Pistons (1-1) win in close game against Raptors (0-2)
November 5th 2004, Week 1 NBA Season 2004/2005

Image @ Image

TORONTO, Ontario - After suffering a huge loss three days ago the Detroit Pistons took their revenge in Toronto against the Raptors. They won the game with 135-127, a small 8 point lead.

Remarkable players on Detroit's side are Tayshaun Prince who contributed 65 points on a 22-71 shooting performance and Ben Wallace scoring 22 points at a 11-18 shooting performance. At Toronto's side Rafer Alston with 39 points on a 13-26 shooting performance. These players contibuted a lot to the close score the whole game.

The first quarter Detroit started with a 12-0 scoring streak after two three pointers from Tayshaun Prince and dunks by Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace. Toronto had difficulties finding the basket in this first quarter. Of his 65 points Tayshaun Prince made 18 of them in this quarter and for the Raptors Rafer Alston made 15 points. The quarter ended with a 35-35 game. The second quarter turned out better when they played a more defensive game, Detroit had a hard time getting trough it and had no choice but passing it back to players as Tayshaun Prince who put some nice three pointers in the basket. The whole quarter went up even, not a big lead for eather Detroit or Toronto. Toronto won the period after they scored a three pointer with only two seconds on the clock left, which resulted in a 72-75 score after the second quarter.

Players at the half were Tayshaun Prince for the Detroit Pistons with 51 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. At Toronto's side it was Rafer Alston with 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The game could go both ways when the second half, and the third quarter, started. Detroit really dropped the defense in this quarter when Toronto took a 12 point lead before the Pistons scored again. Prince scored some three pointers again and the Pistons were back in the game. The period ended with a lead of 10 points for the Raptors. After the third quarter the scoreboard showed a score of 94-107 in the advantage for the Raptors.

The fourth and final quarter started with only a 13 point lead for the Raptors. It was still possible for the Pistons to come back and take the win home. The coach made some unexpected line changes when he took Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Chauncey Billups out of the game and replaced them with Hunter, Coleman and Dupree. Playing their first minutes for the Pistons this season they did the best they could which resulted in a come-back for the Detroit Pistons. With 4 minutes left at the clock the game got tied at a 120-120 score after a beautiful three pointer of Derrick Coleman. The Pistons requested a time-out followed by the Raptors, after both time-outs the game could continue. Both teams played some strong last 4 minutes which resulted in some nice dunks and blocks. With one minute left the game was 130-122. The Toronto Raptors coach requested another time-out, they needed 8 more points to take it in OT. In the last 60 seconds of the game Toronto was able to score 5 more points but the Pistons scored a three pointer plus a nice dunk providing the final 135-127 score. The Pistons won the first game of the season in a very close and exciting game on the road.

We asked the Pistons coach Larry Brown for some comments. "Let me cool down first, I'm stil shaking of the game... We played a good game in my opinion if we look at the last one against the Rockets, Toronto didn't play bad eather, we had a tough enemy with them. Tough I think our defense can still improve it was a lot better. But still to many personal fouls which result in free throws for the enemy, we certainly need to work on that. Tomorrow we play against the Philadelphia 76ers, I think we really going to play tough to win of them. But we'll see tomorrow"

As the coach said, the next game for the Detroit Pistons will be tomorrow at home against the Philadelphia 76ers, hopefully they can extent their winning streak to two tomorrow.

Rockets (0-0) walk over Pistons (0-0) in season opener
November 2nd 2004, Week 1 NBA Season 2004/2005

Image @ Image

DETROIT, Michigan - When the Pistons won NBA's last season many tought they could do it again this year, they might can but started the season with a massive los.

The game was lost by Detroit with 53 points after a score of 149-96 for the Houston Rockets. A remarkable player of the Pistons was Tayshaun Prince, who scored 76 points thanks to 21 three pointers and 25 field goals, he had the most points scored of Detroit and Houston, though he didn't make it to Player of the Game.

The first quarter started with a 7-0 lead for Houston before Prince scored his first three pointer of the game. The Pistons almost got back untill 7-6 when the Rockets made there lead bigger, and kept making the lead bigger. The teamplay of the Pistons was hard to find which resulted in a 20 point lead for the Rockets who won the first quarter with 49-29. Late in the second quarter the Houston Rockets had there first loss when Lue got injured when he tried to dunk another point. The second quarter went a lot better for the Pistons thanks to the teamplay they left in the dressingrooms in the first quarter, they lost the quarter with a one point difference. The score after the second quarter 69-48.

The Rockets domination continued in the second half, in the third quarter they made lot's of dunks over Detroit Pistons players due a lack of defense. After the third quarter the Rockets lead with 39 points with a 110-71 score. Almost certain the Rockets were going to win this first game the Pistons did everything they had in there power to make the lead of the Rockets smaller but again in the fourth quarter the Rockets dominated the whole game. With 5 minutes left on the clock Pistons' coach Larry Brown decided to take a time-out but the Pistons weren't able to come back and lost the period with a 39-25 score. The game ended with a 149-96 score with the first win for the Houston Rockets.

After the game we asked the Pistons coach Larry Brown for any comments. "Well, what can I say. The Rockets dominated the game with a huge lead and that isn't a suprise if you look at our play. Our defense had lot's of holes in it and the Rockets could easely walk trough it and dunk some nice points. We have three days before the next match and we're certainly going to train on our defense, this just doesn't work."

The next game for the Detroit Pistons will be on the road against the Toronto Raptors on Friday the 5th. Hopefully the Pistons can revenge their lost there.

so i take you like tayshaun prince? anyhew i would suggest putting fatigue on i mean it kind of takes the strategy out of the game a bit when all u have to do is have five solid players. sweet start. 140 point games, what is this the ABA. man what i would do to have games like this in real life!
