Skin tone dbf editing CAUSES CRASH

Fri Nov 19, 2004 9:51 am

i erased my original question, because i found the appearances.dbf file, i guess i had forgot about it. but in 2004, the values were
COLOR: Player's skin colour. Number corresponds to a skin tone, examples below.
0: Yao Ming, Zydrunas Ilgauskas
1: Jason Kidd, Steve Nash
2: Aaron Williams
3: Tim Duncan, Shawn Marion
4: Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady
5: Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett

But this year, it seems there is only 0-4....so i'm wondering if anyone has already experimented to see what is what? i'm going to, but it will take some work, so i just wanted to know if someone already knew.

Also, what is the "APPEAR ID" field for? Will I cause errors if I edit skin tone, etc without changing whatever the appear ID is?

ok. i changed the 'color' field to "0" on a player (an upcoming draft prospect), and when i loaded, the game crashed and i got an error about appearance.dbf. so i tried changing it to "2" instead (he was a "1")- same error. You can't change it without the game crashing. I changed it back to the original number (1) and it loads fine. Whats up? What else needs to be changed?

I've went ahead and figured out a non-technical way to do my draft stuff (I'm going to go into the rookie scouting in preseason and just see who fits in best, and note their name, then go change their dbf name/info etc.)...but i still think this is a mystery that needs solving (Y)

I think for whatever player you want, if you use a player058 or another generic cyberface--you need to make sure the skin matches whatever you pick player package you use?

I was able to import already made cyberfaces and it worked fine. I got to play 1 on 1 with them and everything--just the accesorries were messed up--but no big deal-i can fix that later.
