Sharpening is not bad. Oversharpening is. Im not really familiar with Photoshop on technical levels, since Im mainly the user of Paint Shop Pro, but PSP has regular sharpening and a stronger one. Sharpening should be added to a level where you can see slight "strength" on a smoothed surface. You can test it by pasting a smaller layer on top of a larger one, which is a crop of the one that is used below. Aka both look the same when together. Then using sharpening on the top layer, you should see the edges of the top layer visible. Good sharpening for a texture of that size is a level when you can barely notice the edges.

Skin is a strange thing, when too smooth, it looks plastic, if oversharpened it looks sick or just plain wrong. The right level is just above the plastic one. When working together with slight brightness/contrast, it can achieve good results.

Heres an example of a first-brushed then texture-detailed texture, left side is not sharpened and right side is. You cant tell the difference at first glance, but it can be felt that it is there, and it works better. Add just slight sharpening for your Wade and it looks close-perfect.

Hope this helps you :)

thanks man i really apreciate the kind words from such a harsh critic. ill sharpen it a little and show another preview.also i strongly erge you to use photoshop.there are so many better tools like masks featherin and a load of features.

i wanted to make dwyane because i enjoyed watcing him play college games live and on tv and he went to my future college

Fri Jan 28, 2005 9:39 am

Sorry to leave you the impression that Im a harsh critic. Just that when you work on this field, then people dont speak through the bushes nor do they frame the mirror to make the reflection look better.

And yes I know Photoshop enough to handle when the company uses it instead of PSP, but many smaller companies use PSP for its license is not as hard on the bill, but can produce great results still, since the tools that are required for brushing work exist well within both packages. One of the reasons why Im on PSP during my free time though is because this was my first :)

You mentioned your reasons why you made dwayne :) This is good, to be attached like that, gives motivation to pull the best out of yourself to get it as good as possible :)

It looks pretty good, but can you remove the shine or is it just the lighting? Not badd, but maybe some work on the cheeks. Is that the default headshape?

Sat Jan 29, 2005 10:27 am

yes its the original heanshape and i think the shine makes it look more realistic
