Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

Not sure if this was discussed, but this just lost me game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. 0.5 seconds left, I intenionally foul a guy when down two points. He misses the first, I'm praying that he makes the second but he misses it.
THE FINAL BUZZER SOUNDS BEFORE ANYONE TOUCHES THE BALL.
Not only did I not have time to rebound it, call time out, throw it in, and shoot it, I didn't even have time to rebound it!
Come on, EA!

I think thats right.....
but anyway, even if you did get the rebound, you wouldn't have time to rebound, timeout, throw in and shoot in 0.5 seconds... with 1.5 maybe... but definately not 0.5 in NBA Live.

Yeah I agree. Even if you do have quick reflexes and managed to call a timeout after grabbing the rebound, there would be 0.3 left on the clock. Even Derek Fisher needed 0.4 sec to barely release the miraculous shot.
But about that thing about the clock starts when the ball hits the rim, I'm not sure though...

sorry, I assumed incorrectly.
Under Section IX of the Free Throw rules
b. On a free throw that is unsuccessful and the ball continues in play, the game clock shall be started when the missed free throw is legally touched by any player.

Even though... I never really noticed this in the game

Yeah, I guess I really wouldn't have been about to get a shot off by the time they grabbed it, (although i was right under it and wasn't jumping to save time) and shot it with the slow Live transistions.
Also, .3 seconds is the legal minimum to get off a shot in the NBA by the "catch and release" method. .1 seconds is allowed if you tap it (throw an alley oop from out of bounds).

Not in NBA Live

. In this game you need .1 sec after grabbing the inbound to press the shoot button (well, you can't hold the button before getting the pass, you know) and another .4 to release the shot.
I could be wrong, because haven't had any Derek Fisher's 0.4 sec experience.

yea.. in Live 05, most likely you would have spend 0.5 seconds in the air catching the ball, and the buzzer would've sounded by the time you landed and shot.

Yeah, actually, just the next day I was down 2 with .5 left, ball on the side, I pass in and fire immediately, shot goes in, they don't count it...
I had no qualms not saving my season after that crap...

Yeah, this is one of my biggest issue with Live...slow response time and how the players act as if they weigh 234135 pounds

Plus you can't do a lob for an alley-oop from an inbound pass situation like the Nets did the other night.
EA Sports... if it's in the details, it's not in the game.
