Why would you think such a thing?

Atleast get the facts right before you start talking Don, it wasn't because of insulting PEOPLE, it was because of A person.

Anyways, this isn't my business so I'll just keep shut about it. But that mindset is absurd, no one changes the way they are because they've been banned. Besides, I didn't see him insulting anyone anywhere in this thread.

What's your point? 4 Hours is zilch? Shane, quit whining about how hectic your life is, quit throwing the fact you have car payments etc etc, that's all a crock of shit. You chose for that, don't act as if it makes you a better man than him because you have it so damn "tough".

My sister does the same exact things you do, she has her house, she has her car, she's a full time student till 6 p.m. and then goes to work at 7 everyday. You're not the only one in the world that has it so "tough".

Joshua, first of all I didnt have any intentions to insult someone. If I did I would just call him a asshole or something, like Jackal said I dont see how I insulted him.

Second, Ive mentiond a couple of times where I work...you can find it on the forums somewhere. About busting my ass off...no I dont do that (heck, who the hell does in todays society), my point was that while Im working I can do other stuff that I like, so I dont concider myself "lucky".

Pfff, four times a week...I work 40 hours a week and am in college full-time

Thats great...I think you deserve a standing ovation:

damn these evil ipods. look at the distress it causes people

i bought one of these damn things for my gf for xmas (i used the income i earned from my job  )

i'm not sure if you can put a price on being able to listen to your entire music collection wherever you go. but i will say that it does get pricey when you start to buy the accessories- car adaptor, that gadget that allows you to play it in your car, a car mount so the ipod doesn't fall off your dashboard, and that armband/carrying case. there are probably others but imo these are almost the bare necessities if want to take full advantage of having a mp3 player. it's a nice device to have though it does seem quite expensive for some music thing. maybe these guys at apple are pulling a quick one on us

i don't have any personal problem with that kobemvp guy and i don't want to start some flame war but i will say that he comes off as an awfully arrogant individual in a lot of his posts, including some here

hey i'm not an angel myself and i'll probably get the obligatory cool guy response from him, but for him to say he's not insulting anyone in this discussion is laughable

Weird, but OK...

Yeah, I chose to do that, but if him saying he works four days a week makes him special because he pays for stuff he wants, it doesn't. I do it, your sister does it, and many other people on this forum do it - and we have less time to use the things we buy. By the way, did I say I had it tough? No...I don't. Where did I say I have it better or worse than someone? Where was I whining? I was just saying him gloating - or whatever he was doing - about working 4 days a week isn't impressive and not really much of anything, especially if all you do is work and high school. I forgot to say I'd take a free ipod if I wasn't too lazy to go to the site...and I have the money for one. To not want free stuff is just stupid...

What's your deal, Jackal?

Did I say Im special? No I dont.

I was told Im "lucky" because I can afford a iPod if I want, so thats why I replied with the fact that I make my own money because I work 4 times a week. How can I be lucky then? Every loser around my age can get a job if he tried to get one or is willing to actually work.

Yes, I have nothing to do at all next to work and school

i'm with Jae.....i have no job and WORK is the forbidden word.....gotta get one in August though

hey Shane do you work to pay off your college tuition? Can you go to college if you can't pay? In Australia we got a thing called HECS, i got no idea what it stands for but basically the gov. pays for your tuition and when you get a full time job or earn in excess of 23k/yr you have to start paying it off.....that way heaps of ppl can go and study and not have to worry about finances in the immediate future....although paying your fees as you go along saves you about 30%

if i had to payoff as i went, last year i would have to earnt at least $7650 just to cover my courses and books....not to mention amenities fees, travel costs

Matt,

Yeah, we have financial aid. You take out low interest loans that don't have to be paid back until after you graduate (you don't have to make the first payment until six months after graduation). Right now, I'm about $45,000 in debt. I work for money for fun stuff..I use loan money to pay bills and what not. Tuition's about $7,000 a year, and then they figure in another $7,000 for expenses (housing, food, trasnportation, etc). I'd probably be able to make a decent dent in tuition if I wanted to, as I make right around $15,000 a year, but I'd rather not piss with that until after I graduate...when I'll be a teacher and make $16,000 a year. ;)

haha, cool....i'm only $8000 in debt but buy the time i get my degree i'll be $24,000 in debt (actually more since course costs inc. 25% this year) and then 2 yrs of post grad will probably set me back at least $10,000....oh well, it's all worth it in the end

do you plan on teaching at College at some point? I guess the pay'll be better and you won't have as many dumb-asses (although you'll have people that think they should be teaching not you)

Yeah, I think I'll only be able to handle ten years or so at the high school level. I'll be coaching, too, though. Odds are I'll probably be making close to six figures (I'll explain that in a second, so I might not leave if I'm making that much). I'll get my masters after a few years of teaching.

Anyway, I'm getting a minor in coaching which means I can be an assistant at the college level and a head coach at a large high school (think New York City size). A head coach at a bigger school will make more, plus throw on my teachers salary, then I'm going to be certified to teach intro psych classes. There will most likely be incentives in the coaching contract, and if I end up at a prep school like I want, I'll be able to make quite a bit of money teaching. Funny how things work out...

Is that american or AUS dollars?

I figured it was AUS dollars...that's a lot of cash, pry about equal to my debt.

So they just get away with the debt if they leave the country?

We have it pretty similiar to you guys. My sister has a debt of 18.000 Euro's at the moment, she's doing some kind of biochemical (read: something really boring with white coats). If in 15 years the debt isn't repaid, you don't have to pay it back. She's planning on leaving the country to but they will still keep deducting small amounts of cash (they'll see what is reasonable and deduct that from her salary) every month orso.

yeah, when you leave the country you get away with it but if you return you have to pay it off again....

what i dont get is the ppl that just dropout in the mdl of their studies, they incur huge debts and waste time.

Tell me about it, I have an older friend that did some computer programming study and just decided he got bored. Now he just sits around doing some other study.

(By us, if you leave the country, you have to pay even when you're in the other country. I think..)
