languages

English is the most spoken language worldwide, so you needn't learn any other languages. Despite of this, are you learning an other language or even more?
I've been learning english for some years, i think i'm able to speak this language well enough to communicate with you.
I really like this language, it's easy although there are so many tenses.
I'm learning a second language as well, it's russian. My advice, if want to start learning a new language, don't take that! I have to learn that language and it's really confusing me. The letters, the cases, the conjugation, i just hate it.

Sometimes it might happen that i mix up the languages

Has anybody else experience with that language or any others? Or would you like to learn a new language but haven't started yet?

i think when you are learning your first language (from when you are a baby on), it's much easier, because you don't already have a word associated with the object. you look at an apple, and you just see it. you don't already think apple. then you learn the word.

when you already know a language, it's harder to learn another one. You look at an apple and think "apple". But then you have to learn ANOTHER word for the same object- so it becomes "apple" AND "-insert translation for apple-".

i took spanish for 2 years in high school...can't remember a bit of it. hard for me to pick up. maybe it's because i didn't care.

ps- your english is good (Y)

yeah, my sister is borned here, and she is speaking both english and chinese very well, i was born in china, but came here when i was about 8, so my english is very well. so no doubt you learn more and more sinks in when you are younger

One of the reasons that you learn your mother-language faster than any other, is that your surrounding speaks it all the time.
You also learn stuff much more ealily when your younger. 10-12 is the golder age for learning.

I speak my native language Swedish of course; and English, not to obvious
I have taken classes in Frensh and in Spanish. Although I didn't take any followup courses on either on them, so I just know very little of those.

ps. English is spoken by a little more than 500Mill, but Mandarin Chinese is spoken by more than 1 000 Mill.
So we should all take some time to learn Mandarin instead of English

Yeah, I'm 12 and I'm taking Spanish in school, it's so easy I got a 99 average last quarter  . I got a point off because I don't pay attention in class.

hm, you guys have english classes in the netherlands..but then again i guess all have em. i wished they'd offer more asian languages. i do well i english, but cause i'm mainly surrounded by americans, my chinese is now horrible

I wanted to take French as well. I could choose between French and Russian and of course i chose French but i had to take Russian. Don't ask me why, i've no idea, nobody could explain me why. If i had been a student in the 80's or earlier, i would have accepted that language but nobody needs it today. I'm never going to understand that language, only 2 years to go, then i have done with it.
