Players in NBA Live 2000 that were removed in specific versions

Postby boxMAN29 on Wed Mar 12, 2025 4:46 am

I have played all 3 versions of NBA Live 2000 (PS1, PC, N64) and noticed some players that were removed in specific versions of the game (apart from Steve Francis being absent in the N64 version).

Reasons for removal are listed below as well.

Here's the list:

Duane Ferrell (Removed from PS1 and PC versions due to his sudden retirement)
Eddie Johnson (Removed from the PS1 version due to retirement)
Emanual Davis (Removed from PS1 and PC versions due to him playing in another league that year)
Anthony "Pig" Miller (Removed from PS1 version for unknown reasons)
Ed Gray (Removed from PS1 version for a reason I can't remember, possibly going overseas or retirement)
Ron Harper (Removed from PS1 and PC versions for unknown reasons)
Tyrone Corbin (Removed from PS1 and PC versions for unknown reasons)

Just wanted to share something interesting about NBA Live 2000, and this is all I can remember currently.

It basically came down to them not being under an active contract when the rosters were being finalised for different versions. It was definitely a bummer to lose veterans who weren't actually retiring, though. It seems they had more freedom to include such players as free agents in future games, and so much the better for roster modding!

True but on PS1, I can just make them!

For sure, and we also had cyberface mods on PC. Still a bit of work out of the box, of course.

Yeah, I have xpoing's Jason Terry and Shawn Marion cyberfaces installed as all of the rookies in the game have generic heads, I've seen a few more as well.

Generic heads and a lot of placeholder numbers. Fortunately, the modding community stepped up in the era before official updates were commonplace!
