easier said than done.
I'm 4-7 right now.
Mon Jan 31, 2005 8:42 am
Yeah I haven't played online so I don't know what it's like.
Mon Jan 31, 2005 9:57 am
4-7 is nothing. In Live 04 I was at around 20-50 before I really started getting better, and my record by the end was im guessing 400-200 or something like that. I haven't played 05 much online though..
Mon Jan 31, 2005 10:22 am
Yeah, but what suprises me is that some guys are like 77-7 and it just seems impossible to dominate like that with all these cheese heads online. Well at least I won a sportsmanship award. (Not quitting for 10 games)
Mon Jan 31, 2005 11:44 am
Theres such an award?
Mon Jan 31, 2005 8:57 pm
I played fair in my games in 04 on the EA server, I just found people that were fun to play against rather then those losers that just bomb 3's, steal inbound passes everytime, press pause every 5 seconds, double team every play and so on....
I played it for a while online (maybe a month) and had a 2200 rating. What was your nic Alcoholic?

Yeah, there are a ton of awards you can win.

Yeah, that gets annoying. The best thing to do is to let the CPU inbound the ball IMO. All of these turnovers is the reason why I keep loosing, but every pass I make is being picked off.

I figured it out. Reach through teh computer and give them a nice, big cyberslap. Most of them are nerds. Maybe they'll start crying.

I'm wondering the same thing. They also need to give you the option of viewing someone's career and info any time until the game starts.

I've tried it before. I can't. It's just not my style. I've had the same problem in Madden. They're so used to cheesing cause that's how they play. They play the game and practie looking for gameplay flaws and glitches. If thats not your style of play it will be hard to do if you're used to playing realistically.

The do all kinds of stuff. They always play with the same few teams that have certain players that make it easier to cheese. Then they probably do a lot of spinning, running in, throwing up shots, and get shot foul or both. They also overuse turbo. All they do up court or in half-court is run around using turbo all day. They just run around until AI stops playing defense. They know the game is not setup right online: its on default slider, game speed is too high, there is no fatigue, there is no fatigue penalty or overusing turbo and freestyle, and the turbo doesn't seem to lessen at higher difficulty settings. They know the game is flawed. They know the game either has a glitch or is setup to make it a transition game and hard to play defense except for the fake stealing and blocks, and they take advantage of it. Also some of them have figured out some 3-pointer glitch that lets you shoot at too high a percentage with 3 guys all over you. It probably relates to the other problems with AI defense.

Actually they have fairplay on MAdden now. They need to add the same thing to Madden offline and NBA Live online. They could limit inbound stealing(that is nother thing I forgot to just mention). They could also have the stamina bar that's like a temporary stamina that quickly goes up and down during the game when you move like in ESPN and it should have effect on fatigue later in game. There should be a penalty for excessive turbo and freestyle. You get fatigue faster and heal slower the more you use turbo and freestyle when the stamina bar is low just like some boxing games have a power bar(like fighting games) and a stamina bar that will make the power bar go do faster when its low.

Someone mention Madden. I actually prefer to play Madden online instead of offline with the new fairplay settings. I see they limit how much people and button toggle. I hate playing people offline who constantly press audible and hot route buttons and make it hard for your guys to get set and make adjustment on defense. Another thing I would like to see limited next year is how much you can no huddle. Maybe limit to twice(two series) near the beginning of quarters and late in halfs. Any other problem is problems built into Madden. It's just like Live. I think they purposely try to make it so it will be hard not to play a "exciting" game. Why else will they make it hard to run against someone playing with Colts and in Quarter defense 90% of the time. I play someone like that and I couldn't get anything going first time we played. The 2nd time we played luckily I was able to beat him with a good running game. But it was more of a struggle than it should have been considering the team and system he was running. I should have broken more big runs than I did.
As for playing fair players online, I don't care about record. So, if anyone out there plays on X-Box and would be willing to play some unranked games with fatigue let me know.
Another thing I forgot to mention is they miss free throws a certain way on purpose to get offensive rebound.
Tue Feb 01, 2005 12:46 pm
I'm really close to throwing in the towl. I lost about 10 straight games and almost everyone I played against had the Mavs or the Kings. I wish EA would tighten up their gameplay because their online features are really good.

So, you didn't run across people playing with the Suns too. It's the same thing as playing with Dallas. They let too many people on the team block shots and steal and they have a lot of players you can just run around with and bust the AI.
Wed Feb 02, 2005 7:32 am
I played one guy who had the Suns, but he didn't do anything that would make me call him a cheeser or anything.
Wed Feb 02, 2005 2:51 pm
So bombing 3's isn't fair? It's a game, not real basketball. Play the game, not what you think it should be.
If the other guy is better at NBA Live, at hitting the 3's, at blocking, at getting up and down the court, then he's better than you and not an ahole.
