XP doesn't read CD's, anyone else have this prob?

so anyway, i put in a disc into my computer and it says that it's a blank CD but i know that it isn't.

Is there anyway that i can get the disc read? it's annoying as hell! Screw Bill Gates!!!!

Do you have just a regular CD drive and what kind of cd are you putting in?

i had this problem with a computer i rented briefly that wasn't a true dvd-rom, but had some sort of software installed to be able to read dvd's anyway- it wouldn't recognize "the sims 2" as a cd- it would read the drive as blank. i got a different computer now that has a true dvd-rom drive, and don't have this problem anymore.

dunno if you have that software, just thought i'd chime in that possibility

yeah its probly something with the software....it's annoying, cos i have to illegally get my music now that i have on CD's arghhh!!!!
