Reign of the Paperclips (A dynasty by Alcoholic)

Postby Alcoholic on Tue Nov 09, 2004 1:06 pm

Now that Andrew released his initial roster, I'm going to announce my Clippers dynasty. I hope you all enjoy it. I want to bring videos to you guys, but I haven't had any luck finding a place to host them, especially since freepgs.com is, well, no longer free.

Settings:

Random Schedule
82 games
Playoffs 7-7-7-7
All Star
My own sliders
12 minute quarters
12 minute sim quarters

Again I want to show videos but I have no way of hosting them. If anyone knows a good free place or has some free space of their own I would appreciate if you helped me. Be ready for the first game!

Clippers Pregame
Game 1

Image

It's opening night for both teams. The Clippers, with newly signed Kerry Kittles, and the Rockets, with newly acquired Tracy McGrady, try to show their stuff. Will anything new happen to the Clippers this year? How do the new Rockets fare? How will rookie Shaun Livingston do in his first official NBA game? We'll have to wait and see in this opening day matchup.

Key Matchup

Image

We know what both players can do. Tracy McGrady is the more talented of the two. Both players bring a lot to the table for their teams. Tracy McGrady is in a new system with a new team, and a lot is expected of him. These two players have a lot expected, but they most likely won't be guarding each other throughout most of the game. Maggette has played with the Clippers for years, and he is expected to produce big time for them. Both players will be instrumental to their teams' success.

Starting Lineups

Los Angeles Clippers

C - Chris Kaman
PF- Elton Brand
SF- Corey Maggette
SG- Kerry Kittles
PG- Marko Jaric

Houston Rockets

C - Yao Ming
PF- Juwan Howard
SF- Scott Padgett
SG- Tracy McGrady
PG- Charlie Ward

(Well here's the first game, I think you'll notice that I had one HECK of a game... I REALLY need a solid host if I'm going to continue showing some videos... I spent so much time searching today I ran out of time to play a game!! :( This tripod thing is only temporary, it will definitely not work in the long run. If there's anyone who knows of a good place that allows the hosting of video files, or has some space of their own, I'd be glad to hear from you. :) )

Clippers barely fall short

The final score - 119 to 122

For an opening night game, it was a thriller. Both teams ready to prove themselves for the new season. It started out close, with both teams going back and forth. This was a very high scoring game, due to the high activity level of both teams. Tracy McGrady had a great game with 24 points, while Yao Ming only had 12. The lack of production was made up however with the sharp shooting of Scott Padgett, who went 6-10 from the field, shot 11-13 free throws, and played 35 minutes as he dropped a whopping 24 points. Despite his numbers making it look like he had a great first game, rookie Shaun Livingston made numerous rookie mistakes, one of them which cost the game. He ended up with a steal that gave them another chance, but they fell short. Livingston outscored starting PG Marko Jaric, but it wasn't enough to prove himself anymore. Early in the 4th, the game became a battle of runs. Houston emerged with 15 point lead, but Brand bravely lead the Clippers through a 15 point deficit with a monster of a game. He brought key defensive stops which helped the Clippers catch up, and ultimately the game went into overtime. In overtime, Houston blew ahead once again on a 7-2 run, and then the Clippers began to fight back. Their job became more difficult however, as Corey Maggette fouled out in overtime. This key element to the team was a major blow for the Clippers. Houston was up by 3, and then Tracy McGrady launches a 3 pointer over Kerry Kittles to tie the game and give the Clippers the final possession. Kittles brings the ball upcourt, who is pressured heavily, then gives it up to Livingston. He crosses the midcourt line, and throws off a cross court pass which is intercepted by McGrady. Juwan Howard gets the ball, and Houston begins to hold the ball from the Clippers, who despite being down 3, do not foul. Eventually Brand causes a stop, and Livingston steals the ball. With 5 seconds left, he heaves the ball to Kittles, who has to force a 3 pointer over Yao Ming at the buzzer to force second overtime, but it comes up short, and the Clippers lose their first game.

Clippers Pregame
Game 2

Image

Seattle and Los Angeles are two somewhat evenly matched teams. Los Angeles went through some roster changes, while Seattle mained basically the same. This could be a very exciting up tempo game. Of course, Los Angeles will have to keep Seattle's 3 point shooters in check first.

