Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

Where Have All The ESPN 2K5's Gone?
umm a month ago the board was fillin up with pics and reviews etc of espn 2k5....now that Live 05 has kicked its ass I think those ESPN 2K5 lovers have thrown the towel
oh poor poor espn fans, now u see why u should never be a fan of a game made by a TV station.....

I'm probably not cool enough to post in this topic but grow up man. People have their opinions. Deal with it.
Also, if you knew anything about the 2K series, you'd know that it originated at Sega Sports, which changed to ESPN Video Games.
Oh, and I haven't thrown in the towel. In my opinion, ESPN NBA is still the better game.

Ditto...
I see what Najira is saying. Before the release of the two games, there were 6 or 7 "Hardcore" espn gamers spamming the board up. Now theres one or two who remain. hmmm
Wed Nov 17, 2004 8:19 am
They left because they were clearly here to promote ESPN. The 2K5 fans who remain, me being one, come here to talk basketball and whatnot.
I too see what Najira is talking about, but it's not going to change anything. It was still a stupid, insulting post. He needs to let it go and grow up.

How was it insulting? By him saying that they threw in the towel? Get over it...

I'll be getting both= Live 2005 for PC (by the way, how does the new Nvidia do with it? I'm planning on getting a new graphics card)
and also ESPN NBA 2K5 for Xbox.

I am over it, but that fact that it was immature and stupid shows no justification. He was making stupid judgements towards ESPN fans, now lets not make this a bigger issue than it really is.LankyMan wrote:I'll be getting both= Live 2005 for PC (by the way, how does the new Nvidia do with it? Smart choice. I am also an owner of both titles.

No, those ESPN 2k5 promoters need to suffer every discrimination/pain for invading our boards. Like that ben2k5 guy. He needs to be punished with immense pain.

.....I have nothing against u but what I dont get is why do ESPN fans come to a Live Forum and post....specially stuff against the game??....thats pretty jobless if u ask me.

They came. They left. They're not here anymore. Let's all move on.

if you ask me i would say that now that they got the game they dont need to talk about it anymore. they were bored so they came here for a little fun. now they can play the game so they moved on. this happens with rival fps games all the time

I'm an ESPN fan but I come here to talk basketball and general discussion. I don't see Glove Guy or any other intelligent (for lack of a better word) bashing Live, we just like ESPN and we post why and try to defend our opinion.

It's like basketball in real life. Though you are reacting to what the offensive player does, you want to try to cut in front of them and force them toward one direction (preferably towards help defense). Just try and stay in front of them, don't go for too many steals/blocks and always contest a shot. Another thing that helps is knowing the other teams' players; for example, I'll give Speedy Claxton or Eric Snow (two horrible 3-Point Shooters) room at the 3-Point line but I won't be doing that for Peja Stojakovic or Ray Allen. If a big man can shoot from the perimeter (Zydrunas Ilgauskas) then stay up in his face but if you know a big man can't shoot from outside 5 feet (Adonal Foyle), give him a lot of room.

Thats true, I had last years espn game and i found that to be the best way to play defense. Somtimes I wish both Live and Sega would work together.. some of the most basic principles in the game of basketball have been missed by both companies...

Then there will be no more competition in the market.... no more innovative ideas, no more price drops, no, no, that's no good... i hope both companies can stay strong and stay individual...

But in terms of strategy, it's the same as in real life,

I disagree.. before sega ventured into the sports gamming world, nba live was a yearly release. If sega and ea were merged (its never going to happen, but if..) they could and would still produce a yearly game. Theres still money to be made

well, i've always been taught that + competition = + quality....
they would still produce a yearly game, there's no question about that... but would as much effort and time be spent on producing the game? wouldn't the game recieve less investment from the publisher as there's now no more competition out in the market? And they've already built up a steady group of customers over the years.....

I have both NBA Games, and I don't care which one rocks, I play what I want to play. 'Na Mean?
Sat Nov 27, 2004 8:55 am
i have a really hard time defending shooters.. i seriously get up to their face and it seems like they're unfazed.. and kevin garnett is probably the hardest guy to defend in this game.. i usually turn the game off with 5 mins left because i'm usually down by 10

I was one of the few that though ESPN was better than Live, and after buying both this year, I stand by that. IMO ESPN kills Live and the two are no where close, but that's just me. The reason I haven't been around much is because I'm not into Live anymore and that's basically what the board is about. I'm back though to check up on peoples dynasties and talk about the NBA.
