Agreed on all counts. It's a tough sell, yet there's nostalgia there, and they're the company with a history of making basketball games, so they're still the best chance we've got for competition.

Amen to that brother the nostalgia runs deep with us all, so many great memories and a solid fanbase/community!

I'd love it to be sooner, but yeah, I feel like we'll hear an announcement at least a year or two out if it's ever going to happen. Fingers crossed!

I feel like we need college basketball to come back and make it's argument for EA to make basketball games again

It'd definitely be a way to get their foot in the door, and avoid direct competition with NBA 2K out of the gate.

Exactly they could quietly use college basketball as a platform to carve out the gameplay, player movement, shooting mechanics etc while like you said not in direct competition with 2k.

I'd honestly happily purchase an improved version of live 18 brought forward to the current gen platform with current nba rosters I think could work as a Base point to start and if it was a digital download only to save money I'd be total on board with that.

Agreed, it seemed like it could've been a really good foundation to build upon, had they kept the right approach. It did need more polish, but they had something really promising with it. A shame we lost online support last year, I still had some unfinished business with Ultimate Team. Still, they did continue to support it for quite a long time, all things considered.

It's such a shame that such a huge company like EA doesn't see a gap in the market for another nba title, I'd seen a rumour that Mike Wang had left 2k but I've not seen anything on it since the day I saw it on X so probably isn't real but I was hoping that it was true just so EA could snatch him up and get back to work

It'd be a major coup, that's for sure. It seemed like he was having a great influence on them during his brief stint there.

I still can't find any real information on the Mike Wang situation with 2k bur I do believe should he leave visual concept then there is hope that a rival game will hit the market in a couple of years but given Mike's history with EA which could be a good or bad thing I'd hope that it was good enough to want to return.

Yeah it feels like a clickbait rumour, and to be honest none of our business until/unless the situation becomes public. That said, I do think he's the guy to get if you're going to develop a rival game. Of course, he needs to be given ample creative control and actually be listened to! No more NBA Elite 11-type situations.

I think if there was any truth to the Mike Wang rumours then I'd be willing to bet that in the next 3 years or less we get a rival nba video game.
