Off the ball

Postby Tim*The King*Duncan on Tue Dec 28, 2004 2:16 pm

Is it just me or is the off-the ball switch just way to cheap!

There is no way for the CPU to defend it. Just pass to your PF or C, off the ball switch with your best inside scoring Guard or forward, run around to the opposite side of the palyer with the ball, hit up on the left analog to cut toward the basket, pass back, then lay up. Gosh, With this my shooting percentage is always over 75%. OR the shaq move in the paint is virtually impossable for any CPU or palyer to block. If I use Miami, my shooting percentage is always over 80% no matter what team i'm up against in my season.

Change the CPU Interception slider to a higher setting and tell me if the computer has no way to defend it.

^^^^
LOL

It's true, i actually find it hard to use the off-ball feature. Two reasons;

1. Because the XBOX control is confusing compared to the GC i had last year.

3.It's harder to be as successful and execute than last year.

Unless I've misunderstood you; that would be what we in the real life call a pick-and-roll :wink:

not really the same

give and go... the ball changes hands twice...
the point guard gives it to another player cuts to the basket and gets it back...

pick and roll the ball changes hands once... or sometimes not at all...
the point guard dribbles around another player setting a pick to lose his defender and can decide to continue driving to the basket against the slower defender or passing to the other player creating a mismatch defensively against a smaller and weaker defender...

idea of a give and go is the mobility and speed of moving with out the ball and receiving the ball in a better position with leading passes

idea of a pick and roll is to create a defensive mismatch or losing the defender off a screen

Changed the sliders to max, I don't get why your making me change an interception slider when there's no one fronting my post man? I pass it to the post man, use him as a screen, get under the basket (my defender is on the otherside of my post man) then pass back, no ones around.... I play on superstar, using edited sliders, all almost maxed out! now what sliders can i change? I don't get all this talk with sliders this and sliders that, It doesn't change much unless your playing style is to keep on passing around, unpatient kind of hoopla.....
