It was pretty good to be fair, I mean I always knew he was better than what we saw on the Bulls but I didn't know just how good he was in general tho first Aussie to the nba speaks for itself doesn't it.

11/13/1984 - Michael Jordan scores 45 points in his 9th NBA game in a win

45 pts
10 rebs
3 stls
2 blks
18-27 FG

Look how polished he already was... Elite skill, footwork, and athleticism. Age 21 here

Most impressive player I've ever seen

I smoothed out the footage

The remastering makes it look even more incredible. I have a feeling I've got that game on DVD somewhere.

Just found this. Not sure if it has been shared in this thread.

Crazy HD.... like maybe IMAX film or the '98 camera team film. Also, lots of unique angles and replays.

like this one at the 50 min mark or so
phpBB [video]

replay of the fall down .... stockton with the wrestling takedown move of harper. hahaha.

Anyways, first time I've seen this footage. Of course, maybe it's the same camera angles as the 98 game... been a while since I've watched the whole game.

regardless, figured people here might enjoy it or archive it. Have a good day.

Maurice Lucas vs Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins in the 1977 Finals. I remember watching this on TV. Many believed this turned the series in Portland's favor after being down 0-2.

A fantastic channel for watching classic games: https://www.youtube.com/c/UltimediaBox

Incidentally, the NBA is still missing a great opportunity in not having a service like the WWE Network, with on-demand historical content and documentaries. NBA League Pass is great for watching the current NBA and not having to rely on the national broadcast schedule to see your favourite team, but its historical content is painfully lacking. That would've been something cool to launch to celebrate the league's 75th Anniversary. Until then, at least they're being cool about people uploading highlights and old games, at least before a certain point.

Apparently the NBA couldn't simply show old/classic games now because of image rights, the league needs permission from those retired players or in case of deceased ones the players' estate, similar to how some retired players like Rasheed Wallace and Barkley don't appear in videogames.
That condition for footage must have been inserted by the players union in some CBA negotiation because I can recall seeing lots of classic games on NBA TV in the past, even grainy Bob Cousy footage that could make you think he's White Chocolate Jason Williams with the passes Cousy was dishing out.

The NBA is said to have tons of unseen Wilt footage in their vault, even complete games, but they couldn't show it because the hard part is getting in contact with Wilt's estate to approve the release of newly discovered or restored footage. Even a random fan could contact the NBA media department that handles old footage and they would gladly help such person on the steps required to gain permission but the biggest obstacle is always trying to contact Wilt's relative/s that handle his estate, even if the fan can afford and is willing to pay the estate.

So yeah, you better start saving those favorite NBA games footage while they're still free and available. We never know when those footage will be gone forever online like how big media companies like WB are deleting shows/movies from ever existing just to avoid paying taxes.

With everyone healthy, I believe this team could get to the conference finals. Now they'll be lucky to get to the second round.

The cancelled Horry-Elliott trade is one of my favourite bits of historical NBA trivia, especially as it made it into Revision 4 of the arcade version of NBA Jam Tournament Edition.

Balludicrous is a fun channel, too.

That part of the story was new to me as well (or maybe I'd forgotten it), so that was definitely cool to hear.

Also makes me feel better about re-telling stories in my features after it's been a while since the last time, and I've discovered new details!

I used to be a huge 90s fan and always thought it was so much better back then, not liking the 3 point fest of modern basketball. Yesterday I watched Knicks vs. Pacers 1997 (with League Pass)...and while hook shots, center moves etc. are cool to watch, the evolution of basketball has been natural. In the Knicks game it looked like a 7 vs. 7 game with the paint totally crowded, but nobody was waiting behind the arc.

Today 2 or 3 players are waiting to shoot from downtown most of the time...in the Knicks game the first 3P attempts was made with 2 to go in the first quarter.

I no longer dislike modern basketball because the evolution is normal. Why fight in a crowded paint and hope to score 2 when you can score 3 from downtown? It's all about practice and a modern approach.

That being said I also think that an average team of today would be an average team from the 90s most of the time. More competition = better players. The 90s had their stars, but the average skill level of the league is higher today.

Gilbert Arenas hit the nail on the head I saw on youtube talking about teams taking so many 3s, a player is considered a good 3 point shooter if he's shooting it at about 40% so teams are at taking most of there shots from downtown are willingly putting the fans through a game where 40% shooting would be a good night for them.

Personally I have seen more players going back to taking more mid range shots which I like to see and % is going up plus iam seeing alot more backdoor cuts from the corner so although the postup game has died decent passing big men are hitting the cutters.

Next they introduce 4 point shots or even 5...and players would make them on a regular basis. :D

It's a welcome sight. Maybe it'll prevent teams from blowing leads by mindlessly chucking threes when they're ice cold, allowing their opponent to get right back into the game.

I don't always agree with Agent Zero, but he's right here. If you're taking two, three, or four times as many threes as they did years ago, but still only scoring around the same amount of points on average as they did when threes weren't as much of a weapon of choice, then it's not being used very efficiently. Nothing wrong with the long bomb when used right, but analytics has led to some ugly sequences full of ill-advised chucking.

I was a huge Agent Zero fan back in the day with the Wizards but after the whole drama with Javis and listening to his take on Gils Arena plus his beef with Kwame recently about story's not being true I also realised iam not so much of a fan of Gil the person as I was the player but he's spot on like you said about how bad analytics are as a bad brand of basketball.

Agreed, he was entertaining for a while as a young player with a chip on his shoulder. He burned a lot of goodwill with his some of his antics during his career though, and then some of his takes thereafter. But when you're right, you're right. Stopped clocks and all that!