Key Matchup

Image

Ray Allen can flat out shoot the basketball. When he gets hot, the opposing team can't do much to stop him. Kerry Kittles will probably be needed to guard Allen, but Maggette may be able to keep him cool.

(Is there anything wrong with the video links? For example do you get any errors or whatever when you try to download them?)

Ray Allen too much for LA

The final score - 73 to 99

Ray Allen was unstoppable. He came into the game making all of his first four shots. Kerry Kittles was quickly sent to defend him, but there was no difference. Ray Allen was eventually attracting double teams and still knocking down shots. Eventually he passed the ball more, and Rashard Lewis started heating it up. Starting PG Antonio Daniels sank three 3 pointers, while Ronald Murray came off the bench and dished out 6 assists. The Los Angeles Clippers on the other hand were a different story. Elton Brand had another stellar game with 28 points, but the rest of his team couldn't keep up. Corey Maggette went 4-15 in 37 minutes, and missed all four of his 3 point attempts. Kerry Kittles shot a measly 2-8 and only made one 3 pointer. Shaun Livingston came off of the bench, but this game it was mainly Lionel Chalmers who was given an opportunity to play. Zarko Rebraca did not play at all, as the coaching staff let Mamadou N'diaye play, to see which of the two performs better. Bobby Simmons pitched in shooting 2-2 and getting 6 points, but in the end LA was way short of a victory.

Clippers make the big trade

A trade has been confirmed and accepted by both teams involved. The Chicago Bulls have accepted a 6 man trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. The main players of the trade are Chris Kaman and Luol Deng. While it's not very clear why exactly this trade has occured, it's obvious that Chicago will benefit greatly, at least from the center position. The Chicago Bulls have expressed great interest with Chris Kaman, and now Chicago has 3 brand new centers, most notably Chris Kaman. Luol Deng was on the bench for Chicago, and he did not do very well in the past couple of games. Luol Deng hopes to get more playing time with the Los Angeles Clippers, but it is very uncertain, because the current starting SF is Corey Maggette, who shows a lot of promise. The current roster is not final, mainly because the center position is up for grabs.

Image
Deng practices with the rest of the Clippers on their day off.

(Projected) Los Angeles Clippers roster:

C- Chris Wilcox
PF- Elton Brand
SF- Corey Maggette
SG- Kerry Kittles
PG- Marko Jaric

Luol Deng will most likely have to play off of the bench, but if he proves himself he may be able to nab a starting position.

Clippers Pregame
Game 3

Image

This will be the very first true test. The San Antonio Spurs are without a doubt one of the best teams in the NBA. Even though they've lose NBA great David Robinson in the years past, they still remain a favorite to win the title. The Los Angeles Clippers are at the SBC Center warming up, ready to give their all, and to see how Luol Deng fits in.

Key Matchup

Elton Brand and Tim Duncan are two very special players. Both are fundamentally sound, and both are team leaders. It's going to be a very tough battle in the post.

Clippers surprise everyone with the win

The final score - 109 to 102

In a very up-tempo high scoring game, the Los Angeles Clippers defied the laws of basketball and beat the San Antonio Spurs 109-102. It was believed that the Clippers would be very lacking at center, but Chris Wilcox proved very productive, with 16 points, a whopping 19 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, all with only 1 turnover. Brand continues his great season with 25 points 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Kerry Kittles continues to be stuck in his shooting slump, scoring only 6 points from 14 attempts. Rookies Shaun Livingston and Luol Deng are giving great depth to this team. Luol Deng had 8 points on 3-7 shooting, 4 rebounds and 1 assist in 15 minutes, while Shaun Livingston scored 9 points on 2-5 shooting with 3 rebounds and an assist. San Antonio was able to stay in the game mainly because of the amount of offensive boards they grabbed. Both Rasho Nesterovic and Tim Duncan had 8 offensive rebounds. The good news is, Tim Duncan was denied very well in the post and only scored 12 points, however Brent Barry was on fire, lighting up the court for 24 points. This is a huge confidence builder for the Clippers.

Image
The Clippers are stupefied by the number of players wearing the same shoes.
