does primacy have any influence on the game when it comes to games controlled by humans? and is there a way to check the primacy rating for a player beside the player edit menu?

It does i think cause i was fooling around with the dbf files and i lowered each primacy by 10 or something and my players were just getting lazy and subbed.

One example I know of primacy (i think) is when its crunch time, whoever has the highest primacy rating is usually your go-to guy
For example Kobe would have a higher primacy rating that Brian Grant for obvious reasons
This is mostly cpu wise though

I also think that the value determines how important they are to their team on offense. The higher this rating, in general, the more the player will score. (Ex Kobe high 90's, Ben Wallace is much lower 20's-30's)

Primacy does indeed determine a player's pecking order in the offense. The guy with the highest rating is the go to guy. It's a rating mainly for the CPU. Players with high primacy ratings will generally score the most points against you when the CPU controls them; depending on how well you play them, of course.

can you chceck the priamcy rating in any other menu than palyer edit, 'cause I only came across this parameter in edit player menu and for my online games I'd like to modify my players primacy but it may be considered as cheating but for me it's jut how I think my players are important for my team

i always thought that primacy was a judge of the potential of your player to learn and develop. eg. player with high primacy will increase his overall rating by 4 at the end of a season, while a player with low primacy would not increase or decrease or increase their overall rating by 1 point.

i thought it was equal to "clutch"

similar idea to being the go to guy, but rather that they are GOOD in the clutch... like dwyane wade in the 4th quarter and crunchtime, rather then luke ridnour

No, that was a completely seperate rating. I guess it kind of serves as a clutch rating, but technically speaking it isn't.

No, that's the only place you can view the rating from within the game.

That's actually controlled by a hidden attribute. It used to be called CAREERPKG with alphabetical values; now it's the DESTINY attribute with numerical values. You cannot view this attribute from within the game.

To edit that you must be on the PC version, and do some DBF editing. In the players.dbf file, there is a colum called "Destiny".
"1" is the best showing major improvemet/potential.
"2" is second best, showing fair improvement
"3" shows little/no improvement; with margional improvement
"4" shows little/no improvement; with margional degredation
"5" Shows an aging player who is degrading
"6" Shows an aging player who is degrading a large amount

I've been asking this on other boards with no luck, so thought I'd try here. Seems like you guys are the most serious about realism, etc. I spent a week editing every player, including their primacy. I then loaded these rosters, and started a season. Not a franchise, no training camp, just a season. As soon as I did this, the players primacy was changed for every player. For example, I had Doug Christie's primacy set at 44, then traded him to Orlando, where it changed to 84, making him a gunner, which is highly unrealistic. Not only this, but every other players primacy was changed. Has anyone encountered this, or know of a solution? This is for the console version, but thought I'd try anyway. Thanks.

Just came into mind... I thought the primacy ratings didn't change with new players arriving. That's atleast something that did not happen in Live 2003... Where there were teams that had starting lineups averaging 105 points and 45 rebounds... And the bench players did their part too!

I have noticed that it probably does change in Live 2005 as LeBron went from 25ppg to 18ppg in a single off-season and his ratings improved... I got me some more offensive guns to the Cleveland team...

There's no way to change the primacy on the consoles... On the PC you could do it, but not with the console... Too bad... Christie is everything but a gunner on that team.

Thanks, Metsis. Nice to know I spent a week trying to get realism, only to see the system decides who gets the shots. It's hard to get realism when they have a career defensive role player like Christie averaging 26 a game. Unbelievable. Thanks for the reply.
