Wed Jan 26, 2005 10:05 pm

when i play the game with 1024x768x32 or 1280x1024x32 it freezes. but after a few seconds it will be ok again. but when it freezes on the third time, the game will completly crash and i will need to close the game using the "ctrl+alt+del" method

my video card is ati radeon 9550 but when i updated its driver, it became 9600. still the same happens, the game freezes

i already reinstalled the game but nothing changed. the game still freezes.

btw, there isnt any patches installed in my game except for the official ea nbalive05 patch.

can anyone help me.. i'd really appreciate it.

does it crash without the official latest patch?

ya, even w/o the official patch, it crashes.

btw, i played the game using the lowest resolution(640*480), the game still crashed.

hey i've got the same video card, and the same problem...

hmm, if its not the driver, it could be the video card...? has this always happened or it just started??? i had the ati 9600 and whenever i played live 05, it would reboot my computer, so i returned it and got different one

It looks like you've soft-modded your video card. What driver were you using? Some tweaked drivers have their defaults at overclocked settings. Crashes and freezes are most likely the result of a video card that cannot handle the heat of overclocking. Without proper cooling, your video card's gonna be a gonner soon. Another could be lack of power (from the PSU). IMO, it could be a hardware problem.

Check your "Advanced" Video Settings and set it at "No Overclocking."

mine isn't overclocked, however the problem still exists. yah maybe it's a hardware problem. u think if i changed my PSU, it would help?

Hmm, I cannot guarrantee you that, but it would bring you much closer to the culprit. Video cards tend to work improperly if the GPU is damaged due to heat, or the heatsink/fan is corroded. The memory chips embedded onto the PCB of your video card could also be damaged due to heat. This happens because the card is either old enough, or dusts have taken over your system, or the card has been overclocked without proper cooling. If you can, borrow a similar card or a different one, provided that is in good condition. Try it out on your system and see if the problem still exists.

this problem started when i first installed the Seraph's Shoe Patch(w/c was last december). then i decided to remove all the patches. but the problem still exists.

i also think it is a hardware problem.. i'll try to consult w/ my technician(the one who built my comp) about this

btw, what's overclocked?

Thu Jan 27, 2005 8:13 pm

overclocked is when your memory and core are running at higher speeds then stock defaults. with graph cards with decent cooling this gives a reasonable increase in performance. some custom drivers include these overclock settings. Official ATI drivers don't, so make sure you use these.

how do i set the overclocked thing?
a step by step maybe?

sorry, im such a n00b when it comes to technical things..
