A strange bug in ESPN NBA 2K5

2K5 has this weird bug where sometimes if you create a player, it will give them the portrait of another player on the roster rather than the generic player silhouette meaning "No portrait", last night, I made Matt Bonner, a player not in the game to add to my modified official update roster (Used Dec. 7, 2004 update that adds 5 more uniforms as well as other roster changes, used attributes for Matt Bonner provided by Rashidi on GameFAQs also) and when I highlighted my new Matt Bonner creation to sign to the Raptors on the free agent pool, it had Brevin Knight's portrait (seen below).

This is not the first time I have encountered this bug, I have encountered it in the past too, one time, I made my brother in law and it gave him Sean Lampley's portrait, I also encountered it a few more times in the past too.

Screenshotted from my actual original XBOX (I have a Stellar modchip and it has a screenshot feature that lets you take screenshots of your games as you play them).

What do you think of this bug?

That's a weird one! Pretty unique too, I can't think of any other game that does something similar. I doubt it was intentional to avoid the "No Portrait" portrait, so definitely an odd bug.
